Ryan,
If you want a very general text you might try:

If you want something specific to vertebrates you could try:

and then there is Ecological Methodology by Charles Krebs published by Addison

Hope this is a starting point.

CUAHSI's Fall 2017 Cyberseminar series:
Towards a Global Integrated Hydrology Platform: Perspectives and Advances in
Large-scale Modeling
Host: Reed Maxwell, Rowlinson Professor of Hydrology (Colorado School of Mines)

Questions critical to human water use and environmental change increasingly
require approaches that incorporate interconnected hydrologic processes and
bridge a wide range of spatial scales. These needs have pushed models forward
in both process complexity and spatial extent. Hydrology models that include
connections between groundwater, surface water, land surface processes, human
water use and even the atmosphere are now running at high resolution over
continents and across the globe. This seminar series highlights recent research
from four groups working to advance large-scale hydrologic modeling. Starting
with a global perspective, these seminars will discuss various success stories
and challenges as the hydrology community advances an integrated perspective of
Earth's freshwater.

All talks take place at 12:00 p.m. ET:

[ECOLOG-L] Postdoc U.Zurich Modelling species response to environmental change

2017-09-13 Thread Fred Guillaume
Postdoctoral position in modelling species' response to environmental change

University of Zurich, Switzerland
2-year SNSF-funded position starting January 2018

Deadline for application: 15 October 2017

We seek a strong candidate to model the demographic and evolutionary
responses (eco-evo responses) of (plant) species to environmental changes at
large geographical scales. The candidate will investigate the ecological and
evolutionary conditions leading to species persistence when facing rapid
climate/environmental changes. The project will be a mix of evolutionary
modelling with the software Nemo (http://nemo2.sourceforge.net/), ecological
niche modelling, and population dynamics modelling. Strong and documented
expertise in one of those fields is required. Preference will go to
candidates that have developed strong computational skills and/or a deep
understanding of eco-evolutionary processes. With this project, we seek to
improve on our current individual-based modelling approach
(http://rdcu.be/rOCD) by developing new approaches, for e.g.
population-based or multi-species approaches, depending on the candidate's
background and motivations. Partners and potential collaborators on this
project include Prof Arpat Ozgul (population ecology, UZH), Prof Nick
Zimmermann (niche & climate modelling, ETH-WSL), and Drs. Felix Gugerli and
