The lower power parts (15-20 watts) are pretty good thru 2-meters. However, the higher power versions (especially the 100-watt versions) can start to look bad at 50 MHz due to the large package capacitance-to-ground. Phil - AD5X Phil, Is this recent data? Has something changed? I have had plots of the Caddock 50 ohm 100 watt resistors taken to 250 MHz and the return loss indicated that they made very good attenuators and dummy loads at that frequency - assuming they were mounted with zero length leads directly to a BNC or SO-239 connector. My data is 2 years old. BTW - the facts I have quoted are good only for the 50 ohm Caddock resistors - I have found that other values were as stated non-inductive, but they certainly were capacitive. A capacitive dummy load is just as bad as an inductive load. 73, Don W3FPR The two of you may be applying different standards for VSWR performance. If you wish the dummy load to be an accurate 50-ohm reference for measurement purposes, then 1-2pF of shunt capacitance can be quite serious. At 145MHz, 2pF of shunt capacitance would increase the VSWR to about 1.1; as a 50-ohm reference, that would be quite poor. On the other hand, if you only need somewhere to dump unwanted RF power, that same VSWR of 1.1 will be just fine. There are some examples on my 'In Practice' reference page: http://www.ifwtech.co.uk/g3sek/in-prac#0908 Whatever your requirements, you can estimate the minimum VSWR quite accurately by assuming 1-1.5pF of shunt capacitance for each TO-220 package. In practical layouts, the VSWR at VHF will almost always be dominated by the series inductance of your own connecting wires. -- 73 from Ian GM3SEK http://www.ifwtech.co.uk/g3sek __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
Re: [Elecraft] Connections to K3 ant 1 2
Thanks to everyone for your responses and suggestions. I have decided to order a TwoPak rf switch from Array solutions. There are less costly ways to go, but I like the specs I see on their website. High pwr handling, good well above the highest frequency I intend to use, and 80 dB isolation between ports. I will still measure power on the unused port when transmitting through the other, to see how much I would be putting back into the K3. Only after this will I connect everything up to both antenna connectors on the K3 if all looks good. Will post here again when I have tested and have all connected working. 73, Tim - N3XX - Original Message - From: N3XX n...@charter.net To: Elecraft Reflector Elecraft@mailman.qth.net Sent: Thursday, May 20, 2010 6:18 AM Subject: [Elecraft] Connections to K3 ant 1 2 Hi to all on the list, I just finished building my K3 kit a few weeks ago (4175). All went well, and the new xcvr is up running with no problems. The antenna setup at my qth is a single cable from the entrance panel at the house going out to tower #1, through a remote antenna switch to select from antennas on that tower or another connection going to tower #2. At tower #2 is another remote antenna switch to select various antennas on that tower. In the shack I have an amp for 160-10 meters, and an amp for 6 meters. I would like to connect my single cable coming in from the entrance panel to a 2 way coax switch, with one of the ports going to my 160-10 meter amp, and the other going to my 6 meter amp. Then the 160-10 amp would be connected to the K3 antenna connector 1, and the 6 meter amp would be connected to K3 antenna connector 2. Both amps will operate at the legal limit easily, and my concern is that when xmitting through one of the antenna connectors amp, I will put too much rf back through the coax switch to the unused K3 antenna connector, and possibly damage the K3. I have been changing cabling manually but would really like to be able to just operate a switch to make the change. So, if anyone on the list doing something similar to what I have in mind, I sure would like to hear about your setup, what kind of switch you are using, how much port to port isolation is necessary to be safe, etc. Tnx 73, Tim - N3XX __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
[Elecraft] K1 out on the Appalachian Trail
Hello, Today 22 May 2010 I will be going out onto the Appalachian Trail to give my Elecraft K1 radio some exercise. I will be one of about a dozen Polar Bears out on the trails having some fun with our portable radios. The PB Ops that will be out on the trails can be found at: http://www.n3epa.org/Pages/2010%20PBSPE.htm The list of official Polar Bears and their assigned numbers can be found at: http://www.n3epa.org/Pages/PolarBear.htm I will be adding QSO's onto my 1,177 QSO's from the AT. Still looking for MT and HI for a WAS from the AT. In his league table, the K3 is now in 3rd place. Peter is very complimentary about the FT5000's close-in (best he's ever measured) receive performance, but closer reading of the article reveals criticism in other areas of the new radio's performance, for example the frequency disparity between its dual receivers, and the resulting effect on diversity reception. The review is not entirely positive. One has to be real about this. The likely price of the FT5000 will, I suspect, be several times that of the K3. It won't run off 12V, and it certainly would not fit on my operating desk! I also would not be prepared to spend that kind of money. Hector, I would not get too excited about a few DBs on way or another. It is just not going to make that much difference. Also, diversity receive with the 5000 is not going to work as well as in the K3. The bothersome thing about the FT dx 5000 mp to me is the weight.another 52 pound rig that will be a pain in the rear to box up and ship for repairs. I am 69 years old now and have an Icom 7700. I shipped it out once for repair and it was a pain getting it boxed up and shipped. Not only that, but repairs are expensive with the big rigs. IF you lose a logic board then you are looking at a $2k repair bill including shipping both ways. Strong points for the K3, lighter weight, easy to ship, repairs are not expensive, and can be done in the field on occasion. Great performance...also a great rig for portable operation. The only negative is the user interface which is not really that great when compared to the competition. Some will take me to task for this comment, but I feel it is warranted. Yaesu and Kenwood have both jumped on the down conversion band wagon now. They see the success of Elecraft and want a piece of the market. Elecraft is winning the hearts and minds of contesters and dxers, but to some extent casual operators still like the bigger rigs with more convenience operationally. My guess is the the FT 5000 will be a big seller, as the user interface should be more friendly, plus the high performance stats of the receiver will be attractive. The price for the MP version is about 6,200. A fully loaded K3 can run over $5k, so not too much difference in price when you think about feature sets of the two rigs when loaded with comparable features. The Kenwood 950 with two roofing filters 2.8 and 500 hz priced at 1,800 could be a sleeper for many looking for a lower price version of the K3. Re: [Elecraft] FT5000 review in Radcom
I think the idea of competition is good for all so having Yaesu or Kenwood come out with rigs that challenge Elecraft is a good thing. However, in all this kind of talk I never see or hear of the best reason to go with Elecraft -- at least from my own perspective. It is that these guys, Eric and Wayne, are probably on average 15 to 20 years younger then I am so as long as they are making money, I am sure to benefit by their future creations. I like the idea of a backup rig and I may get bored with my Icom 756 Pro III as a backup so having the option of buying the new Kenwood or the FT 5000 is kind of nice. And, I can always consider buying another K3. 73, phil, K7PEH On May 22, 2010, at 9:07 AM, Toby Pennington wrote: Hector, I would not get too excited about a few DBs on way or another. [Elecraft] Museum Ships/FT5000
Since I lived through the CB Heyday of the 1970s all I need to know is that it is from the same nice people that gave every CBer his dream rig, the FT-101, but the weight carries great weight with me. I like to put my K3 in a brief case and the power supply, key, mike and some tools in another and carry it out to the USS Cavalla, SSK-244 on Pelican Island, TX. I can carry both brief cases, along with my ample 69 year old body on board, down the ladder and through two bulkhead ports to the radio room in one trip. And, I have a first class transceiver when I get there! Also, it fits in the not so ample space that is available. I don't think I could make it with a FT5000. [Elecraft] FT5000 review in Radcom/ new DXPedition
Again Toby you are absolutely right, time will say what is going to happen in the market with the new yaesu rig, when I read by first time the manual and saw the new factory installed real six poles roofing filters for 15, 6 and 3 Khz I thought that was a deep improvement in performance but like I said,we have to read what the trustable source about it. That as you said don't mean at all that many K3 users will jump in to it to purchase it because after we have reduced space on the desk with our K3 and after you have transported it easily to all other places as portable, unit,it makes it more attarctive that all those big radios.Maybe it might be a couple of db better in performance which after all it won't make any difference. In any case cudos for Yaesu. By the way speaking about dxpeditions and K3's next weekend the 29th and 30th, I will be operating in CW the DXPedition to Peanut island here in Palm beach county,FL, I will be using for 48 hours my K3 as well as my friend Julio AD4Z will bring his K3,there will be a bunch of other radios that will be FT-1000MP's and IC-756ProIII and ProII. We will be very active in 160 to 6M in all modes.Call sign will be W4K at the former JFK bunker built for the October missiles crisis.More info will be found at qrz.com AD4C For a refined ham it is compulsory to own a k3 --- On Sat, 5/22/10, Toby Pennington toby...@embarqmail.com wrote: From: Toby Pennington toby...@embarqmail.com Subject: Re: [Elecraft] FT5000 review in Radcom To: Elecraft@mailman.qth.net Date: Saturday, May 22, 2010, 4:07 PM Hector, I would not get too excited about a few DBs on way or another. Time will tell as we go forward..it will be interesting to see what develops! Re: [Elecraft] FT-5000 againts K3 ?
While the RadCom reports are trustworthy, I have not seen the complete test results nor the procedures documented in a manner similar to the ARRL test reports and procedures. I do see and hear Peter Hart's ranking (the K3 is 3rd for 2 kHz IMD at 500 Hz BW), but how does it rank for the other parameters - there is more to receiver performance than just 2 kHz IMD. What is most important to Peter Hart may not be most important to me - there are trade-offs with any piece of equipment, and any chosen parameter may be improved at the expense of other parameters. 73, Don W3FPR Bill W4ZV wrote: Radcom's tests, under Peter Hart G3SJX, are just as trustworthy as ARRL and Sherwood, and in fact have more continuity (in longevity of personnel, equipment and procedure) than ARRL and maybe a bit more integrity than Sherwood. The user interface is fine for portability, but I would agree that many more functions could be mapped out on the front panel, ie. dedicated sub-RX controls (bandwidth, preamp/att, etc.), dual S-meters, larger LCD so VFO B freq. stays put and text feedback displayed elsewhere. More generous spacing of controls would be a big plus also. I know it was mentioned that there were no plans for a K4, etc., something to the effect of protecting K3 owners investment, but I would think an upgrade kit with a larger case, front panel, et.al., to bring the ergonomics up to desktop standards would be considered. There would be no need to replace the internals, other than maybe front panel board, interfacing to exiting MPU, etc. Perhaps even enough empty space left in the new case for an internal PS. 73 - Eric NO3M __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

Consider the 100 KHz blocking numbers, the better wide spaced dynamic range, much lower MDS (without a preamp), or better phase noise performance (vs. the Flex-5000) and the K3 is overall a much better, more well balanced performer. Some of the measures may not be important to a purely CW operator in the US but 20KHz DR could certainly be important to a phone contester and the 100 KHz blocking numbers are probably important to someone in Europe who must deal with the horrendous broadcast interference issues on 40 meters. 73, ... Odd-numbered DSP NB levels (t1-1, t1-3, t1-5, etc.) apply the new algorithm, while even-numbered levels use the original. To avoid unwanted interaction between the NB and on-air signals, always use the lowest effective setting. * CW KEYING ARTIFACT WITH AFX/DELAY ELIMINATED: The DELAY settings of AFX previously created a small audio artifact when listening to CW keying in the presence of background noise or signals. * AGC-OFF S-METER IMPROVEMENT: Turning AGC off no longer results in a drop in the S-meter reading. This was most noticeable in the presence of strong band noise. * K144XV S-METER NOW ACCURATE: The S-meter reading is now adjusted to account for RX gain when the K144XV is in use. * TX NOISE GATE IMPROVED: The voice transmit noise gate now uses a downward expander rather than simple gating. See TX GATE menu entry for further details. * MANUAL NOTCH: Pitch now defaults to 1000 rather than 2000 Hz. This starting point is a better compromise between CW and SSB. * ESSB ON/OFF COMMAND: The new ES control command can be used to turn ESSB on/off via a switch macro or from a software application. The K3 must also be in LSB or USB mode before ESSB ON takes effect. (See K3 Programmers Reference.) * BN REMOTE CONTROL COMMAND (BAND CHANGE): Previously this command was GET only, returning the present band number (00-24). It can now be used as a SET command to switch to the desired band. For example, BN00; switches to the last-used frequency on 160 m. Note: VFO B will also be restored to its last frequency used on the new band, except in the case where CONFIG:VFO IND is set to YES. __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

__ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

Joe you're mistaken about the ranking methodology. [Elecraft] K3 gain changes with filter selection
I have a K3 with three filters, 2.7 KHz (FL1) , 400 Hz(FL2) and 200 Hz ( FL3) . When I reduce the bandwidth from 4.0 KHz, the radio performs as expected EXCEPT when the the different filter switches in. When I reduce the bandwidth and it switches from FL1 to FL2, the receiver gain goes up at least 12 dB. Whe I further reduce the bandwidth and the radio switches frm FL2 to FL3, the gain reduces to that of FL1. Filter gains are set at 0 dB, 1 dB and 3 dB for FL1 thru FL3. Re: [Elecraft] K1 out on the Appalachian Trail
Hello, Before I departed the home QTH for the Appalachian Trail I took one last look at the weather radar. I was glad I did that when I did because I would have been driving into rain and I would have not gotten out on the AT at all today. So I headed towards the East in PA land. I arrived at the trail head parking lot around 14:30 UTC. I have hiked thru this area about two years ago but I did not remember if there were any good operating locations. I hiked South on the Appalachian Trail with out my gear for about 1 mile. No good operating sites and I was going down in elevation. I hiked back to my car and put the back pack on and headed North. I hiked in around 3/4 of a mile and found a nice spot to setup. I started calling CQ on 14.060 around 15:30 UTC. I did not have any luck. I tuned around the band and I did not hear too many signals on the CW portion of the band. I went over to 7.040 and I heard Pierre de VE2PID calling CQ. We had a nice chat before the QSB was playing with my signal. After Pierre and I signed I did hear a couple of stations sending just their call. Since Pierre was calling CQ on the freq. I moved up to 7.042 and called CQ. I worked Art de K8CIT in Hillman, MI. We had a nice chat until Art said he had to go QRT due to the heavy QRN in his area. At this point in time I took a few pictures and had my snack. I could not find any Salmon to eat at 1,400 feet in elevation. So I had what the cousin black bears eat, dried berries and fruit. I will post a picture later. I called CQ on 15m for a while, I tired but there was no signals. I started calling CQ on 14.060 again and I thought I felt some rain drops. So while I was calling CQ I turn on my cell phone to see if I had a signal. I did so, I checked the radar and I seen a large dark green patch moving in my direction. Then I worked Steve de NU7T in NV. He was running 900 mW into a beam. Great signal Steve but the QSB seemed to be the spoiler today. I packed up and hiked back out to my car. While driving down off the mountain the skies open up and it started to rain. What timing. I did not make many QSO's today but I did get out onto the trail and made 3 contacts and that is better than making no contacts. I did notice one thing while I was out on the Appalachian Trail today. There were a lot of women hiking in groups or by them selves. They were not out for a day hike because they had large back packs on with gear hanging off the packs. One group of women had way too much perfume on and that could mean trouble for them over night. If you were looking for me, I want to thank you for taking the time to do so. 1,180 QSO's from the AT. 72 and Thanks, Ron Polityka WB3AAL K1 - SN 01011 K2 - SN 01392 __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

[Elecraft] Whose radio? People vote with their pocketbooks. Only election day counts.
It's interesting to watch the speculation that Elecraft's share might be diminished because one of the Japanese manufacturers, after a decade of pooh-poohing the down/convert roofed front end, finally manages to put out a model with exactly that. The reflectors are like the talking heads on the political channels that keep the hype going endlessly because they have to fill 24/7 somehow. Every little ripple in all things equipment gets tossed around, but it's not the reflector media hype that is driving the growing Elecraft share of the market. People vote with their wallets. And it's only election day that counts. While TenTec put some very good rigs down, particularly the Orions, those did not scare the BJ out of Yakencom. I have no problem operating an Orion in a contest, now I understand what makes it tick and have some critical configuration numbers to make it go like I want it to. But I'll take the K3's AGC and specifics, particularly the combo of settings that neutralizes key clicks. But since the key click trick has been such a hard sell to the reflector audience, it has to be something else other than individual DSP trickies for CW ops that has done it for Elecraft. I'd call it the NASCAR effect. Contesters have been adopting K3's in droves. So what? Contesters gossip, they go play with each other's rigs at multi-ops. They have club meetings. They are endlessly on IM, skype, email with each other. There is a network of friends of friends of friends. Everything any manufacturer does gets endlessly dissected both publicly and privately, good or bad, great or ghastly. While this may not have been so true ten years ago, the latest doings of Wayne, Eric, et al, get repeated in today's hyper-information space along with every other manufacturer's doings and not-doings. Elecraft has had some good habits, which, assuming they keep them up, are going to keep them around for a very long time. These go far beyond whether the K3 is number one on this or that list, though the superior RX performance surely got Elecraft their best press at a critical time. In no particular order: *Responsiveness* The technical high end of their customer base is also the technical high end of the general electronics knowledge base, with some very serious names among Elecraft owners. Attention to and RESPONDING to a technical audience has the effect of creating a dispersed engineering staff of the best, well beyond Elecraft's ability to garner a purely paid staff. It also stands in object, stark, contrast to the completely closed system at Yakencom. *Open Testing regimen* Elecraft uses a three layer volunteer testing regime for their firmware. They keep a polite tolerance of some pathological nay-sayers and outright trolls on their reflector, only gently limiting the feedback when threads bordering on True North extend. While any one of us might disagree with the views of someone else and may debate it on the reflector, Wayne has the opportunity to sit back out of sight and quietly weigh the pros and cons and business implications of all the text flying back and forth. Some companies would kill for feedback with those kinds of marketing implications. *Anti-NotInventedHere*. Elecraft has a group of friendly non-employee hams who contribute significant ideas, and occasionally get involved in company communications on same. Elecraft actually evaluates these, and has and will incorporate such in design. The improvements in the product line are the contributor's well-enjoyed reward. *Incremental/optional approach to product features* The buy-a-new-model-to-get-new-features-or-fixes tactic taken by Yakencom for all these years has been defeated by upgradeable DSP firmware and a responsive firmware writer. Now all the money that WOULD have been spent for new features/fixes buying a new radio can be spent on integrated, smart accessories, or main radio options that also work with upgradeable firmware. Or perhaps more important, someone who can just afford a K3 in the first place can keep pace for a long time in the single piece of electronics they can manage to purchase. This same aspect will work to keep the resale value very high, as will the remarkably low number of used K3's on the market. *A non-leveraged business model* Elecraft is moving forward on a stable built-on-their-own-earnings foundation which separates them from the stock market. It is important to note that the success of the K3 has been built up right through the worst financial decline since the great depression, and built up selling a product that is 100% not needed for family survival. Elecraft is not a business without bones or muscle. If you DIDN'T have the right stuff, you went down in the last two years. Even businesses WITH the right stuff have gone down in the last two years. Whose radio is getting bought is a slow moving trend and a brand switch on purchase is a hard sell. Hams are worse about their radios than most folks
Re: [Elecraft] Whose radio? People vote with their pocketbooks. Only election day counts.
Great post! I would specifically second the incremental/optional approach to product features part, myself tho all the rest of Guy's points are totally spot on, IMO. But in my case, this has been reason #1 I've gone to elecraft products instead of the competitors. For me, the greatest value is you can configure your K3 (or K2) with whatever options you want and not have to pay for options you don't need at the time or don't want. But you still get the highest performing RX on the market and all the functionality in the basic rig. That you couldn't do that always drove me nuts with the Big 3 and even Ten Tec - it wasn't that I wanted this or that feature in a particular rig, but it was what I wish it _didn't_ have so that I didn't have to pay for it. All I wanted was a good basic configuration with good high performance. A CW filter and I'm ok - add an ant. tuner and built-in keyer and Im really happy. but there was no such option available from any of these manufacturers. Either I could get an inferior basic rig, or I could get a fairly good to very good RX/TX but with loads of other stuff I didn't want - pretty screens, knobs for every function, the size and weight of a Hummer, useless features that looked nice and on and on. I prefer stripped, but good quality radios. The only ones I could find that met that requirement on the entire market were the elecraft products. My K2, for example, has the NB module and the internal ant. tuner only. My K3 is the basic 10W version with only the internal ant. tuner, a 400hz 8 pole filter and the 1ppm TCXO. That's it on both - the K3 may eventually get the KPA3 and maybe another filter or two at some point, but that's probably all I'm going to end up needing for it. So I'd submit this as another strength of Elecraft's approach - they offer the option of fewer options, an escape from the featurism of the competition (a phenomenon we're all too familiar with in the software industry as well). This may not appeal to that large of a market segment, but it sure got my business hi hi. 73, LS W5QD -- View this message in context: http://elecraft.365791.n2.nabble.com/Whose-radio-People-vote-with-their-pocketbooks-Only-election-day-counts-tp5089772p5089883.html Sent from the Elecraft mailing list archive at Nabble.com. __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
Re: [Elecraft] K3:DSP upgrade error ERR DSE?
Hi Lyle I updated the firmware. I had to do a MPU load/reset. Anyway all is fine now and everything is working fine. Thanks for your reply and help. 73 Craig VK3HE --- On Sat, 5/22/10, Lyle Johnson k...@wavecable.com wrote: From: Lyle Johnson k...@wavecable.com Subject: Re: [Elecraft] K3:DSP upgrade error ERR DSE? To: Craig vk...@yahoo.com Cc: elecraft@mailman.qth.net Date: Saturday, May 22, 2010, 10:16 PM I just finished upgrading my DSP board with new swapped DSP board. I am getting the following error message... Might be due to significantly different versions of MCU and DSP code. See if you can update the firmware in the DSP and/or MCU to the latest and see if the error goes away. 73, Lyle KK7P __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
[Elecraft] Elecraft CW Net Announcement
Good Evening, After a day of warm weather we were plunged back into rain and cold. Highs in the low to mid-50s again and lows near freezing. I let the fire die for two days but made sure to split wood for the future. Now it is burning. I don't think it will snow again but it is a close thing. Rain and wind have been heavy but the plants are greening up nicely. Spring is very slow here. In another two months or so it may get to the dry season but right now that is only a dream. Propagation has been less than optimal on twenty meters. After another extended period of quiescence the sun has developed a new spot. I was beginning to wonder after 12 days of quiet whether it has ceased its awakening. Hopefully a few ions will filter through space and impinge upon the Heaviside layer. Forty meters was viable Thursday night nor was it quiet. Hopefully both bands will be better tomorrow. Please join us tomorrow afternoon and evening. 1) Hail signs (first letter or two of the suffix of your call) 2) NCS help (as well as QSP/QNP relay help) Sunday 2200z (Sunday 3 PM PDT) 14050 kHz Monday z (Sunday 5 PM PDT) 7045 kHz Stay well, Kevin. [Elecraft] EMEU 0202 for sale (sold)
The EMEU 0202 I listed earlier today has sold. Dick K8ZTT From: K8ZTT [mailto:k8...@mho.com] Sent: Saturday, May 22, 2010 5:03 PM To: 'elecraft...@yahoogroups.com' Subject: EMEU 0202 for sale If anyone is interested and/or having positive thoughts about using LP_Pan and PowerSDR/IF with their K3, you are going to need a sound card. As luck would have it, I have a EMEU 0202 sound card for sale. In an effort to start making space for a new amp, I changed to the EMEU 1212 (PCIe internal card). The 0202 is about six months old, has had just enough use to burn in, works great, and has been in a smoke free environment. I noted the newprice on Amazon is $100; and the price for a used one was $120. The used price is probably a tad high, so I am willing to make a great sacrifice and let mine go for $75 (and that includes a USB cable, packing, handling, shipping, and any other trumped up charges that might me applicable). With the 0202 in hand, Larry at TelePost will be thrilled to send you a LP-Pan kit (I recommend the kit) for $185 (including the aforementioned charges in the paragraph above); and in short order you will be up and running with a first class Panadapter. I am good in QRZ.com, RAC, and most likely any other callsign reference you might be privy too.
