I just checked by KAT3 setting and it is in byp. That said, I am reluctant to make any changes, as the K-Line is functioning very well and I don't wish to upset the apple cart. It was a joke, son: Didn't you see the smiley, Phil? I have connected the receive line from the transverter to the Transverter In BNC connector on the back of the rig. When I set that transverter to a low power setting the receive works fine, but there is insufficient power to drive the separate transmit line to the transverter. Re: [Elecraft] Interfacing an old MM transverter
When you use the high power setting on the K3, the most obvious solution is to change the transverter to a single RX/TX IF connection. If that is not possible, connect the RX IF line from the transverter to the RX ANT input and select the RX antenna for that transverter band. 73, Don W3FPR On 6/15/2014 10:28 AM, g3yjr wrote: I have connected the receive line from the transverter to the Transverter In BNC connector on the back of the rig. [Elecraft] Configuring a K3 for the PR6-10
I need to ask for help configuring a PR6-10 on the K3. Installed OK, removed the internal jumper per instructions and am using the control line on a Y splitter to allow the KPA and KAT to connect to the K3 as well. Physically, all seems fine, and the K3, P3, KPA and KAT work just as they always did. Then to operate the pre-amp I configured digout1 to ³on² for 28 Mhz on the K3, per instructions. OK so far. The PR6-10 manual says ³Tap RX ANT to enable preamplifier.² When I do so the noise level goes way down and the signals disappear, as if there were no antenna connected to the receiver. Removing the power plug from the preamp made no difference in either mode RX ANT on or off. I recall when building the K3 that there were elections to be made about antenna configurations when installing the sub receiver and/or the KXV3. I also remember that there are a myriad of ways the antennas can be routed via the configuration menus. I have a feeling that the elections and internal configurations I originally made in the K3 are not compatible with getting the PR6-10 to work simply by pressing RX ANT, but I can¹t reason my way through it all. Re: [Elecraft] Configuring a K3 for the PR6-10
Hi Ted, If you are using a KPA500 and a PR6 you will have to remove pin 11 from the cable that goes to the KPA500. It has popped up on this reflector once or twice but it is not mentioned in either the PR6 or the KPA500 instructions. If you wonder if this will work just pull the 15 pin cable off of the KPA500 and you'll see that the PR6 works as you would expect it to work. 73, Mike K2MK Dauer, Edward wrote I need to ask for help configuring a PR6-10 on the K3. Re: [Elecraft] KX3 sluggish keyer
Hello Wayne, I used the ATU clear method to clear any L/C combinations before using a new antenna and allow the tuner to tune up the antenna before transmission. This solved the problem with ATU updates between the words. The missing dots/dahs problem could be solved by a small modification to the KXPD3: I put two small soldering eyelets on each of the outer side of the paddle arms under the countersunk screw that holds the spring in place. I soldered very light isolated bus wire to these eyelets and directly cabled them to the GND pin of the KXPD3 connector plus I used the firm spring supplied with the paddle kit. - Problem solved! The contacts at my paddle also has the convex shape and the contact rolls are mode of stainless steel which seems to be the improved version. I cleaned the contacts using 100% alcohol. So far I am happy with that solution and it does not really disturb the optical appearance of the KXPD3 but improves keying reliability a lot. vy 73! Re: [Elecraft] Configuring a K3 for the PR6-10
Doesn't sound like Ed has the pin 11 problem. What that does is to keep the PR6/10 ON even though you have turned DIGOUT1 off for a band. But when he finds out what the current problem is he will still probably have the pin 11 problem. The adapter to get to clip the pin 11 is a DE15HD Port Saver, not a gender change. Ed, on the PR6, do you have it powered up? I power mine from the K3 12 output. The other thing to check is that you have the SUB connected to the MAIN antenna and not the AUX. Turn SUB on and hold RX to see MAIN and not AUX. Is the -73 dbm (50uVolt) = S9 + 20 dbm or is the -33 dbm signal what I need for the KX1? I've researched the KX1 manual and can't find the answer. Currently I get 4 bars for -33 dbm and nothing for the -73 dbm. 72, Clark, WU4B -- View this message in context: http://elecraft.365791.n2.nabble.com/KX1-S-Meter-Adjustment-tp7590254.html Sent from the Elecraft mailing list archive at Nabble.com. __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com

Did it work well? Sugru has worked very well for me in a number of instances, the latest being in sealing (in effect, potting) a coax connection associated with my loop antenna.
