[Elecraft] [K3]WTB:K3/100 unloaded

2018-04-04 Thread Petr, OK1RP/M0SIS
Hi folks,

I am looking for used, unloaded K3/100 in perfect, working conditions (no
surprises please). Just basic older but fully working, nice K3/100 is ok.
Price is the key in that case.
Many thanks for offers.

[Elecraft] K3 receiver IMD

2018-04-04 Thread Benny Aumala

FUNKAMATEUR 4-2018 has interesting article by OE3HKL for

broadbad impulse measurements of RX IMD.

Arrangements are interesting and elaborate, but result is simple:

K3 compared to other commercial equipments is absolute winner.

Compared to RX/OE3HKL, FT-1000 Field, IC-751A, IC-7300.

[Elecraft] K3 audio line in/out cables

2018-04-04 Thread Bob McGraw K4TAX

Tony:

Only need one USB cable  between the radio and computer.  Audio TO/FROM
and CAT commands are handled over one cable.  Works great!   If you plug
anything into the rear Line, it will disconnect the audio via the USB
cable.

I have upgraded both of my K3's to make them as close to a K3S as best I
can. Presently cleaning up the rats nest of cables. I am using USB.

I no longer use the Line IN and OUT jacks. Presently only using FSK. I plan
on adding FT8 shortly. With the on board CODECs is there any reason I still
need the LINE cables? Want to check to makes sure I am not missing
something.

After discussing it with Elecraft, I keep my KPA-1500 PS front panel down.
I place a small book between the front panel and the floor of my shack.
This prevents any pressure on the three green lights protruding a little
from the panel. This configuration allows full ventilation access and
facilitates routing the cables to the amplifier (they face upwards to the
amp). Also allows easy access to the PS ON/OF switch.

Just a heads up ... on WSJT-X, there is an updated v1.9.0-RC3 on K1JT's

Re: [Elecraft] Any KPA1500 received that were ordered after 1st day?

2018-04-04 Thread Thomas Schaefer
Thanks for the update. That is exactly what I needed.

As the point of my message seems to have been lost on many responding, allow me
to clarify. I realize no amount of discussing where the amp is will get it here
any faster. That was not the point. I simply suggested it was a question I had
every time a new “Amp received” message was posted. It was to satisfy my
curiosity which several hams are doing.

I also had a reason to ask in that I help maintain a contest station and a
remote station. The amp factors into our plans so I was trying to get a sense
of projects coming up towards the Fall and Winter contest season. If we are
already ploughing through the orders from the second week, that tells me
something different for station planning than where we are now about how many
minutes into the first day. Amp #52 was ordered 15 minutes after. Amp #56 was
ordered 43 minutes after the ordering started. And yes, I know that is not
necessarily linear as ordered came in from multiple channels.

Lastly, I would rather wait for a great product and will wait as long as that
takes because I trust Elecraft. The $6000 up front is not an issue as what else
would it be doing except drawing ridiculous interest rates in a bank? Of
course, if someone put the amp on a credit card and has been financing the
purchase at 18%, then I could understand the consternation—but let’s hope no
one that put a pre-purchase on a $6000 amp has to finance it long-term on a
credit card :)

Regards,

Tom NY4I

[Elecraft] Elecraft k3S and K3/0 Mini with remote rig

2018-04-04 Thread Ron Gould
I have a pair of remote rigs which I use to remotely control a Elecraft K3S via
Elecraft K3/0 mini which I purchased from Elecraft. Everything has been
working fine until I had to reset my router, a Apple Time Capsule. Now the
remote rig just beeps at me and does not turn K3S on. Documentation is
difficult to find on exactly how to configure a Time Capsule to work with the
remote rigs.

I contacted Elecraft technical support but they referred me to manuals on
remote rig and their K3 mini manual but I find little in the way of Mac support
with a Apple router. Elecraft says this is beyond their networking knowledge.
I believe I have set the port forwarding up correctly but since documentation
is limited, I am not sure I have done so correctly or have missed something.
Hopefully someone out there has theirs up and running with Apple hardware and
can advise or Elecraft can help better than they have. 73’s
