Re: [Elecraft] K3S - blank screen - won't start won't shut off
Keith _always_ gives good advice. I would add one thing. Make sure the AUXIO cable is disconnected from the back of the K3 when you do your testing. If it is directly connected to a KPA500 or KPA1500, it just may keep the K3 from shutting down. We don’t remember if the LCD will go blank in this situation, though. This is why we specify AUXIO cables for the KPAs with pin 8 (the power-on pin) disconnected. 73, Jack, W6FB > On Oct 14, 2021, at 7:40 AM, Jim Sheldon wrote: > > Turned on my K3s this morning and got a blank screen. Re: [Elecraft] Headphones for Hearing Loss
I'm not sure that boosting high frequencies (assuming you have simple, age related, type losses) is really a safe thing to do. Whilst hearing aids do this, they also apply dynamic range compression, to minimise the additional hearing damage caused by the aid for loud sources. Incidentally, the standard correction applied by hearing aids is approximately half the number of dB's of loss. They don't try to fully cancel the loss. -- David Woolley On 14/10/2021 00:24, Jim Brown wrote: First, one that works for K6DGW, who mostly works CW and has a lot of hearing loss. Hi Jim; First, do NOT try loading FW, don't do a Parameter-Reset (EE-INIT) when it is in this state. 1. Check the right side of the radio, it should be warm not hot. If hot, then the 5 or 8 volt regulator is working too hard, either a short or itself is bad. 2. More likely, C102 on the FP (Front Panel) is shorting the 5Volts for the Contrast. One end of C102 should have close to 5V. You can reach this by just taking the top cover off! It is on the rear side of the FP board at the top, directly behind the top left corner of the LCD. Re: [Elecraft] Headphones for Hearing Loss
You would need the most recent BLE 5.0 or above, with low latency support. Then the delay is perhaps small enough that it won't make you crazy. I have a Bluetooth transmitter in my bag to plug into devices that don't have Bluetooth support, but I haven't used it for CW. Simple enough to use, though. Plug it into the Aux or headphone jack. Pair with it, and it works. This one is similar to mine, and has the APTX low latency BT 5.0.
