Re: [Elecraft] K3 macro to tune memories from K-pod
I did check my firmware revision numbers, and have 5.62 and 1.09 in the K-pod. In my original post I stated that after sending the M>V macro (which does bring up the flashing memory number) that pressing the Up or DN macro caused the display to revert to its original frequency and nothing else happens.. That's not quite right. Subsequent sends of the UP or Dn macros cause VFO A to increment or decrement. But sending either the Up or Dn from the K-pod kicks the K3 out of memory mode. Everything works perfectly from the utility, so it seems to be a K-pod issue. [Elecraft] K3 macro to tune memories from K-pod
I am trying to set up the K-pod to step through the K3 memories like using the M>V button and main dial. To do so I've programmed 3 of the K3 pf buttons with one command each: Macro 14 (labelled M>V) = SWT23;Macro 15 (labelled MEM UP) = UP;Macro 16 (labelled MEM DN) = DN; I realize that the UP and DN command are for menu items and frequency changes, but thought I would try them for this. From the K3 Utility this works perfectly, replicating the radio front panel action exactly. However, from the K-pod it doesn't work. The M>V macro works, but MEM UP and MEM DN simply revert to the existing frequency. A second tap flashes the correct label on the K3 but nothing happens. Can anyone shed light on why this works from the utility but not the K-pod? And while I have the floor; I will re-utter my plaintive cry for a macro editor for the P3/SVGA. I have no idea what is entailed in creating one, but it would make it so very much easier to work with them. 73, Chuck, NN7U __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com

Is there anything in the works to provide a macro editor for the P3 that allows creation and editing of the 50 macros in the SVGA? [Elecraft] P3 setup
Greetings to the group. I have been trying to recall how to set up the P3 so that the K3 frequency is aligned on the left side of the display. That is very handy for working dx where the dx signal is on the left side of the display and the pileup is spread out to the right. Re: [Elecraft] K2 Options
I've got to agree with Jim. I have both the K2 and K3. I enjoyed building my K2 as much as anything I've done in ham radio, and I still find ways to get in there and mess with it. It is a fine radio, BUT--the K3 is better in every respect IMHO. There are great bargains in used K3's coming on the market almost daily. However, if you decide on the K2, I would go for the DSP over the KAF. It is more versatile, but does have a different sound. [Elecraft] K3: Sub receiver goes silent at narrow bandwidth
My first post on this didn't make it to the list due to clerical error on my part, so here is attempt two. The sub-receiver in my K3 is equipped with a 2.7 5 pole filter in position 1, and a 400Hz 8 pole in position 5. All works well until I narrow the bandwidth to 400 Hz, then the sub-receiver goes quiet (the main continues to work normally.) I used the K3 utility to set filter 5 bandwidth both narrower and wider, and wherever it is configured is where the receiver goes quiet. I can't find anything in the archives about this particular problem, but thought I would seek the group collective wisdom before tearing into the radio. [Elecraft] K2 diminishing power on 15 to 10 meters
I just finished installing the KAT2 and in testing discovered that power output begins dropping on 15 mtrs. I removed the KAT2 and tested the plain K2 into a dummy load, with the same results. I redid the transmitter alignment but it didn't change the results, which are, with a 10 watt setting: 80 mtrs: 10 watts 40 mtrs: 10 watts 30 mtrs: 10 watts 20 mtrs: 10 watts 17 mtrs: 8 watts 15 mtrs: 3 watts 12 mtrs: 1.5 watts 10 mtrs: 1.5 watts 160 mtrs; 1 watt There is no high current with any of these readings--it is about what you would expect for the power output listed. An external meter between the radio and dummy load confirms the K2 internal meter. It appears that the drive is tapering off, but I'm at a loss for what would cause that. Power supply is 13.8 volts, indicating 13.3 on K2 display and never dropping below 13v. This is a pretty much loaded radio with SSB, DSP, NB, 160 meter option--pretty much everything but the KIO2, 60 meters and transverters, and has been in use as a K2/100 for several years delivering expected output on all bands. I just recently pulled the KPA100 out of it to convert it back to QRP. Where do i start and what do I look for? [Elecraft] KAT2 C55 null
I'm installing the KAT2 and am having trouble getting C55 to null (as so many have.) I've rewound T1, checked for solder bridges, errors in component placement, orientation or value and every thing else I can find to try from gleaning these archives. The only anomaly I can find so far is that pin 7 of U4 has 4.6 volts on it rather than zero. Pin 7 isn't used, but does the fact that voltage appears there indicate U4 is shorted? Voltage measurements were taken with the control board and LC board separated, and only J8 connected to the K2. One more question. I will be installing the 100 watt amplifier and KAT100 in a separate enclosure for later use. I understand that R6 on the KAT2 control board needs to be changed to 470 ohms for that operation; should I just do that now?
