Re: [Elecraft] AX-1/K-2/K-1

2018-11-20 Thread edward kacura via Elecraft
I used the AX1 with my K1 on November 15th chasing a SOTA activator in IL, I’m
in FL.
The AX1 was setup inside a screened in porch on a table top tripod, the K1 was
set to 7 watts and tuned up on 20m at 1.1 swr.
We made the contact, he gave me 339 RST, I was very surprised and impressed !
The ATU in the K1 did its job with the AX1 just fine. I’ve only used 20m so far.

[Elecraft] AX1 antenna

2018-11-15 Thread edward kacura via Elecraft

Received my AX1 yesterday, so small but a gorgeous piece of engineering !!
Put it to the test this morning...I had just made a Q on 20m with Keith,
KR7RK doing a SOTA activation from IL with my KX3 @ 80w, I’m in FL.

I set up my K1 and new AX1 antenna with a table top tripod inside my screened
in porch.
Keith was still calling CQ SOTA, I called and he returned my call. The K1 was
set at 7 watts, the antenna tuned up 1.1 swr.

I was amazed, it really worked !! Thanks for another great piece of Elecraft
gear Wayne and Eric, you guys have another winner here !!

What’s next ??

Re: [Elecraft] [KX3] Re: AX1 Order Page Up but Broken?

2018-10-10 Thread edward kacura via Elecraft
I have to agree with Buddy 100% !!!
I’ve owned Elecraft radios for almost 10 years now, it’s all I own !!
I had my KX3 two weeks (s/n 0045) and a glitch appeared, couldn’t use the
radio. I emailed Elecraft on a Sunday night around 10pm, not expecting to hear
from them til Monday morning.
I got an email less than half an hour later, from Wayne no less! He said he’d
be on it first thing Monday morning and let me know.
He emailed me Tuesday morning and had me call him later, he spent an hour on
the phone helping me reboot the KX3 ! That was April 2012, the KX3 has operated
just fine since than !
That left a lasting impression on me to this day, Wayne and Eric and the crew
at Elecraft are the best IMHO !!
I’m an Elecraft junkie for life..thank you Wayne and Eric !!

[Elecraft] K1 Internal Battery kit

2017-09-03 Thread edward kacura via Elecraft

Bought my fourth K1 (my last), last month, didn't have the KAT1 installed thou.
I was fortunate to have  ordered one before they were discontinued last week !
The KBT1, internal battery kit is discontinued also, I'd like to find one.
If you have one that's excess to your needs or not using anymore, built or not,
I would be happy to take it off your hands !
Contact me off line at ekac...@yahoo.com
Sad to see the KX1 and K1 discontinued, they're both such fun and easy to
operate little rigs ! I've had my KX1 almost 8 yrs and plan to keep it, the
same for this latest K1 !
Now I'm thinking maybe I should find a K2 before they disappear, sold my K2
last December after having it almost 8 yrs. After buying my KX3, s/n 045 in
2012, the K2 didn't see much use anymore.

Thanks in advance !!

[Elecraft] KX1 For Sale

2017-08-14 Thread edward kacura via Elecraft
GM Guys, I have a KX1 for sale, s/n 2698.
It's in excellent condition, has the ATU installed, also has the paddles.
Don Wilhelm, W3FPR went thru it a few months ago and gave it a clean bill of
health !
While it was there, he built and installed for me the K6XX CW indicator kit
which allows you to zero beat the station with the lamp installed on the KX1.
It comes with the manual of course !
I already have another KX1, and went and broke down and bought a K1, my third
! Can't seem to stay away from the K1lol !
So this one is really surplus to my needs, plus I need to put the money back
in the bank I used to buy the K1lol !!
Price is $450.00 firm, I'll pay shipping and insurance. I can do PayPal or M.O.
 Contact me at ekac...@yahoo.com

Re: [Elecraft] KX2 Matching Power Amplifier

2017-04-06 Thread Edward Kacura via Elecraft
I've been using my old HF-PACKER amp I've had about 7 yrs with the KX2.
2 watts in gives me 40watts out for portable ops here in Florida.
I use a Buddipole 5Ah battery for the amp and the internal battery in the KX2.
I was on the air every day for almost a week at Flamingo in the Everglades last
month chasing SOTA activators, never ran either battery down.
Virgil has a new mini HF-packer amp for SOTA activators out now, 35/40 watts
out on battery.
I would buy an Elecraft small amp if they ever produced one !

[Elecraft] KX1 discontinued

2017-02-10 Thread edward kacura via Elecraft
It is indeed a sad but inevitable occurrence, time and technology move forward !
The KX1 was my first venture into the world of Elecraft, I bought mine in 2010
and still use it, it has gone everywhere with me in my travels, from mountain
tops to kayak camping in the Everglades.
I've owned the K1, K2 (Twins), and currently own the KX3, PX3, KXPA 100 and KX2
! I'm an Elecraft fan for life, I don't own and other brand !
Thanks so much Wayne for one of the best little radios, it's so simple and easy
to use and just plain fun ! I wish I had ordered another kit now.
I'll never sell my KX1, I may even have it buried with me when the time come !

[Elecraft] Elecraft Support

2017-01-08 Thread Edward Kacura via Elecraft
Yes, they are the best when it comes to support !
I had my KX3, s/n045, less than 10days and a problem developed.
I shot an email to Elecraft at 10pm on a Sunday nite, shortly Wayne answered
me, much to my surprise !
It was an early firmware problem and he said he'd be on it Monday morning !
I get an email from him Tuesday to call him personally.
He spent an hour on the phone with me while I reloaded firmware and set the
radio up again !
I've not had a problem since in almost 5 years now.
I was so impressed with Wayne's personal service and help !
I'll never buy anything but Elecraft products ever again !
Thanks so much to everyone there, you folks are the best IMHO !!

Re: [Elecraft] [KX3] Yaesu 817ND vs Elecraft KX3 Differences for Portable Use

2016-01-28 Thread Edward Kacura via Elecraft
I had an 817 first, then got the 703, which blew the 817 away !
I sold the 817 so fast, I'll never own another for any reason !
Then I got the KX3, s/n 45.
The 703 was sold, but it was a good radio, far superior to the 817 !!
The KX3 out did both !
I'm a die hard Elecraft fan for life
BTW, I also have a KX1 and K1, I reluctantly sold my K2 just recently, which
was a great radio, I needed the room.
There are no other radios for me now but Elecraft !!
And of course there's the great customer service you get, that the "others"
don't provide !!

[Elecraft] FS: K2/QRP (amp/tuner sold)

2014-11-01 Thread edward kacura via Elecraft
I'm downsizing since retirement earlier this year, will be on the road with the
travel trailer. These item need a new home instead of sitting packed away. I
have my KX3, PX3 along with the KXPA 100, it all fits nicely in the trailer.

The K2, s/n 6576, was built in late 2011 by Dale Putnam WC7S, with the complete
Rework Eliminator kit.
Installed in it are K160RX, KSB2 SSB option, KAT2 Antenna tuner, KDSP2 filter
with clock, KIO2 RS-232 interface, KBT2 battery kit, no battery. There's an
unbuilt noise blanker. There's a weighted VFO knob installed, and an extra top
cabinet panel with speaker installed.

All the manuals included, along with a MH-2 hand mic and headset adapter.
There's two unopened Rework Eliminator kits, KXPD1 clamp for the KX1 paddles to
mount to the K2 bail.
I'm asking $850.00, new $1690.00.

I will double box and insure, and pay the shipping, only lower 48 thou, no
overseas. Paypal, or money order works for me.

As with all used electronic equipment, there's no return or refund. You will
get working radios when they leave me.

Contact me off-line at ekac...@yahoo.com mailto:ekac...@yahoo.com, or call my
cell and leave a msg. 520-490-5395. ( I don't always hear the cell with my
hearing aids)
