[Elecraft] FLDIGI on Raspberry Pi PTT issue with the K2
Please carefully read everything that follows to avoid repetition of the steps followed. What I have summarized here is the result of MANY hours of work and extensive troubleshooting time via email with 2 incredibly helpful and patient hams. I have an RPi 3 with FLDIGI and WSJT-X installed. After MUCH effort over the past 6 months I have WSJT-X working. My problem now is that the PTT on the FLDIGI does not work. The PTT on the WSJT-X does work. It's underlying rig control is Hamlib. I am using the Elecraft USB to serial adapter connected to the proprietary K2 serial cable. Note that I have successfully used the K2 with a Windows PC running FLDIGI and WSJT-X for some time. I have configured FLDIGI for RigCAT. It communicates with the K2 (frequency, mode, filter selection) but no PTT. I have also tried Hamlib but it will not initialize. During an extensive troubleshooting process over the past 3 weeks with a ham on the Yahoo FLDIGI RPi group I tried FLRIG. It is fully functional with the K2 but when I try using it with FLDIGI nothing works – no frequency control, no PTT, nothing! By this I mean that I am trying to use FLDIGI for the control. I have verified that I have all the correct settings in both FLDIGI and FLRIG with the ham that has been helping me. As a sanity check I installed FLRIG on my Windows machine and successfully ran FLDIGI there. Has anyone had similar issues? Thanks for any help. 73, Jim WA4YWM --- This email has been checked for viruses by AVG. http://www.avg.com __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com
[Elecraft] Raspberry Pi, K2 and WSJT-X questions
Has anyone figured out how to control a K2 from RPi running WSJT-X (or FLDIGI,etc.)? Also, has anyone been able to run a digital program using a USB soundcard? I have a Star Tech 7.1 connected to my RPi. At the moment I am trying to get it to work with WSJT-X. I am running Debian Jessie. The sound card is recognized by the OS. When I run WSJT-X and select the Audio tab and select the Input drop down, there is a list of 22 sound cards none of which is the USB card. A similar issue exists on the Output selection. I don’t understand what I am seeing. How do I get to see the USB card in WSJT-X? Note that I have made forum postings on WSPRnet and RPi ham Yahoo groups without yet getting a solution. I hope someone can help with this very frustrating situation. Also note that this is my first experience with a RPi and my Linux knowledge is limited. 73, Jim WA4YWM --- This email has been checked for viruses by AVG. http://www.avg.com __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com

[Elecraft] K2 BFO problem - need suggestions
Greetings everyone, I have a 4+ year old K2 which has provided spotless service for me until recently. I began to have an audio issue in that on power up I would not have audio. I could get it back intermittently by either powering down and back up or by switching through the modes. In doing some basic troubleshooting I discovered that by touching the L33 coil in the BFO I would have audio again. While checking the BFO frequency using the internal frequency counter I discovered that when I did not have audio the frequency was reading either 4.5 or 5.5 Mhz depending on the sideband selected. After regaining audio the frequency would be back at 4.9 MHz. Thus, it appears the oscillator is oscillating but at an incorrect frequency until I introduce my body capacitance. Can anyone help me in troubleshooting so that I could isolate the component or does anyone know of the most likely cause of such a problem? [Elecraft] PSK31 using data mode
I have encountered a problem using PSK31 in data mode with my K2. I have been successfully using PSK31 with a homebrew interface for several months with the K2 in USB mode. I recently decided to use PSK31 in the data mode to take advantage of its automatic selection of no compression and its DSP selection of no noise reduction and no auto-notch while allowing me to have my own bandwidth selections just for PSK31. My software is Digipan. The problem that I noticed is that the receiving frequency of a station I am watching on the waterfall is actually approximately 1 KHz higher than its actual frequency. For example, a station could be transmitting on 7070.5 and I will see its signal on 7071.5 and nowhere else (i.e. "ghosting" is not occurring). I determined this by conducting a test with a nearby ham. I assume that I am also transmitting on that same frequency (7071.5) although we were unable to verify that. I am certainly not transmitting on the correct frequency since I was never able to make contact with anyone over a number of attempts. I have generally had no problems conducting QSOs with anyone. Has anyone else seen this problem or have a possible solution? TNX & 73, Jim WA4YWM ___ Elecraft mailing list Post to: Elecraft@mailman.qth.net You must be a subscriber to post to the list. [Elecraft] PSK31
Greetings, I am looking into getting started on PSK31 using the K2. I have the KPA-100 as well. I have read the WA7SPY app note and several items on the reflector. I have a basic question. Where can you get a connector to interface to the K2 microphone connector? No one seems to address that issue. Also, can you use the K2 Remote Control software to control the PTT for PSK31 or is there a PSK31 package out there that controls the K2? [Elecraft] K2/100 RFI problem using Astron 20A
I am in the testing phase of my KPA-100 construction using an Astron 20A power supply. When I attempt to adjust the power of the K2 in Tune mode it will reset at levels between 40-90W depending on the band selected. I tried adjusting the power using a battery and I was successful to 100W without having a reset. Therefore the problem points to the Astron. Tech Support mentioned to me that this is a problem that has happened a number of times. I have tried ferrite beads on the DC lines, a capacitor across the '+' & '-' leads and verifying that the '-' lead is connected to the case (a solution that I found on the web). Nothing has helped. I haven't found anything on the discussion list addressing this issue. Has anyone had this problem ?
