Anyone have an idea of just how much power the T-R sw. in the KPA100 would handle over the 100 watts it is handling . 300 -400 watts? I can give you some practical experience if you so choose. I live near Ovid which is not too far from Gaines. Remember the DSP is an audio device and a strong signal will push the AGC up. However I am able to copy through some very strong signals with the notch engaged. We have some great tuner uppers on 75. I sometimes think this is how some do their hamming... The notch is left on when chatting for this reason Contact me off list if you would like to play with the DSP , would need a little time to get rid of the mess.. My thanks to Don Wilhelm and Jack Brindle. Yep, it turned out to be a short that was pulling J1-2 to ground. I had a couple of .01 caps and so cut them loose ( C3 & C6 ) . But still shorted. New Max1406 coming from Elecraft. After removing the IC the negative voltage on pin 8 was then a healthy -12v. Here are some voltage measurements made this morning. U1-1 14.12 shud be 14 U1-2 -1.3mv".1 U1-3 13.65 "14 U1-4 -5.4mv" .1 U1-5 -.017mv " -8 U1-6 -2.38" .1 U1-7 13.66 " 14 U1-8 -3.13" -9 U1-9 0" 0 U1-10 0 " 0 U1-11 4.89 " 5 U1-12 4.98 " 5 U1-13 4.89 " 4.5 U1-14 0 " 0 U1-15 4.89 " 4.5 U1-16 4.89 " 5 Wonder if getting voltage on pin 8 would to proper level would cure the problem? [Elecraft] No bar graph on XV50
Hi all, have just put up my 6 mtr. beam and have been listening on 6 but not hearing any sigs yet. Have noticed that I can not get the XV50 to go to bar graph display when transmitting. Continues to remain in dot mode. Could be a bad U4 or perhaps some other malfunction. The K2 is functioning in bar graph mode. Any ideas? I have had a problem similar to this. Occasionally when through talking the K2 does not return in the full receive mode. The rig seems to be muted. I found early on that by quickly tapping the PTT button that the receiver returns to full volume. Could possibly be a sticking relay in my amp. Sooner or later if the PTT tapping does not work I shall be forced to look for the reason. [Elecraft] Elecraft MD2 mic
Hello all. I now have 3 mics.The Heil with HC5 element(has the Elecraft site amp in place), the MH by Heil & Elecraft and now the MD2 ( couldn't pass up a deal ). The MD2 is definitely better ( stock audio system in the K2 ) than the others in that I can talk the rig up with no special effort. Vox even works well. Anyone know if I can get a few more dB's from the amp listed on the Elecraft site with a simple resistor change? Hi, Ian. I too have the HC-5 element from Heil. A short time ago I built the mic amp shown on the Elecraft site. I haywired it together and put it inside the mic housing. It has been a very good addition for me. I have not experienced any problems and now things work well. Now on to build the anti- vox circuit by G3RXQ.
