hi everyone, would like to ask the group about a problem. I had no problem with my K2 connecting with my N4PY software before a KAT/100 update from 1.09 to 1.10. ever since the update and service to the radio, I can not connnect with my control software. Even with ham radio delux, it locates the comport, but when trying to connect with frequency on radio, the program can not. Has anyone run into this problem before? [Elecraft] hello to all K2/100 owners, advise needed
I recently got my K2 serviced and updated. I was told by the technician that I needed to tighten the mounting screws on Q1 and Q2 after 10 to 12 hours of use. Failure to do so could destroy the transitors. I have read the KPA/100 manual and it says to tighten these mounting screws after initial use. My radio is 6 years old. Do I still have to try and remove the board to tighten these mounting screws periodically when using high power(100 watts). If so needed, can I access these mounting screws easily or do I have to remove the KPA100 PCB? My K2/100 and KAT100 really performs well since it was updated and correction of a problem fixed. I do not work on radios, but I would try and do this maintanence if needed to prolong the life of the transitors. Guys, I need some advise.I wrote last night about the keyer problem I had with my K2. That has been resolved. Now I have a new problem that surfaced late last night. I was using the automatic antenna tuner and on 20 meters and it seemed it was laboring tryin to tune. It tuned alright. Then I went to 40 meters and had no recieve but full power out. I checked 20 meters again and only had 50 watts out at full power. There must be a connection to these two bands operation and construction of the radio. Hows that for basic theory, hi hi. I am somewhat discussed since I have put this radio up for sale. What I want to ask if recommendations for repair of my K2. Is there a place in Pa.? I will also check on the reviews of repair sites. Thanks for offerring advise. John K3JK ___ Elecraft mailing list Post to: Elecraft@mailman.qth.net You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Subscriber Info (Addr. John K3JK here, Would someone give me some feedback on my K2? I plugged a mono plug into my keyer jack when I was using an external keyer. I might have shorted a resistor or diode. now as soon as i plug the keyer in with a stereo plug, i get a constant carrier. When I had the mono plug in the keyer jack, i keyed the rig once. Could I have blown shorted something in the keying circuit? John K3JK ___ Elecraft mailing list Post to: Elecraft@mailman.qth.net You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Subscriber Info (Addr. Hello fellow hams, I want to post this to the group to take advantage of the K2. I have for sale a K2/100, KAT/100: Ø VFOs with multiple memories Ø Slpit TX/RX operation, RIT/XIT. Full break in CW, memory keyer, Ø Narrow IF crystal filtering, excellent RX dynamic range and IF derived AGC Ø Covers 160 to 10 meter ham bands Ø Serial number 3898 , DSP module(KDSP2), 160 module (K160RX), 60 meter module(K60XV) as well as the KAT100-1 antenna tuner, updates with 2.04P firmware and has the latest K@ keying modification. Ø Also included QRP top cover w/speaker Ø Documentation and test cables are included radio is fully functional and in alignment Ø KAT100-1 antenna tuner supports 2 antenna inputs. KAT100 can easily handles 150 watts, and the 10 LEDS monitor SWR during transmit. Ø K160RX module adds 160 mtrs TX/RX and a antenna input useable for all bands. Ø KSB2 ads SSB and data modes to the K2 transceiver. It can be used with any dynamic or condenser microphone. I have two mikes(regular and desk mike) desk mike needs resistor across terminals to operate. Ø KSB2 has been modified with K16WX reduction intermodulation/distortion and increased Gain : modification is well documented. Ø KDSP2 provides up to four user-configurable filters in each mode(CW/SSB/data) Ø CW filter settings include center frequency and bandwidth, with "hard" and "soft" filter algorithms and bandwidths as narrow as 50 HZ Ø SSB filters provide programmable low and high cutoff frequencies. Ø Four levels of noise reduction are available in cw and ssb Ø SSB mode includes automatic notch filter. Ø KIO2 aux I/O module for computer control John Klokis K3JK will discuss price thru email. Lets keep the focus on the rig. thanks, John K3JK ___ Elecraft mailing list Post to: Elecraft@mailman.qth.net You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Subscriber Info (Addr. first of all I want to thank everyone for replying to my question. I should have told you how I hooked it up. I have the regular k2 cable that interfaces with the antenna tuner, then goes into a long cable with the serial connector. so it has three serial connectors. I plugged a radio shack serial port to usb cable into the female connector that goes to the computer and thenthe usb connector into my computer. I had already installed the software for the Radio Shack cable. Then everytime i ran the software (n4py) , my computer crashed and rebooted itself. Did the software get corrupted in the radio control program, or was the radio shack serial port to USB cable not the right cable to use? And what kind of cable the Elecraft sell. Does it have the three serial connectors on? Then where is the USB connector? Or does it have two serials and one USB conector. Reinstalled the software and it worked fine for the jupiter. Did not try it again with the K2. Looking for some feedback. Hopefully I did not damage the rig. The rig operates fine now though. Good afternoon this is John Klokis, kb3hqh. I recently became a proud owner of a Elecraft K2 with 100 watt option and automatic antenna tuner. I would like to ask you for some help in getting the right computer cable to run the setup I have with my computer. I do not need to run the antenna tuner if it is to complicated to interface. I canuse an outboard tuner. I do not have a serial port with my new desktop. I only have USB ports. I am running a Ten Tec Jupiter with a serial port to USB cable from radio shack. I can not connect this cable to the K2. I have been reading on the reflector that the computer cable is different on the K2. Is this correct? And can you advise me on what cable to use with a USB port? Is there a cable that I can use just with a USB port and software to install the cable? Thanks again, John Klokis kb3hqh ___ Elecraft mailing list Post to: Elecraft@mailman.qth.net You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Subscriber Info (Addr.
