[Elecraft] K2\100 going to Guyana
Hi All, Just a short note, my DX-ped partner (AH8DX-8R1EA) and I are preparing to leave this sunday evening,Feb.26th., for Guyana 8R1 land on another "suitcase" DX-ped, plan on being in Georgetown on Tuesday Feb. 28th, and hopefully set up soon afterwards. I have applied for the call 8R1ZUM, and plan on doing mostley RTTY while I am there, then the ARRL Dx phone test, and a litte more RTTY after the test, leave for home on Tuesday March 7th. I will be taking my K2\100 plus small solid state amp, single butternut vertical. If anybody on the Elecraft reflector needs Guyana on RTTY, this will be a good opportunity. 73 de K7ZUM Ken in Gres"HAM" Ore btw, I don't know if anybody else on the reflector does this, but everytime I turn my K2 on, and use if on a DX-ped hour after hour, I sit and look at this itty bitty radio, and am just amazed at how something so small, can be so good ! anybody else do this ? ___ Elecraft mailing list Post to: Elecraft@mailman.qth.net You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Re: [Elecraft] Cooling fans
Ten-Tec has a very nice model 310 cooling fan for the Orion,Omni,Corsair series radios, that fits very nicely on the top of the K2/100, hangs a little bit off the rear, and if you use the tilt bail on the K2, you can use a rubber band to temp hold it on, have used it this way many times, works well 73 de K7ZUM Ken in Gres"HAM" Ore > Kevin, > > The easiest solution is to simply lay the fan (horizontally) across the heat > sink fins. [Elecraft] strange pwr out on RTTY
HI All, Have been playing around in the SARTG RTTY test this weekend, and have noticed a power problem with my K2\KPA100. If I am on 20 or 15 mtrs, in the RTTY mode, I have little if any pwr output control, even though the display shows 0 to 110 watts, my watt meter will only show about 20-30 watts at most, and about the only way to adjust pwr out (driving a linear) is to crank up a little more mic input (running a Hal DXP-38 box) but when I change bands to 80,40,10 mtrs, in the RTTY mode, works just fine, also, if I go to 20 or 15 mtrs, and change from the RTTY mode, and switch to LSB, I have complete power output control, this is only happening on 20 and 15 mtrs, anybody have any ideals ??? I am at a loss ??? 73 de K7ZUM Ken in Gres"HAM" Ore ___ Elecraft mailing list Post to: Elecraft@mailman.qth.net You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Subscriber Info (Addr. [Elecraft] K2 first light, no first light !
Hi All, Am working on putting my secound K2 together, have run into a bit of a problem, am on the "first light" alignment and test, part 1, K2 powers up, info 201 comes on (and disapears) then the elecraft and 7100.cc c, everything seems fine to that point, but, not a single button will work, the VFO knob will not change the display, nothin, up till this point, every check, every resistance check was spot on, have checked all boards for any unsoldered joints, bridges, parts placement etc, (using a lighted magnifing glass, eyes are getting old !)anybody have any ideals as to where to start to check ?? 73 de K7ZUM Ken in Gres"HAM" Ore ___ Elecraft mailing list Post to: Elecraft@mailman.qth.net You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Thanks to all who answered my initial question about missing a few dits, and now I know that it is "normal" with an easy work around, now I'll use a single "dah" (instead of "dits") seems to bring the power up almost immediate. and btw, Ron, you would not belive what kind of weird neo-geo-gravitational wiz bang super duper electron charged flux we gots going on over here in East County !! 73 de K7ZUM Ken in Gres"HAM" Ore Hi All, After a few months delay of ignoring my K2, I finally got back to putting the audio board, keying mod and new firmware in, and have noticed what I think is a new problem for me, (not sure if it wasn't there before) When in CW mode, (have the 100 watt pa board) and I first key up, I get nothing out, seems to take about 2 to 3 dits before power comes up, after that, all is fine, If I change bands, the same thing happens, go back to the previous band, its the same, 2 to 3 dits, power comes up, have noticed, that usually on the 2 or third dit, it only comes up to maybe 20-30 watts, then full 100 watts, this does not seem normal, did I forget to turn something on ? or off ?? anybody else come across this ??? 73 de K7ZUM Ken in Gres"HAM" Ore ___ Elecraft mailing list Post to: Elecraft@mailman.qth.net You must be a subscriber to post to the list.
