Re: [Elecraft] [K3] Elecraft Support?

2021-03-25 Thread Randy Lake
You are not alone John. I can only imagine the position they must be in
with supply and employee issues. It does not excuse the lack of
communication.
I had an issue with my KIO3B. They did not have any replacement boards so I
was told to send in mine and they would repair. This was in January when I
sent it out. The only communication I have received has been their receipt
acknowledgement and I have reached out a few times.
Tough times !

[Elecraft] K3 KIO3B boards fix

2021-01-27 Thread Randy Lake
Anyone on the list able to check out my 3 KIO3B boards ? Elecraft has that
on backorder.
The reason for asking is that I lost comm, via USB, with the radio. The
computer sees no COM port and no Audio card.
Please ?

Re: [Elecraft] Elecraft K3s, etc. bonding

2020-04-23 Thread Randy Lake
Ok. I am sure I will get the wrath of God for going in this direction but
here we go. I was licensed in 91 and have put together 2 average so contest
stations with no grounds. None what so ever except power grounds. I have a
bunch of equipment, not intentionally interconnected, that has had no issue
in all that time. If I had seen something that led me to fix an issue I
certainly would have. Safety ? Maybe. I am just not sure that the thousands
of dollars that could be put into this type of grounding is necessary, in
my part of the world.
So, no grounds on lugs of any equipment, no grounds on tower (100') no
grounding of coax. Aside lightning strikes, which I have had and not issue,
what can I gain from spending the $$$ ?
If someone can convince me I will consider.

I have not used the Sub in a very long time. I tried to use it last evening
and I get no audio out of that channel. It is using the correct antenna

A I do get A out of both speakers. Sub AF is balance .
I have gone through the manual and see nothing that stands out but before I

[Elecraft] PR6 not working properly

2017-11-29 Thread Randy Lake
Good morning all. This morning, on 6m, I am finding that the PR6 is
attenuating the signal when the RX Ant button is engaged. I have power
going to it,ie I can hear the relay kick in when the power is applied. I am
not using Digout(control line) and the jumper on P2 is on. Is there a way
to test the PR6?
Any guidance would be appreciated.
73,

Buy a new Sub and I am sure someone on here would be more than happy to,
for shipping, get you an old Synth board.

Good evening all. After seeing all the posts on GPSDO's I need a bit of
advice and clarification.
I have a K3 with new Synth boards (main and sub). I am thinking I need
equipment for freq stabilization/reference. I am looking at all of the
following and am not sure if I actually need all or any, and if I should,
do I need all of the following:
Will be using - *K144XV

2 M 10w Option*
*KTCXO3-1 TCXO*
*K3EXREF* *Ext. Frequency Reference Input*
*K144RFLK K144XV Reference Lock Board *
Leo Bodnar GPS Frequency Reference (or something similar)
Any guidance will be greatly appreciated!

Re: [Elecraft] New external speaker for K3

I myself would not want Elecraft to spend one second developing a product
that is already available elsewhere. To really make use of the K3's
abilities you want stereo speakers and ones with Bose on the front do the
job very nicely!

Re: [Elecraft] How do I generate a "Key Down" to tune an external 6m amp?

2014-01-18 Thread Randy Lake
If I am not mistaken I think the "proper" way of tuning the amp is with a
pulser or sending a string of dits at say 60wpm not a solid tone.

I also use the Bose Companion II with not a hint of RFI. I am feeding from
the rear Ext Spkr jack, I run 1500w on cw/rtty/phone with no issues.
They sound great for both K3 audio and music. For their size they pack some
punch.

Re: [Elecraft] External speaker recommendation.....

I am currently using the Bose Companion2 Series 2. They sound really nice.
They are roughly 3in.x 7in. and dual inputs so I can have the radio and my
system sound card going into it without having to switch or have a second
set of speakers. I think I got them on www.woot.com for around $70.

Re: [Elecraft] Noise Cancelling Headphones

The Bose QC15's are very nice for sure. The price, as with all Bose
products, is way too high. I use them for CW/ digital contests and the
CM-500's for phone contests. I like the CM-500's very much. They are very
comfortable but do not have the isolation that one would want in a multi
environment.
