[Elecraft] K2 is dead.
While listening the K2 just cut off. When I try to turn it on, the lcd flashes on and immediately back off, as if, the MCU was shutting it off. The power supply voltage is fine and there are no external fuses blown. Where should I look first? [Elecraft] K2/100 Transmit Problems
I have had my KPA100 installed and working properly before. I had to remove it to work on transmit power problems in the base K2. All of the problems in the base K2 were solved. It will now transmit at 2, 5, or 10 watts on all bands. When I connect it to the KPA100, I get .1 watt 1-0 no matter where the power setting is and that's on all bands. Some bands have a little different SWR reading but none will conduct RF. The manual says to check soldered joints and transformers and coils which I've done. They all seem to be doing fine. [Elecraft] K2 Transmit Alignment
I had trouble aligning on all bands with the KPA. So, I rewound T5 and found D21 broken and replaced it. Now, the power is erratic. I once had the 2 watts set on 7100 hz and now it won't go above 0.1 watts. Is there a way to reset the K2 power output? I've gone clear back to the beginning and everything works perfectly until I get to the transmitter alignment. No, I don't have the KPA100 connected. [Elecraft] KAT100
I just completed my KAT100. The lights on the front light up and the relays click, but, the K2 does not recognize that the ATU is connected. I have checked all solder joints with a magnifying glass and performed all the steps under troubleshooting in the manual. Also, I have a new Astron RS35M power supply and can visually watch the voltage on power up of the K2. The needle doesn't move. Any suggestions? [Elecraft] K2-100 Alignment Installation problems
Page 46 of the manual where I turn on the K2, I DO NOT see NO PA PS as called for in the manual. When I tap display my voltage has dropped to 11.3 volts. Measured at the source it is still 13.5. Measuring the voltage at Junction of C77 R11 I get 74.1 volts which is not in the range specified. At J3+ lead I get -0.004 volts. Page 47 adjusting C27 to move the 4Mhz oscillator frequency has no effect on the oscillator. When I place the K2 in Tune, the display only shows power and does not show the SWR. C1 has no effect on SWR. Page 48 after connecting high current power supply the voltage readout at Display is still 11.5 volts and voltage measured at source is 13.85. I looked at the troubleshooting instructions and found nothing that would help me with this low voltage display problem nor the low voltage at C77 R11. Does anyone have any ideas??? [Elecraft] K2 Transmitter Problems
Don, I tested the transformers T3 T4 at their solder pads for continuity and they were all about 0.1 ohms and I checked them through the full set of windings that are connected and got 0.2 ohms. I also checked the number of turns, etc. and found nothing wrong. On the LPF sections I was only able to use the K2 Cheap Dirty method and I can get signals through all bands up to 20 meters. From 20 meters up, there doesn't seem to be enough signal in my 40 meter inverted V antenna or there is something stopping the signal through the LPF for those bands. Should the antenna provide enough signal to more than click in the headphones? It certainly does on 80, 40 30 meters. Any more suggestions? [Elecraft] K2 Transmitter Alignment problems
I've done all the construction up to the transmitter alignment on the base K2. I do not have a signal generator that puts out 0.14 volts. Bought the N-Gen and it doesn't provide a strong enough signal for signal tracing. So, how do I find my problems cure? Transmit on 40 meters, 30 meters 20 meters works perfectly. i.e. I can align for 2 watts out. Transmit on all other bands will not show more than 0.2 watts out. I've re-soldered all joints in the LPF and BPF circuits. I've checked the values of all capacitors in those areas. Any ideas? Do I need a signal generator to signal trace? [Elecraft] K2-Transmit problems
At first I had no transmit. I found the problem in T2 where the winding wire had not made a good connection. Now, I have 17.4 watts power no matter what I do. The V-Power signal from U8 Pin 2 on the Control Board is 0.00 in Tune. Changing the Power setting has no effect on the Power readout. I started signal tracing the Transmitter and at D7 found 0.034 in Tune. Before I had the correct 7.67. So, is this where the problem is or is it more serious??? Any help appreciated! [Elecraft] K2 Troubleshooting
My reason for troubleshooting is there is NO SOUND. I can hear the sidetone when I turn it on. I cannot hear the 7000hz tone. 1. My reference oscillator output is 0.511.a little low. 2. VCO output is okay. 3. BFO output is okay. 4. Mixer, I.F. amplifier, Crystal filter = 0.00 vdc. So, I started with the control board. U1 voltages are okay. U3 voltages are okay. U4 is a little low at 7.80 vdc. U5 is perfect. U6-U10 are okay. The problems: 1. U2 voltages are around 3.27 vdc instead of 6.9 vdc input voltage is 7.80 on pin 8. I didn't want to move on to the RF board without finding the problem with the Control Board. Do you have any suggestions for finding where the U2 voltages are dropping off. [Elecraft] K2 [DISPLAY] Button
I'm building a K2. The [DISPLAY] button shows a voltage of less than 2 volts and it is erratic and, the current is shown as 0.00. I have checked the voltages at U3 and they are 2.633 at pin 5, 6, 7, and 13.75 at pins 2 3. Pin 1 is .571. I measured the voltage at Vsense on the MCU pin 5 and it was 2.669. [Elecraft] K2 - Toroids
I just wound my first toroid for the K2. It is supposed to be RFC14, 18microhenries, 10 turns. I measured the inductance with my LC Meter IIB and it measures 31 microhenries. Is this okay?
