[Elecraft] K-3 Odd problem on 160m (second posting)
I put up a new 160m dipole and SSB signals sound as if something is pumping the AGC while it's in the slow mode. SSB Stations sound much better with Fast AGC. I have a Dunstar 600 but since I am using the aux ant jack it's not used on receive. Perhaps I should reconfigure to add the Dunstar? BTW, when listening on the K9AY loop, signals sounds much better perhaps normal (no pumping). I had a defective fan in my factory built K3. Sounded like an airplane was on the desk. After determining which one was bad, I received a replacement immediately. [Elecraft] K3 Newbie
I've been a subscriber to this list since the day I ordered the K3 back in March 2008. The factory assembled and tested radio is due to arrive next week. I'd like to hear about any issues previously listed here I need to read before next week. Please respond to me OFF-LIST as I am sure this request is not interesting to the old timers. No sense in disrupting the flow of current info with my silly (perhaps, even lazy) request. I need all the time-saving help I can get since rewiring the station to integrate the K3 in the first operating position will take some time. Contest season is upon us. I'm using N1MM software for contests with Logic 8/TRX Manager for daily contacts and moving the FT-1000MP to the second position. [Elecraft] Stop the skidding
The very best material for stopping anything from skidding on the radio desk is shelf liner. It seems to be made of a soft rubbery material that has a cross hatch pattern with holes in it. It's very easy to cut with office size scissors. I use it primarily for keys and paddles. Comes in colors at Home Depot.
