[Elecraft] 135ft flat-top with K2, KAT2, BL2, and 450 ohm feedline

2006-10-02 Thread jean-marc bourdereau
About link-coupled tuners, I'd like to point to Emtech's ZM-2 ATU:
http://emtech.steadynet.com/zm2.shtml
Still not managed to give the front plate color same as K2.
It is stuck over the K2 with 2 pieces of double sided (reworkable)tape.
I no longer use the K2 internal ATU. Nor a balun. QRP power is too precious to
be wasted in heat.
I'm using a 2*20m inverted Vee, top at 25m height, with 300 Ohms slotted ribbon
line. Easy match on all bands, except 160m (that would be OT).
72 to the gang,

[Elecraft] Wire Antennas and feedline for the KX1

2006-09-21 Thread jean-marc bourdereau
I do the same as Martin writes.
Modeling transmission lines with Eznec is difficult for me...
You could also use TLA by N6BV.

[Elecraft] Re: Pelican case for just the K2

2006-09-19 Thread jean-marc bourdereau
Hi Charlie,
I have a Pelican 1400 for my K2.
Just enough room left for a mini-paddle and some connectors.
No need to put it sideways. Just put the rig over the foam, and cut.
Connectors on the right side, buttons on the left, or vice-versa.
BTW, I install it upside down : easier to pull the rig out with the
tilt stand as a handle.
My KX-1 (complete station) fits snugly inside a Peli 1060.
Regards,
Jean-Marc, F5LCI 99.9%CW QRP

[Elecraft] Re: Open Wire Feed Line Arrestor

2006-01-09 Thread jean-marc bourdereau
I had used a "loop skywire" for 80 and up. The solution to drain static (and
more) was found in RadCom's Technical topics many years ago : I permanently
grounded the point opposite to the feed one, where there is 0 volt. No change
for the link coupler.
Modelling with Eznec confirmed that the ground wire radiation is very low.
BTW it led to another use :
For top band DX, the open wire line was shorted and the antenna worked as a
"top loaded-top fed" vertical.
Eznec showed that the antenna worked as well as a far higher vertical.

[Elecraft] K2 : antenna data(ANT1/2)per VFO(A/B)

2005-10-07 Thread jean-marc bourdereau
Hi all,
Would there be any interest to store antenna data(ANT1/2)per VFO(A/B), allowing
to work split with different RX and TX antennas ?
Sometimes it can help, for instance when propagation conditions are not
"reciprocal".
I already have the separate rx ant (with the ATU), but it is dedicated to top
band.
Could this be easily implemented in an hypothetic firmware upgrade (like the
cross-mode VFOs) ?
K2 #4430 is a joy, except for backpacking, and PeliCase is heavy.
I'm waiting for his little brother (KX-1), but the UPS tracking log is full of
various delays.
Best regards de F5LCI, from near Gay-Lussac birthplace (is his name still on
all alcoholic drinks labels ?)
