[Elecraft] AX1 antenna

2019-08-30 Thread beruberu
Hello,
Last night I made a qso with my KX3 (15w ssb) and your AX1 MULTI-BAND
WHIP ANTENNA. I made a contact from the fields near Geneva
(Switzerland) and ZY40ZT (8500km). What a nice great "small antenna".
I could not belive it, but I was. Thanks a lot for those really nice
products you make!!! (maybe world record!) 73 qro from

[Elecraft] AX1 Antenna Suction Cup Window Mount

2019-08-20 Thread MaverickNH
I picked up an 8-pack of these suction cup window candle holders from Amazon
for $7.99
https://www.amazon.com/Holiday-Joy-Strongest-Christmas-Celebration/dp/B01G6ED64K/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_201_t_0?_encoding=UTF8=1=8QNVHSVD55PT9X9D610K

Three fit on the base tube of the AX1 antenna, clamp it tightly without
crushing, and hold the antenna to the outside of a hotel window with the
Elecraft tripod base and coax attached, as well as two counterpoise tossed
left and right.

Good to operate with KX2/3 or WSPRlite as I’m doing now. This particular
hotel has windows with metal trim and the antenna touches the trim to muck
up TX. Next trip I’ll have some silicone rubber tubing to insulate such
contact. Uber-light with AX1, 3 suction cups, tripod mount and 2
counterpoise, 10ft RG174 coax with Mix31 ferrite bead, WSPRlite, USB cable
and wall wart to AC mains. Fits in a baggie in a sneaker in my luggage.

See me on 20m WSPR at 200mW in FN20 through 8/22/19 in the AM if you can...

[Elecraft] AX1 antenna - indoor performance initial results

2019-01-12 Thread Mike Parkes
Hello everyone in Elecraft land!
I just wanted to share my initial results with the AX1 with my KX3 and I am
happy to report contacts on 20 meters at 2 watts on the AX1 from indoors,
the antenna just sitting on the table here in the shack! The contacts were
on wspr mode and I was getting out, but I have yet to decode anything. But
I know the little AX1 can be heard so I am confident reception would be
there if the environment was a little quieter! I have rfi/qrm noise issues
in the shack here so reception is always a challenge. Just wanted to share
that, this little antenna is very cool.

Received my AX1 yesterday, so small but a gorgeous piece of engineering !!
Put it to the test this morning...I had just made a Q on 20m with Keith,
KR7RK doing a SOTA activation from IL with my KX3 @ 80w, I’m in FL.

I set up my K1 and new AX1 antenna with a table top tripod inside my screened
in porch.
Keith was still calling CQ SOTA, I called and he returned my call. The K1 was
set at 7 watts, the antenna tuned up 1.1 swr.

I was amazed, it really worked !! Thanks for another great piece of Elecraft

My presentation, from 3:30 to 4:30 PM, is on antennas for ultra-portable HF

If you’re interested in attending the symposium, check the website

As part of my talk I’ll be discussing a new portable antenna, the Elecraft AX1,

[Elecraft] Elecraft AX1 antenna prototype & Pacificon antenna symposium

2017-10-19 Thread Wayne Burdick
I’ll be speaking at Pacificon's antenna symposium tomorrow (Friday, Oct. 20th).
My presentation, from 3:30 to 4:30 PM, is on antennas for ultra-portable HF
operation. This talk was a late addition, a previous speaker having dropped out.

If you’re interested in attending the symposium, check the website
(pacificon.org). Tickets must be purchase in advance.

As part of my talk I’ll be discussing a new portable antenna, the Elecraft AX1,
designed specifically for the KX2 and KX3. We’ll also be showing the prototype
at our booth.

We’re not taking orders for the AX1 yet, so please don’t call Elecraft Hq about
it :) That said, I’ll be happy to send out an early draft of the FAQ on
request. Please email me directly.

73,
Wayne
