[Elecraft] IT'S ALIVE!!!

K2 S/N 5953 came to life at 1402 UTC 15 Feb 2007 with 40 meter 8 watt SSB
contacts with New Hartford, NY, Centerville, IN, and Fort Wayne, IN.
Received good signal reports from all around and even better comments once
all found out I was QRP and using an Elecraft K2. This kit was a smooth
build and alignment went right by the book. - Charles N3EJS

[Elecraft] It's Alive!!!

2005-01-26 Thread Jeff Hetherington
Hey Everybody.

It's Alive! It's Alive!! Time for the Happy Dance.

It is official ... K2 #3375 is Now Alive and Well.

Finished the building on 25 January (my birthday ... what a present) and
plugged it in this afternoon. Called a few CQ's, and made sure I could hear
myself on the KX1 across the room ... all seems well.

My XYL bought me an Elecraft HexKey #E087 for my birthday, so I will have
the full Elecraft Station set up and making some QSO's through the day to
try out all the features.

All I can say so far is WOW for both the K2 and the HexKey ...

A full report later ... off to lunch and then BACK ON THE AIR! Should be
fun for a week or two before I break down, take it off the air and start on
the SSB board, I/O Board, Autotuner and 160m board.

2007-02-15 Thread Matthew D. Pitts
Congratulations: I'm hoping to have #5956 up and on the air (listening
only until the 23 ) on Saturday or Sunday. I'm close to finishing up the
second stage of construction on the RF Board; wound the toroids last
night but didn't install them yet.

Re: [Elecraft] It's alive!

2014-11-16 Thread Randy Diddel
Hi Greg. I think in Yahoo Digest 3503 you posed your question. Be sure to
follow up there with your results. I am posting this to the Elecraft
Reflector. I am certain that the other person on the Yahoo reflector having
this issue will be happy to know what you/we did.-not to mention
Elecraft(but they probably already know). It does seem to point to the
driver and not the cable on the Windows side!

If I was willing to be scientific, I would try to brick the KX3 again and
see if the first cable I used is in fact OK on the Mac but I think I will
just be happy with my solution.

I am going to stay away from 2.27 Beta for now and just enjoy the radio. HI

[Elecraft] It's Alive! K2/100 #4672

2005-01-20 Thread Keith Regli
It came alive with no great problems earlier this week. I've been playing
around the last couple of days and haven't found anything to worry about
yet. The RX is really good.

I had a lot of fun building it, the biggest problem was switching back and
forth between reading glasses, magnifying goggles and unassisted vision. It
was a lot easier when I was younger! For those starting out, don't fear the
toroids - they aren't that much trouble. And when something doesn't make
sense, take a walk and look at it again - it has worked for lots of people,
so there must be a sensible way to interpret the instructions.

[Elecraft] It's ALIVE!!! ...And a quick alignment question...

2011-12-11 Thread David Dietrich
Hi All!

IT'S ALIVE!!!  K2 #7164 is finally up and running as of last night!  The SMT
diode on the bottom of the board wasn't properly connected to the daughter
board.  There was a pad, but it wasn't connected to the actual component.  A
couple hairs of wire fixed everything!  Happy Day!!

I also have a quick question about installing options and aligning the radio a
little more.  After I install my options, I might need to tighten up the
alignment a little more.  As long as I do not have the ATU connected, I can do
any alignment with the other options installed without having to remove
anything?  The options I have are: Noise Blanker, 160 Meters, SSB Module, Audio
Filter (not DSP), and the Tuner.

Thanks & 73,

David

[Elecraft] It's Alive! KPA500 kit on the air

2011-06-28 Thread Fred Atchley
KPA500 kit S/N 115 is up and running! I ordered early on the 1st day and it
arrived this Monday afternoon. I took my time and had fun putting it
together. I got to bed at exactly 1 AM. Everything checks out OK, even the
interface with WriteLog using Interface ll (serial 001.) The optional cable
provides a "Y" connector for the AUX line as well as automatic linkage with
the K3. The wait was worth it.

Re: [Elecraft] It's ALIVE!!! ...And a quick alignment question...

2011-12-20 Thread EMD
Hello David,

Great news on your K2. I just finished mine a couple of months ago with a
couple of minor problems which I needed help getting fixed. I just got it
back earlier this month and have been having a lot of fun with this great
little rig. I was tuning around 10 meters and heard a station calling CQ so
I gave him a call. To my surprise he was in Croatia, 4400 miles from my
QTH. So needless to say it was quite exciting.

I can't help with the alignment but there are lots of folks on this
reflector that can.
