Re: [Elecraft] K3 FC issue with filters

2016-11-11 Thread ab2tc
Hi,

Now we are cooking. I am glad you found the real problem. There is virtually
0 probability that reloading the same firmware will fix anything. There is
no such thing as a "busted firmware load" except the kind that leaves the
"CPU load" or similar message indicating that the bootloader firmware has
detected that the main software is faulty. This is typically caused by
either a power failure, communications interruption or similar problem
during firmware reload. File corruptions on the PC are extremely rare and
should it happen, the bootloader will detect that, too.

Re: [Elecraft] K3 FC issue with filters

2016-11-11 Thread W0MU Mike Fatchett
I called the Elecraft to get some help with this. After removing the K3
out of line, removed computer control, amps, tuner etc. The problem was
gone.

I was running radio control with my logging software. I found a tab
where that software was sending the odd FC offsets.

Just like computers, always go back to the most basic configuration
possible and see if the problem is there if not then start adding in
pieces until you find the cause.

Thanks for help everyone and as usual the folks at Elecraft were quick
to call me back and get me on track.

Thanks from an embarrassed K3 owner.

This rig was just at Elecraft for updates. I have looked for
settings for this but have not found one.

Am I missing something here? Is this maybe a firmware glitch?

That would be "The passband is per band, per mode." ?

Re: [Elecraft] K3 FC issue with filters

2016-11-09 Thread Don Wilhelm

Mike,

The passband is per mode, per mode.
You will have better results if you use HiCut/LoCut for SSB and
SHIFT/WIDTH for CW.

Attempting to us SHIFT/WIDTH for SSB will give you uncertain results
since the last used settings on a particular band will be restored when
you go back to that band.
