Re: [Elecraft] KAT500: Not remembering antenna configuration
Hi Hoop, Was the ultimate solution to use the windows version of the utility (I assume so but thought I’d ask to be sure). I’m a new Mac user here and still need to configure the KPA1500 utility. 73, Bill WE5P Comfortably Numb > On Apr 13, 2023, at 16:30, JK Hooper via Elecraft > wrote: > > Hi all, > > Here is an update on my KAT500 Mac software utility problem, described below. > > I am able to configure my KAT500 just fine with the Windows version of the > KAT500 Utility using Windows 10 O/S, so, effectively, my “problem” of > configuring the KAT500 is solved. > > The Mac version of the KAT500 utility does not appear to be working correctly > with macOS Ventura 13.2.1, at least on my computer. > > I have let Elecraft support know. > > Special thanks to Andy K3WYC who emailed me quite a few times with > suggestions on troubleshooting and he pointed the way for me to track things > down. > > 73 > Hoop > K9QJS > > > > > On Apr 12, 2023, at 2:47 PM, JK Hooper wrote: > > Any insights on troubleshooting approaches for my KAT500 S/N 015XX which is > not remembering the antenna configurations I enter. Re: [Elecraft] KAT500: Not remembering antenna configuration
Hi all, Here is an update on my KAT500 Mac software utility problem, described below. I am able to configure my KAT500 just fine with the Windows version of the KAT500 Utility using Windows 10 O/S, so, effectively, my “problem” of configuring the KAT500 is solved. The Mac version of the KAT500 utility does not appear to be working correctly with macOS Ventura 13.2.1, at least on my computer. I have let Elecraft support know. Special thanks to Andy K3WYC who emailed me quite a few times with suggestions on troubleshooting and he pointed the way for me to track things down. 73 Hoop K9QJS On Apr 12, 2023, at 2:47 PM, JK Hooper wrote: Any insights on troubleshooting approaches for my KAT500 S/N 015XX which is not remembering the antenna configurations I enter. K4D - KPA500 - KAT500. KAT500 gets its power from the K4D auxiliary DC port. KAT500 is running latest firmware version 02.05. Mac Utility is version 1.21.10.9. I have reinstalled firmware. No change. I have reset to factory configuration, then reloaded configuration, no change. Some “for examples”: 1. Each time I open the KAT500 utility, the Maximum power (watts) on the Edit Configuration tab reverts to “1” watt. I previously selected “Optimize for KAT500.” 2. I will assign 20 m to both ANT 2 and ANT 3, for example, but this configuration reverts to no “Enabled” antennas and Preferred is “Ant 2.” On the other hand, the KAT500 appears to have correctly memorized the tuning settings. I operate with KAT500 in “MAN” and have previously gone through the bands memorizing tuning settings. The specific problem I have is that, for 6 meters, I want to use ANT 2 but the KAT500 is not letting me change from ANT 3. And while I am not using ANT 1, I’m not able to configure a band/antenna combination such that I can only switch between ANT 2 and ANT 3. [Elecraft] KAT500: Not remembering antenna configuration
"The specific problem I have is that, for 6 meters, I want to use ANT 2 but the KAT500 is not letting me change from ANT 3. And while I am not using ANT 1, I’m not able to configure a band/antenna combination such that I can only switch between ANT 2 and ANT 3. " I works correctly for me with Windows KAT500 utility ver 1.21.10.8. I first thought I had reproduced this problem but I found that KPA500 had not been switched to 6 m band because having the Utility in control had disabled my normal KAT500 control loop. Check the KAT500 is actually on 6 m before checking the front panel antenna selections. Band can be confirmed with utility Operate window or with BN; command from the command tester. (6 m should return BN10; ) I suppose it is possible the Mac utility has a bug that is not in the Windows version. If, after checking BN is correct, your antenna preferred and enabled values don't respond correctly you could try setting them with the command tester. AE1031;enables ANT 3 on 6 m AE1021;enables ANT 2 on 6 m AE1010;disables ANT 1 on 6 m Prefernece is set with AP e.g. AP102; sets ANT 2 as preferred for 6 m band. See command reference for more detail. Ensure band is selected correctly with BN; or BN10; before checking the front panel ANT selector response. Email is good on QRZ if you need more help. 73, Andy, k3wyc __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com
