[Elecraft] Pacificon
Another Pacificon has come and gone Seems like a great time was had by all. That certainly applies to those of us at the Elecraft booth, where it always feels like a reunion. I’d like to thank everybody who stopped by to kick the tires, tell stories, or just introduce themselves for the first (or Nth) time. Hard to keep track of so many great customers and acquaintances, but we try. I got stuck in traffic somewhere in deepest Hayward, California, and missed the opening hour of the exhibit hall on Friday. I understand all the AX1s we brought sold out within a few minutes. We’ll be better prepared in the future. Thanks for all the great ideas for future products and for improvements to current ones, as usual. 73, Wayne N6KR http://www.elecraft.com __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com

[Elecraft] Pacificon Zombie Flash Mob on 7.200 LSB
Dear Gang: There will be a flash mob meeting on 7.200 LSB (that's SSB) on Saturday, October 14, from 8pm - 12am. This used to be called the "Zombie Walk." This year, it has been expanded. You don't have to be walking. You don't even have to be at Pacificon. Join us from your car, your home QTH, or at the Pacificon Convention--especially if you can go pedestrian mobile. Show up anytime from 8pm to midnight. We will be headquartered in the Newport Beach Room at the Santa Clara Marriot. Head(less) Zombie Ken, WB6MLC, will be operating from there and may even have some spare Zombie makeup to share. Don't have a rig? Join Ken in the Newport Beach room. I will be operating from the main lobby with my KX3 and AlexLoop Walkham--though I may try to sneak onto the pool deck. We have set up a reflector, pacificonzom...@gmail.com, but it will only reflect an email once every four days. A better bet is to join our Yahoo group pacificonzomb...@yahoogroups.com for all the latest news. This group is not listed in the directory for spam prevention, but you can join it anyway. Just type in "PacificonZombies" in the search field on yahoogroups.com. Ken has already uploaded some interesting files--including a zombie badge that you can wear--with pride if not some ketchup--at Pacificon. This will be the only notice to this reflector--join the yahoo group if you want further info and updates. 73, Eric WD6DBM NOTE: My YAHOO account was hacked 9/21/12. Do not open any attachments unless I tell you it is OK. Delete any emails with "hi" in the subject line. I have changed all passwords and scanned all machines--I believe it was a netbot. [Elecraft] pacificon
Was at Pacificon today. The KPA500 looks amazingly small. About the same size as the K3, but 500 watts with a self-contained AC power supply. The integration with the K3 is pretty impressive, also. The delay in releasing it is rumored to be due, among other things, to waiting for FCC's seal of approval to work its way through the bureau. The 500 watt external antenna tuner (ANT500?) that Elecraft is rumored to be working on as a companion to the KPA500 sounds like a dynamite product -- when it ever sees the light of day. It is rumored to be a remotable, rf-sensing, automatic, balanced, 500 watt tuner. I think lots of people would buy it to run with a barefoot K3/100, even if they don't get a KPA500. Would be great between your ladder line and your coax run. [Elecraft] Pacificon kit-building forum this Saturday
I'll be talking about kits and kit construction in a forum at Pacificon this Saturday, from 1:15-2:15 PM in the San Ramon room. Please pass this along to any of your friends, in-laws, offspring, etc., who might want to try their hand at our favorite activity. I'll bring lots of examples of Elecraft kits, ranging from the DL1 dummy load to the K2/100. I may also bring a few one-of-a-kind radios that didn't quite make it out of the lab ;) This forum is often standing-room-only, so arrive a few minutes early if you prefer to sit. [Elecraft] Pacificon
Dear Colonists, Jan, Alan and I will be attending Pacificon in a couple of weeks. We will also be visiting San Francisco either side of the event. Neither Alan or I have been to the SF Area before. I was wondering if anyone could recommend sites to see of interest to radio hams and a decent electronics/radio emporium where we might buy junque and interesting stuff to bring back to England! Also somewhere where I might get a pink Ipod for my niece. Is there a place where Elecrafters hang out ( i think that means meet in American) at Pacificon? I don't smoke and don't drink so I am looking for at least a non-smoker to share. Anyone out there want to share costs?
