The fix will be in v2.6.1-3-gd728606 from the buildbot, and in 2.6.2
when that comes out.

For smaller machines where the xylotex board is being used at or near its
capacity with the resultant short lifetime I experienced, it could be just
what the Doctor prescribed.

Now, if I could just find the makings for a 45 volt, 10 amp supply for my
mill, I'd be a happy camper in that dept. I have 4, 2M542's in that box,
but only 28 volts and it stalls if I try to push it beyond 15 ipm rapids.

sigh, i didn't notice the debian wheezy install did not put
users in the users group but apparently does put users
in the plugdev group

so the 90-xhc.rules works on debian wheezy if changed
to use  group==plugdev

I have no idea what sets the sticky bit

Two things that may or may not be interesting on my wheezy install:

Other rules on this system have MODE="0666", not 666. I notice:

% dc -e 8o666p
1232

might account for the T. (If this is the problem, it's very
stupid).

I (the install user) am not a member of "users" - so perhaps
"plugdev" might be a better choice?

Sweet Sam. Install cd in the works?

I'm still trying to get my 5i25 up and running on my lathe, and I assume,
because it also uses PID's in front of the stepgens, that they are also
running in velocity mode?

The reason its not up by now is my encoder board took a dump. I carved a
new one and populated it yesterday but only 1 of the 3 opto's seems to
have survived, so I have to order more. And firefox is having cows with
javascript, keeping me from submitting the order. I'll have to call them.

I also have some board with much heavier copper coming, this board has too
thin traces to be remotely close to robust. Latest .brd in .png formet
and a couple .jpg's scans of freshly carved board attached to demonstrate.

I am using axis, too lazy to switch, and I don't generally fix whats not
broken.

But I am seeing something similar, not in the backplot, but in the axis
code display window at the bottom. Anytime a tool change is approaching,
the code disappears, and the tool table appears. Always with the same tool
highlighted regardless of the upcoming tool number being requested. And,
IIRC, the tool table display remains until the following o call,
which dynamically sets the TLO, has been completed.

But, I am not at all sure it is the LCNC tool table being displayed, I
believe its the expected tool table from headers of the pcb2gcode
generated files! Which is nice since the insert tool requester does NOT
spec the size of the drill its looking for, but the text window does show
the pcb2gcode expected tool diameter in the M6T2 line. No clue how that
is done but it does appear to work correctly.

Where people like me, without a tool changer, or as Stuart once said, a 2
armed tool changer, can lose track, having the popup display the diameter
of the tool being requested in the popups larger font would be quite a
usable bit of help for aging eyes. A 2.6.x hint perhaps? But I actually
think the instant behavior is useful.

In the long run, one more column in the tool table, that contained a code
number that describes the tool, where 0=drill, 1=flat faced mill, 2=round
nosed mill, etc, etc, would seem to be useful. 0-9 for milling tools,
10-29 for lathe tools. Wish list... ;-)

This is exemplary debugging info, thanks Dewey.

Please send the output of "lsusb" (with the pendant plugged in), to see
if the product and vendor ids are as expected.

Also send the output of, um, "udevadm monitor" with all the right flags
that i dont know, while plugging in the pendant, to see why the rule
isn't getting run right.

Re: [Emc-developers] xhc-04 pendant with 2.6.1 and wheezy boot iso

2014-08-06 Thread Dewey Garrett

I tested on wheezy using a buildbot deb linuxcnc_2.6.1.1.gf0c9384_i386.deb
(instead of the iso) and see:

  $ lsb_release -rc
  Release:  7.6
  Codename: wheezy

  $ uname -a
  Linux debian-shop2 3.4-9-rtai-686-pae #1 SMP PREEMPT Debian 3.4.55-3linuxcnc
i686 GNU/Linux

  $ cat /etc/udev/rules.d/90-xhc.rules
  # xhc-hb04 mpg pendant
  ATTR{idProduct}=="eb70", ATTR{idVendor}=="10ce", MODE="666", OWNER="root",
GROUP="users"

as expected.
-

The error i see starting xhc-hb04 is:

[ 1.002037] [1227] libusbx: error [op_open] libusbx couldn't open USB
device /dev/bus/usb/007/002: Permission denied.
[ 1.002080] [1227] libusbx: error [op_open] libusbx requires write access
to USB device nodes.
-

looking at the permissions i see:
  $ ls -l /dev/bus/usb/007/002
  crw-rw-r-T 1 root users 189, 769 Aug  6 07:46 /dev/bus/usb/007/002
-
so MODE="666" was not honored

if i change with
  $ sudo chmod 777 /dev/bus/usb/007/002, perms are ok
-
maybe this will help a debian packaging expert

[Emc-developers] xhc-04 pendant with 2.6.1 and wheezy boot iso

2014-08-06 Thread David Armstrong
guy's

this is using the new cd out the box and no changes
logging in as user and selecting linuxcnc , and sim xhc pendants give
access permissions
error . i presume the usb is not part of the users group

running root terminal and then selecting as before xhc pendant works

i would have thought as a user if linuxcnc works then the usb should or
would be active
at this stage

i may add this is not me using run in place , this is as the hybrid iso is
presented to a new install

are we missing a required permission

Re: [Emc-developers] Tool Table and Wear offset Table

2014-08-06 Thread Rick Lair
We are on the right track, I just need to get everything ironed out on my
end in regards to using gmoccapy.

We do not though, expect to see the subroutine in the loaded gcode window.

Thanks

I have heard other reports that Gmoccapy does that. I don't think that
Axis does, which is why I didn't spot it.

I don't know if you would ever expect to see the G-code of a
subroutine call or remap, so I am not sure where the fix belongs.

Re: [Emc-developers] Tool Table and Wear offset Table

2014-08-06 Thread Rick Lair
Good Morning Guys,

Dewey,

I see this patch, I am working on testing it now, thanks

Andy,

The guys tried running a program last night, and as soon as it gets to the
tool call in the program, the gcode for the program disappears and the
subroutine pops up in the window, and the gremlin backplot jumps from the
picture of the part and goes back to the 0,0 point of the display,

We are using gmoccapy if that makes a difference?

Any thoughts,

Thanks

Yes, this is the problem I pointed out.
You need to G43 the tool offset data, then G43.2 the wear modifier.
Your changes removed the G43 # and only left a G43 #

(actually, it doesn't matter what order you do them in, but G43
# and G43.2 # feels more logical.)
