CKC Labs has been active in HIRF work since the 1980s. Don't know their
precise capabilities but here is the url:

I am looking for a HIRF test facility that can handle 3000 V/m from 2 to 12
GHz. I have to test from 10 kHz to 40 GHz but at lower levels. I have a fairly
large system for testing so I am leaning towards a reverb chamber to get
around small antenna beam width issues.

Any leads for a test house, or advice on doing this testing is appreciated.

For some time, we have been trying to locate a facility on the North

for an IP5X or IP6X rating on a product measuring approx. 72 inches (1.8

high by 28 inches (0.7 m) deep by 36 inches (0.9 m) wide, in accordance
with
IEC 60529.

Background: IP codes are not used in the USA or Canada. NEMA ratings
for
enclosures, such as 3R, 3S, 4, and the like are called out by the
electical

naturally be low in North America.

There is a TUV America facility near Minneapolis- St. Paul (New
Brighton, Minnesota) that has a lot of HIRF capability. They use a Parabolic
Dish to focus the beam. But as you stated the small antenna beam width issue
will be a problem if you have a big piece of equipment. They are worth
talking to though because in terms of commercial labs they have one of the
best HIRF capabilities. They state that they go up to 7000 V/m .Here is a

The non-portable ESD Tester made by Watahanie or Noiseken goes up to 30 KV.
It has an easy menu to use and you should be shocking yourself inside of
thirty seconds ;). It doesnt switch polarities automatically like the
Schaffners (model 435?) For the money at the time it was comparable to
Schaffner and I think it had probe sets you could choose with different pf
values. Its a rugged plastic gun at the end of a long cable thats connected
to a handled metal box so its sort of portable. 30 KV was kind of hard to
find a couple years ago but thats what I found and bought.

Re: HPIB

2004-11-12 Thread owner-emc-p...@listserv.ieee.org
If I remember correctly the commands in HP Basic for Local or Remote
mode are LOCAL and REMOTE.

Also there are some slight variations between the 856x analyzers and the
859x analyzers. Your best bet is to look for the programming commands
>from Agilents web site. They can be difficult to find, but I have
always found them for free. I will look around here, I may still have
them in pdf format.

Re: experience with immunity testers

2004-11-12 Thread owner-emc-p...@listserv.ieee.org
Here at Valeo we have the EM-Test P-30C. This in our opinion is a great
ESD Gun and thus far we have had no problems. Easy to use, lightweight,
many options on various networks etc.

We also own the Transient Immunity Generators from EM Test. We have tried
several other brands and the EM Test are hands down the best units in terms
of value, service, and capabilities. With the main set of generators (EFT,
MPG, VDS, and LD) along with their software you can perform 90% of the
transients required by automotive manufacturers out there.

I know I sound like a salesman but I am not. I have all this equipment and
it really performs well. I also have a very good relationship with
Amplifier Research (flagship company of EM TEST) and they have always been
helpful with any questions or needs I have had.

I am on the edge of selecting a new generation
Immunity test equipment up to 6 kV
Surge, EFT, Telecom pulse and Ringwave,
and ESD testing up to 30 kV

Does any of you have any experience to share about
Combitesters of:

Schaffner ?
EM-test ?
EMC-partner ?

Good and bad, all are welcome.
