communications zones used to ensure a level of signal quality for the users?
Thank you,Stephen Whalen

 Hi Stephen,

I would like to add more insights of Brian’s good advice.

UN packaging – As lithium-ion battery is considered as dangerous goods, you
have to meet this requirements for air shipment, otherwise, flight forwarder
will not accept your goods.  Even sea shipment, you have to comply with IMDG
Code.

EN 62133 is mandatory requirement to most end product applicable standards.
Clause 8.3.9 must be applied.  As China is large market share of supply,
applying GB 31241 2014 is better.

You have to clarify if the battery charger is built-in your end product or not
for correct classification of EPS.  Battery charger is critical component to
protect the battery cell from overheating, bursting into flame or explosion.

In addition, cell factory quality control is important as well.  Consider IEEE
1725 or something similar.

Scott

Re: [PSES] Antenna gain measurement standard

2016-07-04 Thread Stephen Whalen
Brent,Many thanks on your feedback!Good to know that not many filings include
spherical data but a little surprised since the technology has been around for
some time.  The antenna in question is in 800MHz band, external monopole for a
wall mount consumer device. The device will also include internal dual band (2.4
+ 5GHz) WiFi antenna.I see IEEE 149-1977 standard test procedures for antennas
which was reaffirmed in 2008.  Do you know if this includes gain measurement
procedures that would be applicable to 800MHz band and WiFi?

{}#yiv7121602957 I forgot to say that, depending on the frequency (higher is
worse) it’s almost impossible to know what the maximum antenna gain you will
find in a full spherical is versus three orthogonal cuts.  In my products I’ve
seen 7dB difference at 5 GHz of an antenna in a product.  It’s also worth
noting that there are _very_ few submittals I’ve seen that include spherical

{}#yiv3080917348 Stephen:  There are a number of ways to measure gain, with the
basic one being a comparison to a theoretical isotropic radiator (yielding a
gain number in dBi). However, the antennas used for EMI and compliance testing
are usually used in the near field, where the standard you are testing to
defines the acceptable measurement distance and styles of antennas. Thus, there
is often a preferred gain measurement technique defined by the standard you are
working to.  In regard to what you told us, what is 2D & 3D (dimension) gain?
And what is peak gain? What standard is defining these terms?  Ed Price
