I have had no trouble, other than early in the conversion, I had a spindle encoder noise problem (solved with VFD filter) and finding the proper acceleration tuning to deal with lead-in oscillations. I don't recall having a runaway, other than when I had the buggy homing software version. I wonder if there is a way to have the software predict what a reasonable move would be and compare this with what the sensors indicate. In other words, for a particular command, it might be unreasonable to move above a certain rate and distance to complete the block. Or, maybe it could be user assigned: G?? (safe zone) X1 xxx Y1 xxx Z1 xxx X2 xxx Y2 xxx Z2 xxx J (any max. distance from block start) xxx ... G?? (safe zone end). - Kirk http://www.wallacecompany.com/machine_shop/ -- Apps built with the Adobe(R) Flex(R) framework and Flex Builder(TM) are powering Web 2.0 with engaging, cross-platform capabilities. Not allot has changed on the website for a while. It looks like rain for the next couple of days, maybe I can get some website work done. I just got some XY ballscrews for the Bridgeport, but they turned out to be bigger than expected. They are ground screws as opposed to the rolled screws I have planned for installation. I need to look at whether these have less backlash and if I can get them to fit, otherwise they may go back on eBay. I have to make some progress on the Shizuoka toolchanger, but in getting a design going for the tool position encoder, CAM (.dxf) and g-code issues came up. It looks like I am in a question cascade right now. I try to visit some other websites to check for updates like Chris', Anders' and others. I wonder if a list of top ten most active/updated EMC2 sites would be handy on the web and wiki home pages? - Kirk -- Apps built with the Adobe(R) Flex(R) framework and Flex Builder(TM) are powering Web 2.0 with engaging, cross-platform capabilities. [Emc-users] EMC2
I have a question about the machine not moving as when the app first fires up. I am currently using the EMC2 which comes already installed on Ubuntu 6.06.. Here is what happens.. When I first start the program and try to move the machine using the arrow keys, it will not move.. I tried setting the feed rate like F300 but it still does not move.. I have found out that if I start a file, let it run a few lines then the machine can be moved by the arrow keys for the rest of the day.. I have tried setting the speed etc and to no avail.. How can I get around this? Robert I. You still have two options besides the obvious one: install virtual Linux in Windows and have it take over the serial port, or bootup from knoppix or other live CD and try minicom that way. I'm assuming here that live CDs come with minicom. > Kirk > http://www.wallacecompany.com/machine_shop/ > -- Rafael -- Apps built with the Adobe(R) Flex(R) framework and Flex Builder(TM) are powering Web 2.0 with engaging, cross-platform capabilities.
