I saw that there was some discussion about this at last week's engagement
team meeting.

It would be easy enough to populate the existing Google calendar. The main
question I still have is who would use that information and how? It's not a
lot of work, but it would be good to have a better idea of what the goals
are.

Usually only GNOME Foundation members
 get an Owncloud account. I
think there may have been special instances where people have received
access in order to complete a specific task, but you'd have to talk to the
memberships / sysadmin team for that.

Are you able to make it to tomorrow's Engagement meeting at 16:00 UTC? If
so, we can talk more about it then and you can learn more about what we've
already tried.

Best,
Nuritzi

Can you guys get me a login on the ownCloud instance, and I can
try and plug this stuff into the calendar? Then we can somehow
display that info on a public calendar.

I think my first choice would be to see if we can make
this work with our ownCloud instance, since that already
has GNOME accounts integrated and we have groups for our
  existing teams.

Are there any open source calendar applications that we can spin

Nope. We have an Engagement Team google calendar, but
we don't really use it. That may be one of the first
things you guys want to help us set up ;)

There's a LOT we have wanted to do and it'll be great

Welcome :)  You are welcome to
  join our community meetings on
  Fridays at 17:00 UTC if
  convenient, that will be your
  opportunity to introduce yourself
and of course an opportunity to
  also introduce ourselves.

Not today though, Nuritzi sent an
email to postpone to next week. Also the
time has been switched to 16UTC (because
of DST).

Hi Ryan!

Welcome! It's great to have you on board. It would be really good to
hear what your interests are and how you'd like to participate. Would
one of our meetings be a good time to have that conversation, do you
think?

I'm aware of the GNOME calendar [1], which does seem to include
Engagement Team meetings, but it is a generic calendar which includes
an assortment of GNOME events. Ryan: is this useful to you? Would you
prefer a calendar for specific types of events?
