A fix has been published.

Before you attempt the migration, please ensure you're using Enigmail
version 2.2.2 in Thunderbird 78.

If you had previously attempted to migrate and ran into a failure, then
you can manually try again. With Enigmail 2.2.2 installed, the global
menubar, Tools menu, contains a command "Migrate Enigmail Settings".

Select that, a tab opens, which contains a button "Start Migration Now".

Patrick, thanks a lot for releasing the update so quickly.

Regards
Kai

Patrick, it would be great if you could help us by releasing an updated
Enigmail 2.2.x to fix this issue, I've sent you private mail with the
fix that works for me.

Re: [Enigmail] Error

2020-08-30 Thread Olav Seyfarth

Hi Sarah,
there certainly is no "trick". GnuPG
(via Enigmail) informs you that it's not able to locate the
private key necessary to decrypt your draft. Once you saved it,
there must have been another key, probably a key that you
replaced by a new one. If you still have a backup copy of your
old key(s) (public AND private key parts that is), then you may
easily import them using GnuPG in the commandline, or Enigmail's
Key Manager.

[Enigmail] Error

2020-08-30 Thread SK.
Hello,

i cannot open my mail drafts from 2017 and older. Is there any trick to
open it?

This error shows up:

"Enigmail-Sicherheitsinfo:

Fehler - kein passender privater/geheimer Schlüssel zur Entschlüsselung
gefunden"

translation: safety info: error - no private/secure key for decoding was
found

I have installed enigmail as "Thunderbird" had guided me plus the Add
ON: GnuPg

Also i've made sure to use the latest updates of thunderbird and enigmail:

*Enigmail Version 2.1.7 (20200627-0916)*

Thanks for your help in advance. I would be happy not to loose all my drafts.

Cheers,
Sarah

JFYI:

p≡p for Thunderbird, in turn, will become available by tomorrow, August
31st, and work--as Patrick already said--with TB68 and TB78.

See also Twitter thread on that:

https://twitter.com/pEpFoundation/status/1300021082481741824

It'll not use GnuPG anymore or RNP as OpenPGP backend as shipped by
Mozilla Thunderbird, but Sequoia PGP, our own implementation; written in
Rust: https://sequoia-pgp.org/

An audit of the p≡p engine core and also Sequoia is being conducted.
