It still doesn't work.

With 1.9.6 I'm getting the errors again:

gpg: WARNING: The GNOME keyring manager hijacked the GnuPG agent.
gpg: WARNING: GnuPG will not work properly - please configure that tool
to not interfere with the GnuPG system!

We've been thruough this two months ago, you and DKG came up with this:

You're asking the wrong mailing list - Enigmail does not create packages
for any Linux distribution. You'd have to ask the Debian maintainers.

However, if you have Thunderbird 38 or newer on Jessie, you can
uninstall the Enigmail package provided by Debian and install the
official release from the Enigmail web site.

That's what I did.

I even tried commentsab...@riseup.net's solution from this morning - no
success.

Since July I've been fiddling with this. So I must assume that it has
got something to do with my system which is Linux Mint Debian Edition
2.0 (it's a Jessie-based distro) and TB 45.4.0.

I give up on this and will continue to TOX and XMPP/OTR my private stuff.

Two months have passed meanwhile, so I'd like to bring this up again.

Now that 1.9.6 is GAed, can we expect a backport for Jessie?

I'd be grateful if Enigmail could be kept somewhat up-to-date in the repos.

A lil' off topic: After having found that list of add-on's

I must admit I'm kind of relieved I'm using Pale Moon and my add-on's on

I finally gave up on this last night.

1.) There is no $HOME/.gnupg/gpg-agent.conf, instead I found
$HOME/.gnupg/gpg.conf
2.) There is no usr/bin/pinentry-gtk2, instead there is
usr/bin/pinentry-gtk-2

Then I've found two symlinks from/to pinentry:

1.) from /usr/bin/pinentry to /etc/alternatives/pinentry
2.) from /etc/alternatives/pinentry to /usr/bin/pinentry-gtk-2

This may or may not be specific to Linux Mint Debian Edition - I've had
enough of this and didn't want to end up in an endless handicraft work.
So I went back to Enigmail 1.8.2 from the official repo.

Thanks anyway.

You'll have to be careful to make sure that gpg2 won't issue by default
the "session hijacked" error. Otherwise, you'll have thousands of users
who'll need help. Apart from this, I see no issue doing so.

hm, maybe we should try to upgrade enigmail in jessie to 1.9.5 to track
thunderbird's changes. I can provide a backport easily, and we could
talk to the release team about an update within the next point-release.

Patrick, Willi, any thoughts about this course of action?

The message says it all. GNOME keyring hijacked the GnuPG agent - the
only long-term resolution is that you follow our FAQ to fix this
permanently.

I'm using TB 45.3 from the Debian repo.

Well, the upgrade to Enigmail 1.9.5 installed properly, but now I'm
getting again

gpg: WARNING: The GNOME keyring manager hijacked the GnuPG agent.
gpg: WARNING: GnuPG will not work properly - please configure that tool
to not interfere with the GnuPG system!

So Enigmail 1.8.2 does work, 1.9.5 doesn't...

If you want to take a look at it, I uploaded the log to
http://gpg.dark-vatta.net/em160912.txt

Thanks in advance.
