After having gone over our use of mkstemp and it's broken usage, it
make sense to have a portable safe way to create a temporary file.

Interesting idea, I like this XDG_RUNTIME_DIR.

Re: [E-devel] my e is broken :(

2012-12-10 Thread Thanatermesis
I just switched to releases (instead of svn, for libs and e17), and i have
got problems with the composite on my laptop, let's say after 10 startups
of e17 it freezed 2 times (no segfault, and the mouse still having e17
effects).

Then I tried ctrl + alt + shift + home and noticed that e17 worked good,
but is the composite which not...

btw, why this combo doesn't do a simple "restart" of composite instead of
unloading it ?

Maybe the composite has some dependency remaining in the start ? This is my
graphic card: http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Intel_HD_Graphics

00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation Core
   Processor Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:0046] (rev 02) (prog-if 00
   [VGA controller])
   Subsystem: Lenovo Device [17aa:215a]
   Control: I/O+ Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop-
   ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- DisINTx+
   Status: Cap+ 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B+ ParErr- DEVSEL=fast >TAbort-
   SERR- [disabled]
   Capabilities:
   Kernel driver in use: i915

So the problem is with my card or with e17 ? I wonder how to deal with this
problem (for the users what the stable release, I mean)

2012-12-10 Thread Tom Hacohen
Hey Daniel,

I found this in python.c in the gdb source tree:

/* Implementation of gdb.solib_name (Long) -> String.
Returns the name of the shared library holding a given address, or None. */

static PyObject *
gdbpy_solib_name (PyObject *self, PyObject *args)

So just use gdb.solib_name...

I just skimmed through the file, maybe there's more there I've missed,
sounds like exactly what you are looking for.

[E-devel] freezes and crashes

2012-12-10 Thread Massimo Maiurana
yesterday I rebuilt all efl+e17 using released tarballs (efl 1.7.3 and e17
beta), just to see if my problems are related to current svn... well, looks
like they're not :(

here is what happens:
- on first attempt to run e, right after machine boot, e always freezes
showing the splash screen with fancy squares. I have to kill it from a console
- after killing it, at restart it does segfault displaying the WSOD (backtrace
attached). I hit F1 and can finally have it running, but without initial apps
- I tried to run it through valgrind but in this case it doesn't freeze nor it
segfault. it is as it would be a question of timing, i.e. not happening with
slow startup. I guess valgrind log can't be helpy in this case, but I can send
it here if you want
- I tried unloading the extra modules I use (comp-scale, alarm, cpu, net) and
it still freezes on first run, but this time it doesn't segfault on second
attempt

Re: [E-devel] E SVN: raster trunk/e/src/modules/shot

2012-12-10 Thread Gustavo Sverzut Barbieri
Raster,

Wouldn't be nice to expose this in eina as this is a common problem?
We use mktemps() when possible, or use some other technique like ou
did if not?

Also would be nice to use $XDG_RUNTIME_DIR if possible. This envvar is
set with an user-scope, then it's safe by nature to store stuff in
there. Currently just systemd implements, but it should be trivial to
add this to other systems.
http://standards.freedesktop.org/basedir-spec/basedir-spec-latest.html
What systemd does is just mkdir /run/user/$UID as 0700 in a tmpfs,
then export XDG_RUNTIME_DIR=/run/user/$UID. People could easily do an
work around for /home/$USER/.tmp or use systemd's approach.

[E-devel] Memory Leak in Eet + OpenSSL

2012-12-10 Thread Leandro Santiago
Hello to all. As the e server is down, I'm sending this report to this
mailing list.

I think there's a memory leak in eet when openssl is used as cipher engine.

I wrote a small test case, which is attached, as well the output of the
executable in valgrind (--tool=memcheck and --leak-check=full).

I'm using eet 1.7.1 and openssl 1.0.1c.

Before it autodetected all deps. We agreed this wouldn't happen with EFL
single tree anymore. We have just some minor options for not-so-common
extensions such as xinput2. But even with options it will not autodetect,
you must enable or disable if your system is different from default.

Given that this is a buildbot we must have one machine with all
deps/options enabled, one without all and one with the defaults.

It seems buildbot got hit by this.
checking for X11/extensions/Xinerama.h... no
configure: error: Missing X11/extensions/Xinerama.h
make: ***
[/srv/buildbot/slaves/efl/quick-linux/build/build/efl/stamps/configure]
Error 1

I installed libxinerama and libxscrnsaver on e3 now but it feels kinda
like a regression as it did work fine without them before.

Hi Tom,

1. I will check it, maybe just print line and which file
2. I don't find how to get the library name. Sure it will be easier with
the library.
3. I understand the point but for the moment I don't have a solution. I
will investigate when time is with me (not so english, this sentence).

If you find something on your side, tell me.
