I actually find this slightly concerning. What about removable media? I
actually thought that NOT requiring users to edit fstab for every. single.
disk. they plug in was a Good Thing(tm). I do agree that HAL's inability to
cooperate with fstab is a problem, but I don't think that abandoning
hotpluggable removable media is a valid solution either.

FYI, several of the images referenced in elm-efenniht.edc are not present in

[E-devel] E17 Hangs In xrandr Under FreeNX

2010-08-20 Thread William Keaney
I pulled and built an update yesterday, and since then E will not start in
my nxClient session. It starts without issue on a local console.
I am currently at rev 51467.
I ran E under GDB, and hit CTRL-C after it hung to get a backtrace, which I
am attaching.

I don't think that the display presented by FreeNX is xrandr-capable, but I
could be wrong on that.

Thanks for all your terrific work!

Edje files can be written to use mouse events; considering that the
animated icons are actually edjes, it shouldn't be difficult to write
this in without changing E17 itself. I believe that you would use
mouse_in and mouse_out, but I'd have to play with it a bit to be
certain.

I like this. Perhaps a pane in the theme selection dialog to assign themes
to etk, ewl and edje apps (as groups) and a place to create a list of
applicatoins with specific theme assignments? And for those who want to
select one theme and be done with it, there could be a radio button or
checkbox for 'Apply Theme Globally' or something similar, which would
disable the per-app/per-toolkit selections.

This seems to break everything that uses Edje on my system, most notably the
b_and_w theme and Entrance. I've run a manual bisect on the repo, and this is
the first revision where these things start misbehaving. Several things don't
get rendered, including titlebars, buttons, and text boxes. Windows that get
shaded become slivers and cannot be unshaded.

The --help output of autogen.sh says that edje-calc-cache is disabled by
default, but when run without any arguments it enables edje-calc-cache.
I am seeing the problem in both E17 itself (screenshot at
http://omploader.org/vMjU3aQ) and in Entrance, both of which use Edje.
I did try the latest SVN with --disable-edje-calc, and that restored
functionality.

I didn't manually disable it until after I had arrived at that revision, so I
believe so.

I've attached a tarball of my ~/.e/. I'm pretty sure the list will strip it,
so I'm including you on the CC.
My LANG is set to en_US.UTF-8.

Talking to some people on IRC, it looks like /etc/default/locale only serves
to set your (surprise) locale, à la "LANG=en_US.UTF-8". Since we handle
that differently in Gentoo, I don't think it will hurt to leave that line in
entrance's PAM config alone, or omit it altogether.
