No more votes came in after this mail and I closed the poll with 25 
votes today.

Results are as follows:
16 votes Malta
16 votes Toulouse
15 votes Paris
14 votes Edinburgh
12 votes USA
10 votes London
09 votes Tel Aviv
09 votes Seoul

Based on this we will talk with Jonathan (Malta) and Nicolas (Toulouse)

Last year it was in may, the years before in October. We have not 
settled for a date yet, having a location is the first step.

Hi All, 

Just wanting to give you a bit more about what there is to do here in
Malta. 

Malta has lots of history dating back to neolithic times. There are
quite a few neolithic temples as well as fortifications that were built
to fight off the turks back in 1565. There is also alot of beaches as
well as catacombs and much more. 

If you guys have an idea when this is going to take place, I can provide
a better idea of events that will be going on during that time.

I would not take that to easy. Getting event space for a low price is 
often not as easy as people think without having good connections to 
companies which might be willing to sponsor a meeting room (like 
OpenWide did last year). For example in Dublin we finally had to book a 
hotel conference room something like 7 days before the event because 
nothing else panned out.

Anyway, I updated your proposal a bit and I will put it in the upcoming 
vote.

From a selfish perspective the only events i'm likely to come to are
Seoul and Australia, based on the fact that Seoul probably won't cost me
much more I'd vote for that. The only chance of me making one in Europe
is if its the time of year when i'm already there and I don't know when
that will be. But I am just one person.

I'm actually starting setting up a C and C++ event in 2017 in
Florianopolis*,  so I'm looking for places to hold an event, maybe EDD
Florianopolis in 2018?

As you know, I'm going travelling a bit starting from early in the 
morning tomorrow, so I won't have any time to check.

I think this should probably be a two step process.

1. Choose where we want to go.
2. Verifying it can be done before we fully commit.

By the time it's decided I'll already be back and will be able to 
confirm the hackspace and any other "organisation" that may be required.

Pretty sure London will just raise the prices even more when the pound 
keeps falling and falling.

If you (or someone else) are standing up as local organiser and the 
meeting location at the hackerspace can get confirmed I see this as an 
valid option. If these two are sorted out it should get added to the 
wiki page.

I don't think I proposed Israel, but anyhow, local organiser would be 
JackDanielZ, and surely we could find a place if needed...

My take: australia, us and korea are probably very unlikely.

[E-devel] EDD 2017 location discussion

Hello.

Thinking ahead about EDD 2017 it would be good if we could settle for a 
location towards the end of the year.

After this years EDD I already asked for location proposals which have 
been collected here:

I will put out a phab vote for it over the next weeks but wanted to 
bring it up here for discussion to sort out valid and likely proposals 
from the rest.

Here we go with the list and my comments on it:

Australia (proposed by David Seikel)
* Local organiser: None
* Meeting space offering: None

+ Nice country to visit
- To high travel costs for almost all attendees
- Unlikely to attract many community people without company baking
- No local organiser or meeting space proposed

* Meeting space offering: None

+ Within Europe
+ Travel costs for people from Europe might/should be ok (tourist flights)
