[e-users] wrong window position on pager

2010-01-24 Thread Paulo Diovani
Hi.
I'm having a little issue with E17, since i have updated to the latest
snapshot (from svn, revision 44144).
When i place a pager on top of screen, the windows are shown left and
higher than they should.

This is a screenshot, showing the problem:
http://img199.imageshack.us/i/20100114150204352525480.jpg/

And this is the same screen with the pager located on bottom-right,
that makes it shows ok:
http://img199.imageshack.us/i/20100114150213877509560.jpg/

Have someone saw this issue already? If so, is it fixed in some recent revision?

[e-users] E17 menus segfaulting

2010-03-04 Thread Paulo Diovani
Hi friends...

I have Just compiled E17 version 0.16.999.063 from svn, at revision 46864...

Everything is working fine, except the favorites menu. Sometimes it renders
ok, but in most cases the menu is shown, Enlightenment segfaults, and
sometimes it freezes, needing an X restart.

Do someone knows how to solve this?

Thanks.

[e-users] RES: 2 Dumb questions about E17 themes...

2010-03-30 Thread Paulo Diovani
Also, if some theme is completelly crashed, not allowing you to manage the
settings, you Just need to remove the buggy theme (by command line, or any file
manager) ans restart E (Ctrl + Shift + End).
It'll fall back to default theme again.

I've been using E17 for a long time and I only remember a couple of
occasions in the early days where there were minor issues that were
theme related. It's easy to switch back via Settings - Theme - System
- default and hit the Apply button. Assuming your distribution has not
disabled it there is an Online button to get themes over the wire.

Just now I have noticed that esmart was moved to OLD.
But what about elicit? It is still on trunk, but not updated to not use

Is that right?

I recall updating it to be last version from GIT, that is not using
esmart anymore.

[e-users] RES: Some constructive criticism

2010-04-16 Thread Paulo Diovani
When i choose e17 as my WM, that was due to three reasons:
1. It's fast and clean.
2. It's beauty.
3. It's mainly, Just a WM.

I have used Gnome, KDE and even XFCE for some time. But today i think i Just
don't need all that deasktop integration, it easies some things, but by a
great cost, mainly of memory, and i really hope that E17 could be always a
simples and fast WM and let all the other stuff (modules and apps)
optionals. Otherwise, my second choice would be, surely, FVWM.

About the most used Apps:
> 1) There is not a login manager
For now i still use gdm. Even if it loads a lot of gnome, i think it's the
fastes full featured login manager.
Maybe i'll try slin, as suggested by Mysth-R, soon.

> 2) There is not a file manager
Yes, there is, as told before. But i'm more confortable with Nautilus. I
don't care about the cost of loading gnome libs, Just need enough memory for
that, I use E on my notebook, not my resource-limitated smartphone.

> 3) There is not a terminal emulator
Eterm can be mentioned as E's terminal emulator, and it is a great terminal
emulator. It's only problem is the lack of utf-8 support, reason for qhat i
changed to urxvt, that's very lite, clean, and don't have tabs (i don't like
tabs on terminals).

> 4) There is not a music player
Some time ago there was a beautifull efl music player simple as xmms, but i
can't remember it's name. To manage a music library and playlists we can use
mpd and the E front-ends. But i think there Will never be another media
player as good as Amarok (neither iTunes i think can bit it).

Usually i choose na app for each needs, and i don't care about the libs it
loads. I just prefer to stay away of kde libs (except for Amarok) and Mono.
My current desktop includes E17, Nautilus, uRXVT, mpd+Sonata, Amarok, Pidgin
and Firefox, and i let all management tasks (network and configurations) be
done on terminal.

Sorry by my poor english. :(

On the flip side, I keep getting the same beta-like impression of
gnome's awkward handling of multi-screens and multi-workspaces. E has
always handled it much more nicely in my opinion.

The reality is that any desktop in linux is going to be more or less
complete here or there. I long ago stopped worrying about everything
being gnome or everything being efl or everything being kde. People
will program in whatever they're most comfortable with...and the fact
that I can use whatever they want regardless of what desktop I'm
in...I think thats great. I also think that the freedom to create in
more than just the *one* way (aka ms/apple) is great and am perfectly
ok with that situation.

So, on my high end pc's, I typically run e17 because its light,
responsive and its quiet! Nothing gets in your way. And because its an
aussie who's making the magic! For my particular apps I'll use
whatever I like the most, whether that's gnome-terminal or amarok, it
doesn't really phase me.

On my lower end pc's, I'm equally happy making do with a lower set of
environmental constraints.

End result, I'm happy with my computer(s). I spend so much time in
front of them, and with much bigger problems floating around, I'd be a
hell of a grumpy bear if I wasn't.

[e-users] RES: [e17] Application focus (especially the flashplayer)

2010-04-26 Thread Paulo Diovani
I have the same problem, sometimes, but only on maximized Windows (i've just
noticed that on Firefox).
It occurs when changing desktop to the one where the maximized window is,
the window gets no focus and i need to hit Alt+Tab to type on it (but mouse
interaction still works).

Assunto: [e-users] [e17] Application focus (especially the flashplayer)

Hello,

Since I use e17, I frequently have problems with the focus of applications,
and particularly the flashplayer. When I go on youtube (with
firefox/opera/uzbl), there are 50% of chances that the flash video player
doesn't get the focus when I click on it... I use a turnaround using the TAB
to navigate through the buttons in the flash animation, but that's not very
user-friendly :-)
One other problem I encounter (regularly, but not so often) is that when an
application has the focus (border are highlighted) and I want to type some
text into it, nothing happens. I must focus another application and then
come back into it to be able to type. You guess that's not very efficient !

Any of you have that kind of problems ?
Does it comes from e17 ? I asked some friends that are using gentoo/gnome,
gentoo/kde, debian/kde or ubuntu/gnome, they never have that kind of
problems... maybe there is also something to change in my configuration.

Thanks & best regards,
Cedric

Re: [e-users] easy_e17.sh error

2011-01-04 Thread Paulo Diovani
"--accept" is na options of the "svn update" command. Probally the use in the
script is "svn up --accept theirs-full [PATH]".

Take a look on easy_e17.sh for the lines where there is the "--accept" string.
If it seens wrong, like being the option before the command ("svn --accept
[OPTION] up [PATH]") or on other commands ("svn co --accept [...]"), Just
fix/remove it.
