City Hall filed a complaint with city RCMP Wednesday, Sept. 9, after an
official says the city’s electric vehicle (EV) charging stations were
knocked out in a spree of vandalism over the Labour Day weekend. City staff
discovered the damage to the municipal EV stations at City Hall and Gyro
Park on the mornings of Friday, Sept. 4 and Tuesday, Sept. 8, according to
Grand Forks’ utilities manager. Each station is worth around $5,000 and will
cost yet more money for the city to re-install. The utilities manager
couldn’t say when either of the EV stations will come back online ... City
staff also found extensive vandalism to a plug-in wall socket at the Grand
Forks and District public library and to a nearby street lamp standard. In
both cases, the utilities manager said someone had ripped out electrical
wiring. “It was just pure vandalism,” they said, adding that no wire or
metal appeared to have been salvaged.

Don't bother w/ the video. He talks 4x more than needed

I did like the bit of real time testing of CHAdeMO and
ccs DC EVSE where the gal showed, small people do
have to muscle those heavy cables into the EV's port
(funny how you never see that in GM,FMC, HMC, etc
EV ads).

interest in doing a sincere job of it).

that makes all the decides for you, and uses the same settings
from the booted dvd. a swap partition of 2Gb and the bootable
partition of 20Gb should be all you need.

When was learning about tablets years ago, I bought a $50
android 4 limited to 4Gb and it only had wifi (no wireless 2,3,4g).
I learned wth a wifi connection could browse and keep my apps
up to date. I retired that tablet and went with an android 5
smartphone with a 4g network. It served my internet needs for
several years.
Since then, the ever increasing bandwith demands of today's web
pages, placed on wireless data plans started having me bump up
aganst my data limit at the end of the month.
I had to upgrade to a new android 9 smartphone to use the 5g
capable wireless network (but my affordable unlimited plan keeps
me on a 4g connection= plenty fast for my simple needs). Now,
I'm not running out of data, and though the old phone was fast
enough for me, the new phone has more than 2x the
speed/performance.
I found my old unused motorola moto x1527 phone had no
resale value at the cash4phone vending machine at stores,
yet you can still get one cheap

Though the 4g connection is turned off, it still functions

Perhaps if Lee had one of these with a weeks worth of
video url links stored on it, when he goes out to do his
weekly shopping, he could stop off at a wifi site parking
lot and (legally) mooch some free internet to stream &
watch videos like everyone else?
If that would work for Lee, to ensure Lee stays internet
connected and hip/savy, maybe I should postal mail him
this still usable paperweight?

20200831 ... Despite Mayor Garcetti and Chief Beck's enthusiasm, the program
was not exactly a success. The elephant in the room was the cost, which
included charging stations, amassed to a staggering $10,267,699. Moreover,
most of LA's finest i3s accumulated under 20,000 miles due to the
"administrative" title placed on the cars. Namely, the i3s were not suited
for patrolling. Furthermore, CBS Los Angeles reported some i3s that
accumulated just several hundred miles making the whole proposition look
more ineffective. If LAPD had around a dozen of these vehicles, the story
probably would never have been brought to light, but LAPD had 200, $45,000
electric cars sitting in a parking garage collecting dust. So, where are
these carbon fiber monocoques now? New Century BMW, the dealer that handled
the leases initially, is currently selling them as CPO models ... these are
a bargain. All twenty-three i3s currently up for sale are certified
pre-owned. So expect the remainder of the four year / 50,000-mile warranty,
a one year / unlimited-mile after the basic expires, and an eight-year /
100,000-mile battery warranty (from the date of purchase). A 2017 i3 would
have two more years under the basic warranty, and five under the battery
warranty ... some are priced around $15,000, unbeatable for an under
warranty, lightly-driven electric car. The only issue that one may see is
that some of these i3s were sitting, presumably for prolonged periods. We do
not know the charging intervals in which these vehicles partook, so it's
hard to tell if they have been appropriately cared for. The reassurance for
this is that the cars are covered under the battery warranty ...

I drove a 1985 S-10 Blazer EV conversion for 15 years.
Much has changed since then, with both converting ice to EV & with factory
EVs.
IMO, at the time a factory S-10 e-truck had much of the same EV-tech
as the GM EV1.
Support for a factory S-10 EV will nil,nada,zilch/non-existant
except for the very few other factory S-10 EV owners sharing
information (on other forums).
Same as the EV1 the factory S-10 used a proprietary inductive
(LPI,SPI) charging tech. You will need to also buy one of these to
adapt it to today's public conductive j1772 charging tech. You
won't be able to use either the public DC ccs or CHAdeMO rapid
charging tech.
It would be helpful to evdl members to why a factory S-10 EV
over a newer converted ice S-10 truck (or even a colorado ice
truck).
