[Evolution] multiple email addresses
I'm using Evo v0.99.2 and I really like it. I find new things to like about it almost daily. Excuse me if this issue has already been raised. I didn't find it very easy to search through the archives. When composing new or reply mail, I like to press the "To:" button which then brings up a list of contacts from which to choose. So far, so good. However, many of my contacts have multiple email addresses. (The address book allows up to 3 if memory servers). But the chooser doesn't seem to allow me to choose which email address I wish to use for the contact I wish to select. I don't recall right now which address it selects for me; if it's the first one or maybe it's all of them. At any rate, shouldn't I be able to select which address I wish to use for each contact in my address book when using the "To:" button? [Evolution] command line?
Is there a way to start Evolution with To: and Subject: via the command line? The --usage screen didn't indicate there was so I thought I'd ask here. I'd like to be able to plug Evolution as my mailer into my new browser (Galeon) but haven't seen the appropriate command line switches to do this. To: and Subject: are almost required. Others would be nice. Thanks! ___ evolution maillist - [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.ximian.com/mailman/listinfo/evolution

It works exactly as you described. Thanks! And now I feel quite stupid since there is a FAQ that I hadn't even looked at before posting. My apologies. Now I will go look for the new Control panel. Yes. Specifically, http://lists.ximian.com/archives/public/evolution/. I didn't word my initial inquiry very well. Most lists to which I belong have archives that are searchable. [Evolution] usage questions
There are a couple usage questions I have for which I couldn't find the answers in the Evo help or FAQ. I'm using 1.02. I'm attempting to make this a useful tool for my home LAN. 1) At the bottom of the Contact Editor, New Appointment, and New Task screens (and next to the "Categories" field) is a field for "Contacts" which, when queried, opens a Contact List chooser. I don't understand the purpose of this "Contacts" field. Can someone explain? 2) The Contact List editor has a tab called "Collaboration" with a couple of URL fields. I don't understand their purpose or how to use them if someone could explain this to me also. Thanks! ___ evolution maillist - [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.ximian.com/mailman/listinfo/evolution

Well, even if it didn't make sense it's the only answer we've seen so far. :) I think I'll have to play around with it using your suggestions to fully realize its use. And then persuade the doc writers to do the same. :) Thanks! [Evolution] feature request(s)
If there's a better place for feature requests, please advise. 1) I would like for there to be the option of automatic and immediate expunge upon message deletion rather than just expunging when exiting and hiding deleted messages, both of which I do now. 2) When scheduling meetings, the participants have the option of being scheduled as Required, Optional, or Non-Participant. Yet when they receive the meeting invitation (in their Evolution), they don't have the option of the meeting being free or busy; just Accepting, Tentative, or Decline. I think that Accept and Tentative should both have options for the time being free or busy. Furthermore, if the invitation was sent to a Required Participant the default for the recipient should be Accept/Busy. If the meeting was sent to a Non-participant, the default for the recipient should be Accept/Free. Re: [Evolution] feature request(s)
I understand. But Non-Participant is (or can be) also used for CC'ing someone about a meeting. You want them to know about the meeting but not require their participation. This was a often used feature of Groupwise, the hands down best Groupware app I've ever used. No offense intended. :-) On Thu, 2002-02-21 at 08:59, Dan Winship wrote: > > Decline. I'm doing the exact same thing as Kenneth. One RH 7.1 server (X client) and four Win98 machines running Cygwin/XFree86 (X server). [Evolution] Publishing Free/Busy
A few weeks ago, someone in this list posted instructions for publishing Evo calendar free/busy information to Outlook users and visa versa. The posting is here: http://lists.ximian.com/archives/public/evolution/2002-January/016556.html It seems like a lot of good and useful information. But in my case, it's a little over my head never having used procmail So, is there anyone here who could translate this information into something for Evo to Evo users instead of Evo to Outlook and at the same time, make the procmail info a little easier to understand. Dear ximian.com people: What are the chances of seeing a MS Windows version of Evo in my lifetime? How about Macintosh? How about an Evo server? Re: [Evolution] no resend??
Aha!! For awhile there, I thought I was going crazy. I'll be glad to see this in the remote Sent folder. Re: [Evolution] This message crashes Evo (attached)
And I'll pass along my $.02 too in case anyone else runs a Cyrus server. I logged into my mail server and simply deleted the offending message. Then as user Cyrus, I ran reconstruct against my user mailbox. Not sure if this is appropriate or necessary, but it seemed to work. [Evolution] Feature request
What I used to use a fair amount back in my Groupwise days was a thing they called Reply Request (IIRC). This was kind of a hybrid of an assigned task and a message. After completing your message text but before hitting send, you would select Reply Request from the tool bar (again IIRC) and then select a date. What would then happen is a very official looking piece of text would be prepended to the message body ominously warning the recipient that a reply was expected by such and such date. It's been awhile so others may have a better recollection of exactly how this feature behaved. All I know is that I found it frequently quite handy. Any chance of getting that feature added here at some point? Thanks! ___ evolution maillist - [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.ximian.com/mailman/listinfo/evolution
[Evolution] editing recurring events
I just grabbed Evo 1.04 off of Red Carpet. So far, so good. But I noticed something that I'm not entirely sure is new; it might've been there in previous versions. I'm not sure. I can't seem to edit just one instance of a recurring event. I can *delete* just one instance. But when I attempt to *edit* an instance and then save, the edit appears to apply to all instances of that event. Am I doing something wrong, is it a bug, or is this the intended behavior? [Evolution] Free Busy solution?
I saw this project recently posted to Freshmeat: http://jical.sourceforge.net/ and was wondering if anyone has had a chance to try it out. It looks pretty slick but since it requires Jboss, it might be a bit over my head. Not really sure, but the whole application server and j2ee subjects usually leave me a little glassy-eyed. Any other method out there to implement FB and group scheduling with Evo only and not Exchange? ___ evolution maillist - [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.ximian.com/mailman/listinfo/evolution
[Evolution] meeting auto accept?
Is there a way to automatically accept a meeting? One of the filters that I've overlooked perhaps? If not, could that feature be added? ___ evolution maillist - [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.ximian.com/mailman/listinfo/evolution

We use the calendars quite a lot so I'm fairly certain we would've notice a problem such as you describe. ___ evolution maillist - [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.ximian.com/mailman/listinfo/evolution
