 ** **

 Hi Team,

I have a report deliverable every hour of the day. Multiple users are
 working on it.

Delivery Start from 8:00 AM to 10 PM.

Is there any way I can set alert message (for all the users) wihtout using
 outlook, windows scheduler.

It will be helpful for me to deliver the reports on every hour and
multiple users will get alert for the same (as same as net send msg,
something like that a pop should come).

Request you to put in your valuable inputs.

 Thanks,

 Mayur

Re: $$Excel-Macros$$ Recover Excel File

2012-10-31 Thread Paul Schreiner
There are many possibilities, but most depend on your computer system.

Do you (or someone else) regularly back up your folders?
If this is a company computer, does someone else back up the folders where
you stored this file?

If so, then the file can be restored from the last backup.

If not, then:
Do you have your Excel set up to do autobackup?
If so, then check your configuration and find the location for the backup file.
BUT, if you've continued to work on the file, chances are that this backup has
been replaced.

Other than that, unless you've made a copy, your file has been permanently
changed.

-

On files that I worry about being corrupted before saving,
I include a BeforeSave event macro that keeps a weekly copy of the file before
saving.
That is, the first time every week that a file is saved, it retains a copy.
That way, at least I can restore the file to the state it was in at the
beginning of the week.
It also deletes backups over 4 weeks old.

Hi Team,

I have a report deliverable every hour of the day. Multiple users are working

it.

Delivery Start from 8:00 AM to 10 PM.

Is there any way I can set alert message (for all the users) wihtout using
outlook, windows scheduler.

It will be helpful for me to deliver the reports on every hour and multiple
users will get alert for the same (as same as net send  msg, something like
that
a pop should come).

Request you to put in your valuable inputs.

Thanks,

$$Excel-Macros$$ Need help to create VBA to copy 4 cells from one spreadsheet to over 200 spreadsheats in same folder

2012-10-31 Thread Mel
I have a master spreadsheet with 5 tabs. On my master sheet (called
Master) - on the tab called 'Option Letter' I need to copy cells B131,
B202, B319, B424 to the same
tab (same name on each sheet 'Option Letter') on over 200 spreadsheets. I
will need to unprotect the Option Letter tab (no password), paste in the
info from my Master sheet Option letter tab (master sheet is called
master),
then protect (no password) and save the spreadsheet with the same name.
Each spreadsheet is in the same folder called C:\EBACKUP. Each spreadsheet
has a different name.

I will only need to run this process once to update all spreadsheets with
the new info for these 4 cells.I tried a number of different VBA to
loop through each spreadsheet but keep getting a number of error.
Any help is appreciated.

Re: $$Excel-Macros$$ Need help to create VBA to copy 4 cells from one spreadsheet to over 200 spreadsheats in same folder

2012-10-31 Thread Paul Schreiner
Is the 200 workbooks the ONLY files in the folder C:\EBACKUP ?

If so, you can place this macro in a standard module of your master workbook:

Sub CopyData()
Dim fso, Fldr, fl, fc, f
    Dim Sht
    Sht = Option Letter
    Fldr = C:\EBACKUP\
    Application.ScreenUpdating = False
    Set fso = CreateObject(Scripting.FileSystemObject)

    Set fl = fso.getfolder(Fldr)
    Set fc = fl.Files
    For Each f In fc
    Workbooks.Open f.Path
    Sheets(Sht).Unprotect
    Workbooks(f.Name).Sheets(Sht).Range(B131).Value =
ThisWorkbook.Sheets(Sht).Range(B131).Value
    Workbooks(f.Name).Sheets(Sht).Range(B202).Value =
ThisWorkbook.Sheets(Sht).Range(B202).Value
    Workbooks(f.Name).Sheets(Sht).Range(B319).Value =
ThisWorkbook.Sheets(Sht).Range(B319).Value
    Workbooks(f.Name).Sheets(Sht).Range(B424).Value =
ThisWorkbook.Sheets(Sht).Range(B424).Value
    Sheets(Sht).Protect
    Workbooks(f.Name).Close savechanges:=True
    Next f
    Application.ScreenUpdating = True
    MsgBox Finished
End Sub

If you need to skip specific files, then we're have to modify it somewhat.

$$Excel-Macros$$ excel macros for pasting to selected range

2012-10-31 Thread key log
Hi all,

This is a very easy macro but since I just started learning about VBA I'm
having a hard time making something that works. What I want to do is have a
macros button that will paste a specific row to a selected field. So, I
want the user to select whatever rows they want, say rows 99-101 and then
click the macro button which will paste whatever is on ROW 2 to the
selected rows, which is a bunch of drop down menus.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

 Hi all,

This is a very easy macro but since I just started learning about VBA I'm

want the user to select whatever rows they want, say rows 99-101 and then
click the macro button which will paste whatever is on ROW 2 to the
selected rows, which is a bunch of drop down menus.

 Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: $$Excel-Macros$$ Mysterious Date Grouping in a Pivot Table

2012-10-31 Thread David Grugeon
Hi Greg

Couple of issues. First the date in the data is actually text of something
that looks like a date, followed by a space. As such it cannot easily be
converted to a true date. To convert it you would need to st up a new
column and use =DATE(20MID(A2,7,2),LEFT(A2,2),MID(A2,4,2))

The pivot is using the Date Mailed twice. First as a filter and then as a
row label. That is why it gives it two different names. It seems to
generate the second because the first looks like a date. I am not sure
about this. When I had added my new column and called it DateDate I could
generate a pivot table without the Date Mailed2 appearing.

I really don't understand why it seems to autogenerate weeks as the
interval rather than days.

David Grugeon

 Hi,

I have a pivot table that includes a field in the 'PivotTable Field List',

a play around with the Group Field function in Options but to no avail (I
can only group them by periods).

It's driving me a bit mad. Any help would be much appreciated.

I've attached the file. The extra field is called 'Date Mailed2'.

 Many thanks

On files that I worry about being corrupted before saving,
I include a BeforeSave event macro that keeps a weekly copy of the file

That is, the first time every week that a file is saved, it retains a copy.
That way, at least I can restore the file to the state it was in at the

It also deletes backups over 4 weeks old.

 If not, then:
Do you have your Excel set up to do autobackup?
If so, then check your configuration and find the location for the backup

Other than that, unless you've made a copy, your file has been

On files that I worry about being corrupted before saving,
I include a BeforeSave event macro that keeps a weekly copy of the file
 before saving.
That is, the first time every week that a file is saved, it retains a
 copy.
That way, at least I can restore the file to the state it was in at the
 beginning of the week.
It also deletes backups over 4 weeks old.
