Re: $$Excel-Macros$$ Moderators of discussexcel forum

2012-08-23 Thread RK
Dear Forum member,

I have been an avid reader of this forum and have interacted with a few of you
at a personal level. I enjoy reading some contribution during my free time and
admire the creativity by some members. Spam was getting to me, to the point
that I thought of leaving the group. In that sense this move is a welcome step.

We, as members also need keep in mind that people post spam because we are
unable ignore them. Each time a group member replies, even requests the
moderator to ban the member, they are helping the spammer get the eyeball. We
are unknowingly giving them the attention. We need to ignore them so that
posting spam become futile for the spammer, atleast not circulate it further
even if it is to highlight it. Let's wait for the moderators to observe and ban
the member from our beloved group.

Another feature that Excel 2007-10 provides in terms of Translation can be
found in the Review tab. If you have a cell selected, and use this
translation feature, it will most likely translate it for you
automatically. The manual part is that you will have to click on the insert
button or copy button. This doesn't use Google Translation by the way. It
uses Bing translation. Not sure if you can change that setting though.

Sam

$$Excel-Macros$$ Help with code

2010-10-16 Thread RK
Hi Champion,

Below is a code that I found, can someone help me plot it in excel. I
am trying to paste data directly from excel to google translator, copy
the translated text from google and paste it in excel along side the
original text.

Assume:
1) A1 has the original text that needs to be translated
2) A2 has the language of original text
3) A3 has the languague in which I want the translation to happen
4) A4 is where I want to place the translated text.
5) I will be using a loop for my actual requirement and hence want to
use range instead of fixes hard coated values.

I searched the internet and this is the closest code that I have
found, at least this is what I think. Pls opine.

What I want to know is
1) How do I tweak the code to get my desired output
2) quality of the code
3) is it a code which is based on features available in excel or will
it require any downloads from the creater of this code. net net are
there any strings attached with this code.
4) help in understanding this code

Dim core As TwebstLib.ICoreVbaSet core = New TwebstLib.core
Dim browser As TwebstLib.IBrowserVba
Set browser = core.StartBrowserVba(http://www.google.com/;)
For i = 1 To 5
' Get the current text to be translated
Dim textToTranslate As String
textToTranslate = ActiveSheet.Cells(i, 1).Formula
' Twebst web automation part
Call browser.Navigate(http://www.google.com/language_tools?hl=en;)
Call browser.FindElementVba(textarea,
id=source).InputText(textToTranslate)
Call browser.FindElementVba(select, name=sl).Select(English)
Call browser.FindElementVba(select, name=tl).Select(French)
Call browser.FindElementVba(input submit, text=Translate).Click
' Find result span object
Dim resultObj As TwebstLib.IElementVba
Set resultObj = browser.FindElementVba(span, id=result_box)
' Get the text result
Dim translatedText As String
translatedText = resultObj.Text
' Save the result into Excel sheet
ActiveSheet.Cells(i, 2).Formula = translatedText
Next

2009-12-13 Thread RK
Hi Friends, how are you all doing. My last post regarding excel based
translation from Google when unanswered. I am really hopeful that this
time the champs in the group will not disappoint me.

I want to convert the below code into a vba code. My requirement is to
translate a string from excel into lang. of my choice. Pls help and
donot hesitate to ask incase you have a query.

/*
* How to detect the language of text.
*/

google.load(language, 1);

function initialize() {
  var content = document.getElementById('content');
  // Setting the text in the div.
  content.innerHTML = 'div id=textHola, me alegro mucho de verte.
\/divdiv id=detected/';

  // Grabbing the text to translate
  var text = document.getElementById(text).innerHTML;

  // Detect the language of the text.
  google.language.detect(text, function(result) {
var detected = document.getElementById(detected);
// If there wasn't an error in the request
if (!result.error) {
  var langCode = result.language;
  var langName;

  // Loop through the languages enum so that we can find the
actual name of the language.
  // Learn about the languages enum here:
  //
http://code.google.com/apis/ajaxlanguage/documentation/reference.html#LangNameArray
  for (var i in google.language.Languages) {
var thisLangCode = google.language.Languages[i];
if (thisLangCode == langCode) {
  // If we find the language code, store the language name.
  langName = i;
  break;
}
  }

  // Se the detected language.
  detected.innerHTML = 'Detected: ' + result.language + ' - aka
' + langName + '';
}
  });
}
google.setOnLoadCallback(initialize);

$$Excel-Macros$$ Re: Connecting excel to Google Translation

2009-08-12 Thread RK

Hi All,

I though this will be child's play for wizards like you. While I see
that most of the queries posted after mine have been answered, my
query has rcvd no response.

I have a document available
http://vbaexcel.eu/vba/google_translate_internet_explorer_automation.xls
which is very near to what I want, however I being a very basic level
programmer donot understand it, moreover the code in the file doesnot
work well. Can some pls make an attempt to build on it and help me
understand the code, so that I can tweek it to suit my requirement. I
will really appreciate your help. When you open the sheet, you will
need to first delete cell F5 to O15 and then the macro will work.

Looking forward to some replies.

Roopesh Kapur

 Hi All,

 Currently what I am doing is this;

 1) I write my msg in English in Excel, what I have found out is that

 -15 words so
 2) I break my msg into various parts and paste them in different rows
 of the same column. This way my msg becomes very long and can go up to
 25 columns
 3) I translate msg in bits and then copy and paste the translation in
 the corresponding cell on the right hand side. this very cumbersome
 and painful and this is what I want to automate.

 I want a button, that

 1) Connects my excel to the website changes the from and 2 values to
 what I choose.
 2) Copies the first cell and pastes it to the website dialogue box.
 3) hits the button for translation.
 4) Copies the output and pastes it in the cell corresponding to cell
 mentioned in point 2.
 5) repeats the cycle of point 1 to 4 for the next line that needs to
 be translated.

 I know that it is child’s play for wizards in this forum as I have
 seen much more complex solutions.
