WEIRD PROBLEM WITH EXCHANGE

2003-03-20 Thread Reed, Alexander
We have a user who cannot send attachments to an address. He can send
text but not attachments. I can send to this same address with attachments
but he cannot from our server. Any ideas on why I could send to the same
address but he cannot?

Thanks,
Alex

EXCHANGE 5.5 sp4 OUTLOOK 2000 NORTON ANTI VIRUS Server 8.0 So far I have
seen from this person's account that attachments in general will not go out
for him. I have tried just about everything. It only seems to be to a

Does just about everything include, logging in as the user on another
machine and trying to send to the same address? Or creating a new profile
(named my_new_profile) for the user? Or sending to a different recipient on
the same domain? What were the results of those actions?

Really trying to help here, but you aren't really providing enough
information to go on and playing 20 questions is an inefficient way to
troubleshoot this. I mentioned a few things to try and you say you've tried
them (no results mentioned, which necessitates playing 21 questions).. At
this point I guess I could just give up and assume you've tried everything
I'd try and therefore am at an end, or I could rack my brain for 50 other
things to try and find out that you've already tried 49 of them and the 50th
one either works or doesn't.

Or... If this is really an issue you'd like your peers to help you with, you
could take the time to provide a detailed problem description which includes
the things you have tried so far with the results of those actions.

Picking the least likely of the 50 other things you may not have tried, does
completely uninstalling your antivirus software have any effect?

FW: CONFERENCE ROOMS

2003-01-02 Thread Reed, Alexander
I am new to this list and I hope to gain more knowledge about Exchange
Server. So to begin, I have a problem with our conference rooms.

We current have a mailbox setup called "Resource Proxy" that is the "owner"
of all of the conference rooms. When someone schedules a conference room,
the resource proxy determines if the room is available (by seeing if "it"
has a meeting scheduled for that time) and auto excepts if there is not
conflict.

There are some major drawbacks of resource scheduling in this manner
including some conflicts we have seen in the past.
I have looked into new methods to auto resource scheduling in the past, and
I would like you to resolve this. I assume there is a more efficient way to
script the automatic scheduling of conference rooms or do this in Exchange.

I appreciate any help!

Thanks,
Alex

Try the Auto Accept wizard script from Robert Strong's website
(http://www.exchangecode.com).

I don't think he has an Exchange 2000 version yet but then you didn't
mention which version of Exchange you are running.

DELETING CALENDAR EVENTS

2003-01-14 Thread Reed, Alexander
I am trying to set permissions so that no one can delete a set calendar
event on a resource conference room and users are able to delete events even
when they do not have permissions to the mailbox calendar. (or so it
seems.)
Has anyone else experienced this? I would appreciate any feedback on
the resolution to this.

Properties -> permissions if you have it, or by going to the folder in ESM
and looking at client permissions. Default should be listed near the top,
right next to Anonymous.

Default is what permissions your users will get if they are not explicitly
allowed or denied.

I noticed some interesting things:

It asks for credentials to log off.
It asks me for my Front Page CD
I cannot figure out how to use spell check.
It has a box at the bottom right hand corner that tells me I have
new mail.

I like it! ;P

You won't see it in add remove it will be in your exchsrvr\bin folder
exmerge.exe and exmerge.ini are the two files that make the program up
It might be worth copying them from the cd again (remember to change the
attribute on the .ini file so it isnt read only or you wont be able to save
settings etc)...

NOT RELATED TERMINAL SERVICES and PRINTERS

2003-01-28 Thread Reed, Alexander
Has anyone had issues with mapped printers on W2K Terminal Services
printing sporadically working and then not working. We have printers on our
Domain Controller NT 4 SP6a which are mapped to the Term Server Sessions and
it periodically says "TEST PAGE FAILED TO PRINT" when printing from a
Terminal Server Session.
I think our Domain Controller which is also acting as a Print Server is
crapping out.
Any ideas or experience with this would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Alex

I ran across printing problems when in heavy printing mode the jobs get lost
or don't print. There is a fix for allowing more mailboxes (not email boxes)
for printing in NT4.0 The standard is 11 IIRC and with a reg hack you can
increase that number.

EXMERGE ERROR

2003-01-29 Thread Reed, Alexander

Anyone have an issue running the EXMERGE from their desktop and it says
you do not have permissions on the information store but you actually do?
I found an article that mentions something about copying the mapi32.dll
file over...
