OT - Enabling a user for Live Communication Server

2003-12-22 Thread Ken Cornetet
Off topic (more or less, but hey, IM used to be part of exchange...)

Does anyone have code for enabling a user for LCS? I'd like to
incorporate it into my user provisioning code. The Docs that come with
the LCS SDK are pretty thin.

Re: Protocol for communication between Outlook and Exchange Server

2003-11-20 Thread Qiang Peng
Hello Mr. Fyodorov and Mr Bubba G,
Thanks for your advice.
MAPI is build on COM technology, so if my program runs on non-Windows
system (Linux/Unix...), I can't use MAPI. Is there any way for client in
non-Windows system like Linux/Unix to connect and operate with MS Exchange
server? I think MS Exchange server is a well-known massaging server and MS
hopes users to use their services. To do so, MS Exchange server defined
standards/protocols that clients (non-Windows client) must follow to work
with MS Exchange server, didn't it? If there are those protocol, can you
tell me where I can find them?
Thanks and regards
Qiang Peng.

RE: Protocol for communication between Outlook and Exchange Server

2003-11-19 Thread McBee, Jim
Outlook uses MAPI (the messaging API) over RPC (remote procedure calls).
Here are some good starting points. You will probably need the Exchange
SDK to do very much with MAPI.

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/e2k3/e2
k3/_exch2k3_mapi_access.asp

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/e2k3/e2
k3/_techsel_tech_13.asp

Or just go to msdn.microsoft.com and search for MAPI and Exchange.

Well... for the LEAST amount of network traffic, do not have either system
on the same network. Create an X.400 connector between the two, but use a
postal address at either end of the connector. Then, for every message to
the other server, have the sender print it out, submit it to the postal
service, and then to a scan of the message when it arrives at its
destination. Once the scan converts the message to a digital text format, it
can then be stored in the recipient's mailbox.

2001-11-30 Thread Scott Lounder
Title: RE: Limiting a Mailbox to internal communication only.

I have a question...

We have Exchange 5.5, before I got here it was determined that only certain people should be able to send mail outside of our system. The way they limited people was by removing the SMTP address entirely. We would get errors on our MailSweeper gateways, but it was set up to automatically disregard all x.400 messages.

My question is... I know that With Exchange 2000 SMTP is the core transport system. If users don't have an SMTP address can they still send/receive internal Email with Exchange 2000?

TIA

Limiting a Mailbox to internal communication only.

2001-11-28 Thread Craig Manske

How can I limit a mailbox to internal communication only? I.E. no receiving
or sending of internet mail. Do I just remove the SMTP address from the
account?

also

Is it possible to limit an exchange account to a computer? In other words,
I have a mailbox which I want anyone to be able access but only from our
Inspection computer.

That will prevent them from getting mail; in order to prevent from them
sending, you need to add them on the IMS Restriction tab
