RE: OWA Error - Client seeing "The Page cannot be displayed"

2003-10-15 Thread Roger Seielstad
You open ports 135, 137, 138, and all => 1024 and it will work. Unless it's
a Win2k AD infrastructure, then you've only got a dozen or so that have to
be opened.

Windows Authentication through a firewall is a lose/lose situation - don't
do it. A far better scheme is to use ISA server (or some other proxy server)
to do a reverse proxy of the OWA server. In this config, the OWA box is in
the internal network, and the proxy is in the DMZ. We do this using the open
source Squid proxy on an OpenBSD platform without any issues.

Did you make sure to keep the necessary ports open so that the front-end
in the DMZ could talk to the domain controllers (which I assume are
behind your firewall?)

No... BUT then I added some clients manually into the local users
group...even granted admin. privs just for testing but even that didn't
work.

Everything was fine before the OWA was placed into a DMZ. Now the server
cannot authenticate to the Domain so it cannot find the clients privs..
This
server is also acting as a smart host/spam filter scanning both
inbound/outbound mail and all of that is working fine.

It turns out that most of the company cannot get their mail through OWA
any
longer. How the heck do I authenticate through the DMZ to the BDC?

What now?

2003-10-11 Thread mike
can the client then put in \exchange\username and see their mail?

check that your orgs primary email address is in his list of smtp
addresses ...

mike

OWA suddenly (for an unknown reason) stopped working for one client.

After client enters mailbox name/user name and pass the next screen
displayed is:
"The Page cannot be displayed" HTTP 500 Internal Server Error
If I turn off "Show friendly HTTP error messages" IE 6, the message
then becomes:
"There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon
request."
Other details:
- the client only began having problems this week and claims to have not
modified his password;
- the client can log into his email via Outlook in the office;
- I can log into this mailbox without difficulty using an admins.
credentials;
- It is the same problem on any computer so the problem is not specific to
one computer.
As I mentioned, this just started happening and it's only this account
(that I know of).

The only thing that changed recently was that I placed OWA (separate
from Exchange Server 5.5) into a DMZ. But that change didn't seem to
affect anyone else.
Does anyone know why this happened and how to fix this?

Thank you,
Shawn
P.S. I just found that I cannot send a message to this list using OWA.
Anyway to configure outbound msgs in OWA to send as text only?

it a shot. Where did you find that out and thanks for it!

After some further research, the -2147023569 means
ERROR_ACCOUNT_RESTRICTION. I'd be thinking that there is some problem with
account policies. Check to see if your minimum password age is set to 1 day
(or greater). If it is, change it to 0 and see if it resolves the issue.

RE: OWA Error

2003-07-23 Thread Woods, Tony
Already been thru this one too. It's truly strange that none of these fixes
are working for me... Thanks for all the suggestions so far though...

Sorry, I misunderstood where you were going with this. Getting into OWA is
fine. It's the changing the password once in there that I'm having an issue

hitting Submit and it's returning this error...

Cheers.

Hi again,

Exchange 5.5 SP4 on W2K SP3.
Now that I've sorted out the Change Password option, it's returning an error
when you submit. I fill in the info for Domain, Account, old, new and
confirm passwords and it says "Error number: -2147023569 ". Then there's a
link that says 'Back' so that you can try again. Anyone seen this error
before? A search on Google and KB's returned nothing...

saying but can this be setup for 5.5? I hadn't read anything that said it
could...

Thanks

RE: OWA Error

2003-02-14 Thread Bryon Barkley
I have a similar problem. When I use the logoff button, I get prompted to
enter logon credentials. After 3 times, I get access denied. Q325906
states that the Integrated Windows Authentication should be cleared on the
Front End servers. Our front end servers have this setting cleared but the
problem still exists. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

I've come a cropper before by entering the wrong Alias on the mailbox

Check what this is for these mailboxes, and enter it as the mailbox name on

Subject: Vauge OWA Error

When trying to access a mailbox via OWA (Exch 5.5 sp4) with a user's
account, I get the following error: "OWA was unable to get to your inbox".
However, if I use the Username/PW of the Administrator, I can open the
mailbox fine. This problem seems isolated to only a couple of users and
I've deleted their accounts and re-created them with no change. I gather
that this is a default message, however I can't seem to find any other
problems in the IIS logs or Event Viewer. I'm quite frustrated at this
point and any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
John

Yes, the account was working properly until last week. Nothing has changed
except her ability to access her account using OWA. If I create another
mailbox and set her as the Primary NT account, it works fine...

problems in the IIS logs or Event Viewer. I'm quite frustrated at this
point and any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
John

RE: Vauge OWA Error

I betcha she can login to her original mailbox if she puts in her SMTP
address as opposed to her username (alias).

Yes, the account was working properly until last week. Nothing has changed
except her ability to access her account using OWA. If I create another
mailbox and set her as the Primary NT account, it works fine...

Have you checked to make sure this user has Logon Locally privileges to the
machine running OWA? Sounds like a security issue on these few users.

OWA Error

2002-03-08 Thread Shane

When attempting to login to OWA in Exchange 2000, all of my users get this
error after entering username and password: “Error. Access is Denied.”
Administrators can log on just fine but normal users cannot. The Exchange
server is Win2K with Exchange 2K and all the latest service packs
installed. OWA resides on the Exchange server through the default
install. The primary domain controller and global catalog is a separate
Win2K server.

OWA used to work until recently. Nothing has been modified on the
Exchange Server, but recently there were some unintentional security
changes on the domain controller and we don’t know what they were. The
only thing I can find about login denial in OWA says to make sure that
users have “log on locally” rights and “access this computer from the
network” rights. They have these but still can’t login to OWA.

Any ideas?

RE: OWA error

2001-11-19 Thread Ken Cornetet

We used to get this all the time, but it went away when we went to NT SP6a
and MSX SP4 (and a weekly reboot). You might try re-installing first NT
SP6a, then MSX SP4 just on the offhand chance something didn't get patched
right the first time around.

I keep getting the error listed below for OWA. I perform a weekly automated
reboot on it. That seemed to clear up the issue for a while, however, it is
becoming more frequent. OWA is on a standalone NT 4/SP6a server without the
regular exchange services present on the box. The CDO is Exchange SP4. The
OWA server connects to a seperate exchange server SP6a/ Exchange SP4.
Looking at knowledgebase only gave clues for Exchange 55 RTM or SP1.

error 'ASP 0115'
Unexpected error

/exchange/USA/logon.asp

A trappable error occurred in an external object. The script cannot continue
running.

RE: OWA error

2001-11-19 Thread Aaron Brasslett

In my experience, this is usually related to a permissions issue with IIS.
TechNet has gobs of info on ASP 0115 errors.

Here is a test. Give everyone that has access to OWA administrative
privileges on the server. If that solves your problem, then you know it is
a permissions issue this is the fastest and easiest way, but it has some
obvious security issues. Usually it has boiled down to a permissions
problem in the WINNT and WINNT\SYSTEM32 directories.

Good luck... finding the cause of ASP 0115 errors is loads of fun.
