SSP2 Bug??
Title: Message Has anyone had a problem using Ex SP2 and authentication? I have my mail server sitting out here and everyone connects to it via pop3/smtp. I used to be able to authenticate and then send through the smtp but since SP2 I have to set it to anonymous which means Im open to spamming. I tried it on another server and am having the same issue. If I put it back to user/pass required, even with clear text, when I send mail I immediatley get an NDR. We are all configured the same way with the authenticate to send mail option in Outlook 2000 and XP. Anyone? List Charter and FAQ at: http://www.sunbelt-software.com/exchange_list_charter.htm
I can't send to a particular customer... But they..
I did not explain the install, sorry. The servers are win2k sp2+ with exchange 2k sp2+ on my end and win4.0 sp6+ exchange 5.5 sp4+ on their end. It does not matter who I try to send to in the organization. I did setup a Veritas backup that emails me when the backup job fails and it mails me fine. I am setup in the global address book as an internet contact. Has done it off and on for about 2 months, now does it all of the time. Thanks again. Doug. I'm behind on my reading...did you get this resolved? If not, are you running setup from the CD or did you copy the i386 directory from the CD to disk and rename the svrmax.exe to setup.exe? Help creating New WIN2k + Exchange2k LAB
I am here trying to bring up a completely new Win2K + Exchange2K Lab environment. I know that there are issues that are poorly addressed by Microsoft regarding the minimun network requirements. Specifically, I need to know about bringing up a new Active Directory domain controller, and how it relates to DNS, WINS, DHCP, etc. I have tried this three times already and because I only have one server, and no local DNS server - I find myself down a long, dark hallway that I can't back out of. Can anyone point me to a complete resource that speaks to this issue. Also, if there is a good book that I can go out a purchase (tonight) please let me know what you have found that works. I can tell that THIS IS GOING TO BE A LONG NIGHT!!! TIA, aci List Charter and FAQ at: http://www.sunbelt-software.com/exchange_list_charter.htm
Difference Between Exch2K Enterprise and Standard
Do you happen to know what the differences are between Exchange2K and Exchange2K corporate is?? What will I be missing out on (connectors, features, etc. or is it just a limitation on the number of mailboxes, or the size of the exchange mailstore can be. Exch2k install Recommendations.
I had heard that there are some recommendations to putting the mailstore on a separate server, or a separate hard drive, or a separate partition, or not the system partition, or something along those lines. Anything you heard regarding any of that would be most helpful too! TIA, aci List Charter and FAQ at: http://www.sunbelt-software.com/exchange_list_charter.htm

RE: Exch2k install Recommendations.
Don't know how you would put it on another server, but Compaq has some very good whitepapers you gain good insight on! My preference for a big server is to have loggs, and database on different channels, and different types of Raid. I like this cuz one is typically sequential IO where as the other is ...WTF is the word... yea, you know what I mean! Of course the system, and binaries on its on set as well. jlc -Original Message- From: aci [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Saturday, January 05, 2002 4:24 PM To: MS-Exchange Admin Issues Subject: Exch2k install Recommendations. RE: OWA Requirements?
No you don't need another server if your user base is small. But then again, it's a matter of personal pref, and money! I would rather put OWA its on box, and in-between to firewalls, having my e2k box inside, and behind a pair of firewalls. Point of failure considerations as well... jlc -Original Message- From: aci [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Saturday, January 05, 2002 4:23 PM To: MS-Exchange Admin Issues Subject: OWA Requirements? with regards to Outlook web access, any considerations about what services, if any I will need.
