Recover Deleted items not working

I am having an issue where the Recover Deleted items section in outlook

did not need that on the Exchange Server since I have the option to keep
deleted items for 7 days. I do not have the option selected for Do Not

backed up. Any help would be appreicated with this.

DumpsterAlwaysOn is a reg setting for client machines and affects Outlook
behavior.

Enable it, restart Outlook, then try to recover something from a folder
other than Deleted Items. You should see the items that were shift+deleted.

You need the DumpsterAlwaysOn reg key on the client computer, not the server.
Once the client has that setting it can recover the items that were shift

Subject: RE: Recover Deleted items not working

The recover deleted items only works on items that were in the
deleted items folder.
(Unless you have the reg key on)
So you have to open the deleted items folder, then click on recover
deleted items to get back items that were in the deleted items folder
over the last 7 days.

Hello,

I am having an issue where the Recover Deleted items section in outlook
is not storing e-mails that have been deleted. I checked the Exchange
Server and I have deleted items to be set to keep for seven days. I have
read articles about a registry key for DumpsterAlwaysOn, but figured I
did not need that on the Exchange Server since I have the option to keep

It appears that I have a strange thing going on with this. I am not able
see anything in the Recover Deleted Items section when I delete an
e-mail out of the deleted items or do the SHIFT+delete on an e-mail. I
do have the reg key applied to my client PC and have restarted outlook

One other thing...
The nice thing about the reg hack is that if you have permissions to
other mailboxes, just enable it on your PC.
Then, you can open other mailboxes in your Outlook (Toolsemail
accountsnextchangemore settingsadvancedadd) and recover people's
deleted items for them.

You just need to enable this reg hack on a client that has outlook
installed.
Then, that client can recover deleted items from ANY folder, even
those that were shift-deleted.
Also, if you enable this reg hack today, you will still be able go back
7 days.

I would like to have the recover deleted items to be able to retain
e-mails for 7 days that were deleted using SHIFT+delete. I am assuming
the reg key would fix that? I am assuming the reg key needs to be added
to the server in order to make this work?

The recover deleted items only works on items that were in the
deleted items folder.
(Unless you have the reg key on)
So you have to open the deleted items folder, then click on recover
deleted items to get back items that were in the deleted items folder
over the last 7 days.

Hello,

I am having an issue where the Recover Deleted items section in outlook
is not storing e-mails that have been deleted. I checked the Exchange
Server and I have deleted items to be set to keep for seven days. I have
read articles about a registry key for DumpsterAlwaysOn, but figured I
did not need that on the Exchange Server since I have the option to keep
deleted items for 7 days. I do not have the option selected for Do Not
Permanently delete mailboxes and items until we the store has been
backed up. Any help would be appreicated with this.

It appears that I have a strange thing going on with this. I am not able
see anything in the Recover Deleted Items section when I delete an
e-mail out of the deleted items or do the SHIFT+delete on an e-mail. I
do have the reg key applied to my client PC and have restarted outlook
and also restarted my PC.

From: David Mazzaccaro [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
Sent: Thursday, November 13, 2008 3:27 PM
To: MS-Exchange Admin Issues
Subject: RE: Recover Deleted items not working

The recover deleted items only works on items that were in the
deleted items folder.
(Unless you have the reg key on)
So you have to open the deleted items folder, then click on recover
deleted items to get back items that were in the deleted items folder
over the last 7 days.

Hello,

I am having an issue where the Recover Deleted items section in outlook
is not storing e-mails that have been deleted. I checked the Exchange
Server and I have deleted items to be set to keep for seven days. I have
read articles about a registry key for DumpsterAlwaysOn, but figured I
did not need that on the Exchange Server since I have the option to keep
deleted items for 7 days. I do not have the option selected for Do Not
Permanently delete mailboxes and items until we the store has been
backed up. Any help would be appreicated with this.

Re: defrag error

2008-11-13 Thread Matt Moore
17 gigs and your stm should only take about 20 minutes or so. I only use the
command line, sorry I should have said that first. xcopy seems to work the
best for me. Windows has been known to bugger up a copy. Answering on the fly,
sorry. When you create the partition and format make sure that you set it to
not be able to compress folders and files. This is bad Juju for exchange. On
large files Windows has a bad habit of compressing files weather you want it to
or not. You will need to go in to the advanced properties of the file after
copy to make sure this hasn't happened, just make sure all boxes are unchecked.
Best is to totaly blow the drive away and start from scratch and set up the
drive correctly. That may be what's buggering you eseutil. Sorry, answering
on the fly.

I've written a script that sends mail and Outlook 2007 doesn't prompt when

no point in elaborating.

Nah we develop software that uses mapi to send mail. To change the method
will mean a recode, so the client has asked if they can have a workaround.

they are going to test the mapilabs software since its free.

What exactly is causing the prompt? Outlook doesn't do this all by itself.

I've written a script that sends mail and Outlook 2007 doesn't prompt when
it runs. I know why but if you don't have a script you can modify, there's
no point in elaborating.

RE: defrag error

2008-11-13 Thread Michael B. Smith
It means that there isn't even enough disk space to mount the database.

This is the ONE AND ONLY TIME I recommend compression in an Exchange
environment.

Go pick a few dozen exchange transaction logs and compress them.

Subject: How to on Mailbox store Deletion

Hello All,

I have been reading a couple of posts recently to reclaim the white space on
the Exchange databases. The most appropriate option has been proposed to
create a new one, move the mailboxes to the new on and delete the old
Mailbox store.

My Scenario - Win2k3 AD, E2K

I have emptied one of the stores except for two mailboxes - SMTP and
Systemmailbox. Those two are already created in the new store. So, my
question is - Is it safe to delete this empty (so called) Mailbox store or I
need to do something with these two mailboxes before I delete the store?

Thanking you all in advance for your help.

Regards,

Debashish
