Differences between Exchange Standard and Enterprise
I was looking at Microsoft's site for this, and the only real difference I could find was the number of mailbox databases possible. Is this the case, or are there other things that I didn't see? Thanks, Joe
RE: Differences between Exchange Standard and Enterprise
I'm guessing we are talking about Exchange Server 2010... For the _SERVER_ license, that and availability of the external connector are the only differences. For the _CAL_, there are loads of differences. Do note that mailbox resiliency requires Windows Server Enterprise, even though the feature is available on both Exchange Standard and Exchange Enterprise. -Original Message- From: Joseph Heaton [mailto:jhea...@dfg.ca.gov] Sent: Tuesday, December 08, 2009 12:21 PM To: MS-Exchange Admin Issues Subject: Differences between Exchange Standard and Enterprise I was looking at Microsoft's site for this, and the only real difference I could find was the number of mailbox databases possible. RE: Forefront Quarantine
Thanks Alex! I am getting closer. I now have Forefront setup with a File Filter to block certain attachments. The email still goes through, but the attached file is replaced with a .txt file with the following message FILE QUARANTINED Microsoft Forefront Security for Exchange Server removed a file since it was found to match a filter. File name: Copy of reports.mdb Filter name: FILE FILTER= Custom stripped file extensions: *.mdb* Sooo, the user is now aware a file was blocked for them. The problem is though, IF it's legitimate, I still can't release it. When I select the DELIVER button along with the Original Recipients option, nothing happens. The original email never hits my Inbox. Under Filtering, I have File Filter = Enabled Action = Delete: Remove Contents Quarantine Files is checked. Under my General Options Deliver from Quarantine Security: = Compatibility Mode I've tried changing the Action to Skip: detect only But all that does is send the original message through with no attachment and no indication a file was blocked. Hmm. How can I set it up so that the DELIVER option actually works without re-quarantining? Thanks. Rob

RE: outside email to dist group missing 1 person
Larry, If not already using this configuration, change the group type to a Universal group. I have seen this fix similar problems on many occasions. Yes, it is always the same user. I'll try changing the group, it is global now.
OWA after mailbox migration from 2007 to 2010
Quick question. I have a few mailboxes in a test environment for our exchange 2007 SP2 to Exchange 2010 migration. I migrated the mailboxes and now when i go to the owa url for the 2007 CAS server it says Use the following link to open this mailbox with optimal performance: and lists what appears to be an owa url using the default smtp address in exchange (which goes nowhere useful). Given that it says for Optimal performance is there a way in the meantiime of migrating mailboxes that the 2007 CAS can connect to mailboxes on the 2010 mailbox server so that users can continue to easily access them without having to use a different url while we are migrating. After migration is complete we will change our DNS so that the 2007 owa url points to the 2010 owa, however in the meantime we want to keep it simple for the users. I assumed that in the meantime 2007 could still handle owa for mailboxes on the 2010 server, is that not true? Thanks! Ehren J. RE: A blast from the past...
Yes, they know exchange. I tried to only participate when I had a problem. The BLB conversations were usually pretty humorous as an outsider. It was clear that people were clamoring for something more intelligent than the DR kluge, and also clear the vendors were trying to accommodate that desire.
