RE: One contact list for a company
I think the best thing would be to load them into the GAL. Updating them might be a challenge though. If they want one contact list for all contacts the GAL is the way to go IMO. RE: Adding 2 CAS Servers
Like Steve said I would definitely consider HLBs over WNLB. We are also migrating from 2003 to 2010 and went with Kemp load balancers. We tested WNLB but it was much more difficult to manage than the Kemp devices. We purchased a pair of Kemp LM-2200s for less than $4k. By the time you factor in the cost of Windows and Exchange server licenses you are getting close to a pair of redundant HLBs anyways. Does the connection filtering in Exchange 2003 look into the headers of the email to see where the email originated from or does it just check the last connection? If it only see the last connection then this won't help me because all email always appears to come from our parent company's mail relays. The reason I ask is lately a lot our Blackberry activation messages are ending up in people's junk mail folders (I think it's related to our Outlook 2010 rollout but I'm not 100% sure yet) and it's causing my activations to fail. I figure if I can add the Blackberry network range to my connection filter that would prevent them from being tagged as junk mail. RE: Possibly OT: Unable to reply or forward after Outlook 2010 Upgrade
After checking out our server I see we are getting an MSExchangeIS error 9693 whenever I try to send a message. Looks like we have reached our limit of 16382 Named Props in this database. I'm hesitant to increase this until I can figure out what is using up all the named properties in my database Mike From: Celone, Mike Sent: Wednesday, June 23, 2010 2:31 PM To: MS-Exchange Admin Issues Subject: RE: Possibly OT: Unable to reply or forward after Outlook 2010 Upgrade Upgraded from 2003 but also a fresh install on another machine has the same issue. We are upgrading from Outlook 2003 to Outlook 2010 and have found that when we reply or forward an email we get an undeliverable message with the following text. This message could not be sent. Try sending the message again later, or contact your network administrator. Unknown Error. Error is [0x80040900-0x80040900-0x0003ee]. We can create a new email and it sends fine but cannot reply or forward. We are running Exchange 2003 SP2 fully patched. RE: Blackberry devices Push Email
Actually with the BES Express some carriers allow you to use the BIS plans instead. This was a new change with the Express version only. T-Mobile allows you to use a BIS plan but you won't get OTA activations for your devices, they would need to be connected to the server. I know Verizon does require you to have a Enterprise plan even if you use the BES Express server. It's a portal you login to and setup your connection or you can configure Internet email right on your phone. It in turns polls the mail servers and then delivers the email to your phone. It works perfectly with OWA on Exchange 2003 - 2010. No additional charges other than how your carrier charges for Internet usage. Also pop services.. www.blackberry.com/go/vzw for example BES Express, latest version. Is completely free. If you have an Exchange server you can install it on your server or a separate server and it will sync all contacts/calendar/emails/tasks. You must have your blackberry provisioned for BES services by the cell carrier. Some charge for this; others include it. Bes professional 4.x charged 99.00 per blackberry that is no longer the case in bes express version 5. -Original Message- From: N Parr [mailto:npar...@mortonind.com] Sent: Friday, May 28, 2010 8:39 AM To: MS-Exchange Admin Issues Subject: RE: Blackberry devices Push Email BIS is Blackberry Internet Service. Can a Blackberry device such as a BB Bold 9700 support push email without having a BES server, maybe using the BB equivilant of ActiveSync? We have a few a Windows/Symbian based devices that have push email to the phones. The Windows based ones use ActiveSync and SSL cert and the Symbian ones use Mail For Exchange and a SSL cert Thanks John ** This email and any files transmitted with it are confidential and intended solely for the use of the individual or entity to whom they are addressed. I have a Bold 9700 on ATT and it doesn't do this. The ATT version has a slightly older OS 5 than the T-Mobile one though. I am on OS 5.0.0.405 whereas the T-Mo 9700 comes with OS 5.0.0.586. Could be a bug in that version. RE: Exchange disclaimer software
Thanks for the feedback everyone. I downloaded the Code Two product and really like it. However is there a way to get it to not put it's little ad at the bottom that says Disclaimer added by CodeTwo Exchange Rules or is that just part of the trial? Nesting query based distribution groups
Is it possible to nest a query based distribution group inside a universal group? We are using Exchange 2003 SP2 in a Windows 2003 Native forest. Anyone? I have some more information on this. I am consistently getting the following error on this server in the applications log. The categorizer is unable to initialize.
