Thank you for the clarification.

So *without* using my Mozilla mail client, a quick glance at the online
posting (second iframe) at:

and expanding thus:

http://lyris.sunbelt-software.com/read/archive?id=746296

sort of says it all.

I think it behoves us all to post in a neat and clear manner, without
HUGE sigs and disclaimers, graphics and other unnecessary additions,
reasonably spell checked and grammatically correct to the best of our
abilities.

For heaven's sake people, how difficult is it to create an additional
identity (text only) for posting to this list?

Thinking aloud too:

OP already said it was not blacklisted.

Unlikely to be a TLS issue as the handshake would cough immediately.

Possibly SMTP recipient problem but it is a large outfit with plenty of
servers.

Time zone unlikely to be a factor as it is going from Boston to Toronto
which, as I remember is only several hundred miles...

Usually means it gave up after multiple temporary failures and retries.
Bad address is a permanent failure.

I’m betting on a network, dns, or firewall problem.

Now that I’ve read the error again, it looks like it was 12 hours time

If it reached the destination server with an unknown/bad address, it
should’ve replied immediately. Unless we’re talking about a part of the

There's no doubt about it, the iPhone is a marvelous device. The

hands-down.

It just has some warts. The inability to use a Bluetooth keyboard
seems really bone-headed for a device which is otherwise so well

people are looking to do. Some of the people here live and die by
their Outlook, so it's a deal-breaker for them.

it. Myself, I've tried the iPhone as well, and I fall into the can't

I can't stand the poorly-designed keypads on some other phones,
either. Too many of them forget that you want spaces *between* key
contact surfaces. Or they make the keys narrow and tall, instead of
wide and short. (The tips of one's fingers when holding a device are
wide and short.)

I like the keypad on the BlackBerry 8830. My all time favorite was
the one on my now defunct Sony Clie PEG-TG50.

Keep in mind that I have an IBM Model M keyboard on my desk. I have
high standards when it comes to key input. :)

Re: I am looking to bulk import PSTs

2009-02-13 Thread Peter van Houten

Paul, I'm no expert but you can try looking here:

(from http://www.msexchange.org)
---
Use the Import-Mailbox cmdlet in Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1
and pipe the command to Import-Mailbox.

To import PST files for users in bulk, you must specify the file folder
containing the PST files. For example, if you want to import PST files
to user mailboxes stored in a specific mailbox database, type:

Get-Mailbox –Database name of database | Import-Mailbox -PSTFolderPath
c:\PSTs

Re: User not getting external email

2008-12-12 Thread Peter van Houten

Have just checked the server and it is set up for DIR. Will try the
recovery on the user's mailbox on Monday; everyone has already buggered
off to the pub to try and poison the cold/flu that is going around.

Still a mystery as to where the missing items went. The user did not use
another computer; it simply stopped receiving messages in the morning
and started again that night.

Thanks for all the help chaps and have a wonderful weekend.

likely caused by another Outlook session set to deliver mail to a
local PST.

Is it possible that the user had logged onto another computer,
terminal session/Citrix recently? If so, perhaps that outlook client
was configured for local delivery instead of their Exchange mailbox.
This would have the effect of stealing the messages out of the inbox
tot hat local system.

If someone timed out, disconnect, rebooted that other session, then
that would certainly explain the behavior you are seeing.

This is often an 'Oh yea!' moment for your user.

Thanks guys but there are no rules set. No restrictions on the server.

Same messages show up in OWA as in Outlook {sans the messages that I

Very odd. All other users are OK. Is there any chance of corruption in

OT ~ Re: Give him props! (was RE: Super fun question)

2008-07-07 Thread Peter van Houten

Don't get me started... I agree that several anecdotal documents
available on the internet confuse the average reader as to the safety of
chemicals such as aspartame; to use information like this can be
misleading and downright dangerous to the average reader.

There are stories such as the diet drinks delivered to Desert Storm
troops which stood in the hot sun for extended periods, causing the
methanol component of the aspartame sweetener to break down into
formaldehyde (which is then metabolised into formic acid in the body).
True? Dangerous? Who knows. The chemistry is sound and the results
very toxic but does it cause als/lupus/cfs/blindness/thrombosis?

If in doubt, I look to professional bodies such as the British FSA:

http://www.food.gov.uk/safereating/chemsafe/additivesbranch/sweeteners/55174

and the American FDA:

http://www.fda.gov/fdac/features/2006/406_sweeteners.html

Humans are somewhat genetically different and exhibit various tolerances
to the millions of compounds present in foods, so what might make you
break out in boils, might simply cause me to itch. Personally, I try to
eat fresh food wherever possible and steer clear of products containing
suspect chemicals.

In the end, it is about economics; Aspartame is far sweeter per gram
than natural sugar and is therefore much cheaper to use as an additive.
