ActiveSync for Exchange Server 2003
I am in the initial stages of researching Active Sync and Mobile Services for Exchange Server 2003 and using iPhones. Does anyone have any pros/cons to using this rather than sticking with our BES server and Blackberry handheld devices? Right now, I'm gathering information, but from a management point of view, it's pretty much a done deal. Outlook/Exchange
We have a developer who had written a program that runs in UNIX (Of which I know nothing about) to monitor specific things on our imaging system and page one of us fortunate systems folks for specific errors on the system. He also wants to provide us with a way to send an e-mailed response to a designated mail account if the problem does not require immediate response, but service can be delayed. His program would search the mail for key text or specific characters that would tell it wether or not to escalate the issue or put it aside. Is there a way to do this directly from the mail server? Also - another alternative I guess, would be to install the Outlook client on a machine and set up a rule to save these messages to a text file that his program could search. I didn't see any rules in Outlook 2000 that would enable us to do that. Does Microsoft provide a way to customize your own rules? We are running Exchange 5.5, SP4 on an NT4, SP6a system. Thanks. RE: *** Warning *** New Virus - W32.goner.a@mm
The same thing is happening here... It's catching some, but not others. Fortunately, the particular user it was sent to is a power user, and was smart enought not to open it, and called us instead. Would love to know why it's not catching them all. --- Eric Brouwer [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Groupsuck REALLY sucks... Even though I already had the latest dat installed, and all my services are running, two instances of this virus made it through. Thankfully I don't trust GS, and I sent out a warning and my users actually read it, and acted on it. Any idea why GS might not be catching them? Everything looks like it's set up properly. I caught all the Badtrans viruses last week. -Original Message- From: Dennis Atherton [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, December 04, 2001 3:27 PM To: MS-Exchange Admin Issues Subject: RE: *** Warning *** New Virus - W32.goner.a@mm Download and save the file sarcx86.exe, and then execute it on the system to be updated. -Original Message- From: MHR(Michael Ross) [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, December 04, 2001 11:50 AM To: MS-Exchange Admin Issues Subject: RE: *** Warning *** New Virus - W32.goner.a@mm Which file do you grab from there -Original Message- From: Philip Youngworth [ mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] ] Sent: Tuesday, December 04, 2001 1:37 PM To: MS-Exchange Admin Issues Subject: RE: *** Warning *** New Virus - W32.goner.a@mm You can get the sarc update from their ftp server. ftp://ftp2.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/antivirus_definitions/norto ftp://ftp2.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/antivirus_definitions/nort o n_antivirus/specdef You should be able to grab the sarc there for it. -Original Message- From: Cicerrella, Steve [ mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] ] Sent: Tuesday, December 04, 2001 2:24 PM To: MS-Exchange Admin Issues Subject: RE: *** Warning *** New Virus - W32.goner.a@mm Seeing this one already.I have not found a patch for Norton for Exchange yet.Already sent a broadcast to the users pleading with them to use some common sense and explicitly telling them NOT to open that one. Mailbox Manager
Is there a way to delete mail messages that are opened? I have been asked to set up a policy to delete messages from users' inboxes after 14 days, but to only delete messages that have been read. I didn't see anywhere in Mailbox Manager to do this. Is there some other way to do it or can mailbox manager be told to do it another way? Also, we are using Exchange 5.5 SP3/ NT4 SP6a. Can Exchange 2000 do this? Sham List Charter and FAQ at: http://www.sunbelt-software.com/exchange_list_charter.htm
