There are two of these. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb430765(v=exchg.141).aspx and Set-OrganizationConfig -MicrosoftExchangeRecipientReplyRecipient postmaster-smtp-address The second one does not appear to be particularly well documented. It's a little low but they will find someone. I work for a non profit in Miami and make more then that with great benefits working as a sysadmin. Exchange Admin Permission Problem
I am trying to setup journaling and when I log on to ESM the features are all greyed out. E2k3 on W2k3 servers. Latest service paks. I have tried logging on using an exchange admin account that IS NOT a member of Domain Admins or any other built-in admin group and I have tried logging in as administrator, which is how exchange was installed on all these boxes. I have a FE server and 3 BE servers. 1 of the BE servers has no mailboxes. We are trying to Journal to a new mailbox on that server. The only server the option to journal is NOT greyed out on is the FE server. I have logged directly on to each server several different ways. Have manually removed the deny send/receive permissions. Really Jammed up here. Anyone have any suggestions? ~ Ninja Email Security with Cloudmark Spam Engine Gets Image Spam ~ ~ http://www.sunbeltsoftware.com/Ninja~

I run Exchange 5.5 on an NT4.0 box. Small setup, about 15 users. Just recently every time I go into Exchange Administration I get an error that reads: An unexpected, unknown error has occurred. MAPI or an unspecified service provider. ID no: -- Any ideas how I can fix this? I cannot add any more users.. RE: Exchange Admin Problem
Run admin from a different client. That will allow you to add you users for now. If my memory serves me correctly. I've seen this happen and I was able to kill/restart explorer and that fixed it for a while. I was forced to finally reinstalled just the admin piece. RE: Running Exchange Admin Remotely
Go to Setup- Server - you should see four options and just pick system adm. It will ask you what machine Exchange is on - then be prepared. You need to have logged in with the exchange username password to change stuff - otherwise it pretty much read only. ellery july phone - 651-225-3895 -Original Message- From: Erickson, David [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Friday, February 01, 2002 1:03 PM To: MS-Exchange Admin Issues Subject: RE: Running Exchange Admin Remotely Is there a special switch to run setup with? There is nothing (that I can remember) about an exchange install that you would need to go into a dos screen. Is your computer part of the same domain as exchange server - for some reason it does not sound like? I am no Novell Expert (or MS for that matter) but it does sound like a permissions issue (not an exchange issue). ellery july phone - 651-225-3895 -Original Message- From: Erickson, David [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Friday, February 01, 2002 1:23 PM To: MS-Exchange Admin Issues Subject: RE: Running Exchange Admin Remotely I figured that was what to do, but when I go on a dos window opens and I get a message about having to be part of a domain, after clicking off the message box I am back to the previous menu. Title: Permissions Problems in Exchange Admin Karen / Steve Thanks for your help. Managed to work out what it was - Groupshield had managed to remove / corruptall of the permissions for the various objects with Exchange Admin, hence the 'I'm not going to let you do anything type errors!' Title: Permissions Problems in Exchange Admin Hi, I'm not much of an Exchange Wiz, but I'm looking at the MS Networking Guide, Page 682, for "arp". Maybe try the "arp -a" to see all arp entries, then try "arp -d inet_addr" to remove the "old" entry for the previous NIC. If I understand (and I'm not sure I do) you will need to get the Exchange 5.5 CD and run setup and install the Exchange Admin components. After you have done this use \exchsrvr\bin\admin. Title: Seeking recommendations for Exchange Admin course I am all self taught NT (a.k.a. no certs and all hard knocks), and I've worked in a two different shops as an NT engineer over the last 4 years. I find myself now responsible for a 600+ user exchange site spread across multiple servers and multiple sites, and I'm feeling as if there are holes in my knowledge base. Can anyone recommend a 5 day comprehensive Exchange course that you felt helped you in your development. We are currently Exchange 5.5, but looking forward to ADS and Exchange 2000. RE: Seeking recommendations for Exchange Admin course
Title: Message Well I appreciate the suggestion, and I have used these resources to get me by thus far. The rub comes from the fact that my daily responsibilities far exceed my allocation of time and the slice of that pie I set aside for furthering my education always seems to get the shaft. An offsite course would allow me to discard those responsibilities and focus and the subject matter within a structured environment. I'm certainly not looking for any spoon feeding (I know that your days probably mirror mine with respect to demands on your time), but rather a suggestion of a class that someone has already benefited from. I am willing and interested in doing the leg work, but I thought there might be some valuable suggestions to be gleaned from the list membership. Thanks again for your time and consideration. -Original Message-From: Kevin Miller [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]Sent: Monday, November 19, 2001 1:57 PMTo: MS-Exchange Admin IssuesSubject: RE: Seeking recommendations for Exchange Admin course www.swinc.com buy the archive Cdrom. read it, and do you best to answer the questions. read the answers and try some them. read the DR white paper. again goto www.swinc.com and read the FAQ, learn the FAQ, live the FAQ, love the FAQ, Give the FAQflowers. if you do that nonstop for 5 days. and you don't know exchange, you never will. RE: Seeking recommendations for Exchange Admin course
For Exchange 5.5 the 2 classes (if you can find them) you would want to take would be 1026 Administration for 5.5 and 973 Design and implementation. If those 2 courses aren't available under Exchange 2000 are the 1572 Admin course and 1573 Design course. Pocket book for Exchange 5.5 and Exchange 2000 are also good to use for quick questions as well. Melissa Medina MCT, MCSE, MCP+I, A+, Network +, Exchange 5.5/2000 Courses are great but a lot depends on the instructor. But always remember: It does not provide any encryption by itself ... so using it on a non-secured line is pretty dangerous, unless you make a ssh tunnel or something similar. It's small. Fits on a floppy. http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc Install vnc on your SBS machine and run WinVNC(app mode). Give it a password. run the vnc viewer on your machine and type in the name of your server. Enter the password. Now you can administrate it as if you were sitting at the machine. -Original Message- From: Jennifer Gaylor [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Thursday, October 25, 2001 2:23 PM To: MS-Exchange Admin Issues Subject: Exchange admin Thanks everybody for the input, everybody basically said the same thing which of course does not work, I would have figured that out on my own if it was so easy! Unfortunately, perhaps becasue it is SBS4.5, the installation program requires that Small Business Server be installed. I was kind of hoping someone would know of some switches or something. RE: Exchange admin
Maybe get ahold of a regular exchange CD (Maybe scrounge up someone's 5.5 demo, not sure if the admin piece would time out on that or not) and try the installing the admin off of that. As much as the overall install routine may be customized for SBS I would think the admin program is the same and your just having a problem with requirements that the install has.
