Does the user have an outlook rule that could do this? That's what it was
 with one of my users.

 Hi All,

We have had the situation recently were a user has received email that was
not addressed to him, CC'd or BCC'd. The user it was intended for got the
message no problem, but it also went to the other user as well. This is
quite a worrying thing, is there anything that could cause this and does
anyone have any ideas how I could prevent it from happening again.

 Many Thanks

OK - some more info then.
What version of Exchange are you running?

Was the sender on your mail system or a different one?

What is in the message header?

Do you have any 3rd party apps with access to your Exchange servers?

Does the user have any permissions or delegate access setup on his inbox?

Does it happen every time the user receives an e-mail from anyone, from only that sender, or just the one time?

Did you check the sent items for your user to make sure the mail was not forwarded?

1)
Exchange 2000 SP2
2) The
message came from user not on our system
3) The
message header just show the two user who should have got the message, nothing
out of the ordinary
4) The
only 3rd party apps are some reporting sending tools.
5) HE
has no other permissions set on his mailbox
6)
This is the second time this has happened
7) I
checked the sent items, the message had not been forwarded.

RE: Messages going to the wrong users

2002-02-08 Thread John Matteson

Did the message originate outside the Exchange org? If so, how do you know
that it wasn't BCC'd to the user? BCC won't show up in the headers, AFAIK.

Does the incorrect recipient have a name close to the people that were
supposed to get it?

If the originator of the message was in Exchange, was the user on line or
off line at the time (the OAB could be hosed on the user's workstation)?
