RE: Directory Synchronization problem

2002-01-09 Thread Snook, Kevin S (ITD)

Try making a small change on the source site to a mailbox e.g. add an
Address field and do a Pull and see what you get.

If that doesn't work then I would suggest you have a blockage probably on
the DS mailbox in the destination site. Do a Track Message on the Source
site and use the Advanced Search-Sent by Exchange Server-Directory Service
options. Find out where the DR request-replies are getting to.

Yes we are running MSMail.
Yes I did a pull on the DR connector in the site that is out-of-date and
that did not help.

Are you running MSMail? If not, the Directory Synchronisation service
doesn't need to be running. Moreover it has nothing to do with your GAL
being replicated between sites. That's taken care of by the Directory
Service. Have you tried doing a pull on the DR connector in the site that is
out-of-date?

Hi all,
We are running Exchange 5.5 on all the Exchange servers in the Domain.
We have several location who access information from the Corporate office.
My problem is that one of the servers is not getting an updated global
address list from Corporate.
When I checked the server in the remote location, the Directory
Synchronization service has stopped. When I tried to restart it I kept
getting error 2140.
I checked TechNet and tried the resolution for this error based on the
article there and the problem is not resolved.
Does anyone have any recommendations?
Thank you for any help.

RE: Directory Synchronization problem

2002-01-09 Thread Dawson, Valencia

Kevin,
I created a mailbox on the destination site and did a push and I did not see
it on the source site.
I did a pull on the source site and the mailbox could be seen.
I then did the tracking like you suggested and the DR- request-replies are
getting to the Private Information store of the destination site.
There are several remote sites and where as the size of the messages going
to the other sites are below 10k the ones to the problem site goes to as
much as 440k. I do not know if this is of any significance.
Thanks for all your help so far.
Do you have anymore suggestions?
Valencia

Right, my assumption is probably correct. The DR messages, although they are
getting to the DR mailbox on the out-of-date server, are not being processed
by it's DS. Hence, when you make a request from the out-of-date server you
are getting a lot more data, because quite simply the out-of-date server is
asking for data going back further.

Take a look at
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/treeview/default.asp?url=/TechNet/prodtechn
ol/exchange/support/exchserv.asp under Clearing the Directory Replication
Mailbox.
