Hello All, I did a little research, but didn't find anything...I remember reading that there is a process that removes permission's to pub folders periodically based on account status (ie deleted, removed). Was I dreaming?? (hopefully not about exchange). What I have are a bunch of left over admin names listed in the permission's for pub folders. Not a big deal, just annoying... RE: cleanup of Pub folder permission's??
That's just a furthering of Microsoft's permissions philosophy, which is open, with the ability to shut. Remember, Public Folders are sorta supposed to be administered by users, since Outlook is really the primary PF management tool (PFADMIN is different, look for an article on it coming to an issue of Exchange-Outlook Administrator Magazine near you!). If they had to think about who to allow to see it, rather than who to disallow, their brains would explode. RE: cleanup of Pub folder permission's??
Thanks!! Didnt even see my post (must check settings)...I realize that these should be managed by users/owners. Actually the PUBLIC folder shouldnt be public. It contains VERY sensitive info and only 3 people want access (had to change default/anonymous client perm to none). Invisible wouldnt get me much here I did find the article, I must learn to search a little deeper before firing off an email. But not sure if it is really needed. Thanks!! We end up with an entry that appears something like this: /O=RUR/OU=CITY/CN=RECIPIENTS/CN=USERNAME. We have a single server, single site, running Exchange 5.5, SP4 on WinNT 4.0, SP5. I thought I might need to use the Update Now button on the Directory Service but that button is greyed out. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.
