Re: [expert] USB card reader support on 9.0 ?

2002-12-04 Thread Victor
Hello,
I'm having a similar problem with my generic USB Card Reader. I tried
making some devices using MAKEDEV but that did not seem to work. The
messages file shows that the kernel realizes the reader is there but not
device was created to mount. I'm not sure if this affects anything but I
am using ide-scsi emulation for two of my cdrom drives. Any advice? I'll
be happy to provide more details on the problem if there's any interest.

Thanks,
Victor

Re: [expert] mdk8.2 and radeon 7000 pci

2002-05-06 Thread Victor

Hi,
I sent a message a while ago to this mailing list regarding the Radeon
and openGL. Since it seems that you have a similar configuration, do you
mind checking of you can run the bzflag game. There are a few other open
gl programs that crash XFree86 and lock up my whole computer, but this
is the only one I can remember. I tried this game with another computer
with an ATI card using a different distribution of linux and it also
crashed XFree86.

Thanks,
Victor

[expert] kernel-smp-2.4.18.12mdk-1-1mdk is not a smp kernel?

2002-04-24 Thread Victor

Hello,
I was wondering what was going on with this particular kernel package.
It says it's for smp but after running it and after checking out its
config file I realized that it isn't set up for smp.

On a somewhat related note. Now that the kernel is being compiled with
gcc3.0.4 is it possible to get rid of the kernel-source package
dependency on gcc (2.96).

Thanks,
Victor

[expert] Radeon problems with DRI and OpenGL

2002-04-10 Thread Victor

I have an ATI Radeon 64MB DDR Vivo card and have been running into some
problems with certain OpenGL programs. The programs that I have
encountered problems with so far are:
/usr/X11R6/lib/xscreensaver/starwars from the xscreensaver-gl package (a
few others don't work)
csmash-0.6.3-2mdk
bzflag-1.7e4-2mdk
I'm sure there are others butt these are the ones I've found so far.
After running these programs my mouse, keyboard, video freeze up. I can
log into my computer using ssh to restart, but I haven't figured out how
to recover my X session. ctrl-alt-bksp, ctrl-alt-fx don't work.
alt-sysreqs work sometimes.

When I disable DRI these programs run but at insanely slow speeds due to
software rendering. So these programs do work.

Is it possible to only enable certain gl extensions? How about recover
my X session so I can have an easier time debugging?

Here is my configuration:
2x366 celeron PII on an Abit p2b board
kernel-smp-2.4.18-6mdk-1-1mdk
fairly standard linux mandrake 8.2 install

mesa packages:

[expert] Disk Quota problem?

2001-10-01 Thread Victor Gonzalez

Hello

I've been searching for any known bug in the quota tools for mandrake, but
i didn't find anything. My problem is that after i run quotacheck on a &gb
partition the aquota.user and aquota.group files seems to not being
properly created. I think this because if i run repquota the values
displayed are totally incorrect. The version of the quota is the 3.00 from
March 2001. Is there any known problem with this tool or is it probably my
fault?

Greetings, Victor

[expert] /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -ldb1

2001-04-23 Thread Jason Victor

Hello. I recently switched from Debian to Mandrake. I
started to try to compile the GNOME app I wrote with
the following makefile:

CC=gcc
CFLAGS=-Wall  -g `gnome-config --cflags gnome gnomeui`
LDFLAGS=`gnome-config --libs gnome gnomeui`
gwom: gwom.c
  $(CC) $(CFLAGS) -o gwom gwom.c $(LDFLAGS)
clean:
  rm -f gwom core

However, whenever I compile, I get:

/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -ldb1
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make: *** [gwom] Error 1

Any help?

Thanks alot,
Jason

dd takes extremely long time
i used sfdisk to make partition on new hd automatically
and regular tar to restore files.
You should also check parted it supposedly can copy partitions.

It works only with exactly the same hd's plus it is extremely slow
