[expert] cups changes SERVERNAME
When (re)starting cups it changes the servername witk the message: -- WARNING: Inserted "ServerName 172.16.150.1" in /etc/cups/cupsd.conf (to make broadcasting of printer queue info working correctly) --- the 172.16.150.1 ist the NAT for my VMware3.2. I think the servername should be 10.0.0.10. The problem is: If I am connected to Internet via DSL I cannot print (kprinter does not find/show any printer). After shutting down DSL I can print normally. My /etc/hosts shows: 10.0.0.10 localhost.localdomain localhost 127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost What could be the reason? This should be a hint to Mandrake team: This hold at least for localization de_DE: No help-de is installed (the rpm is not on the CDs). Instead of spellchecking de_DE myspell de_CH is installed. Also no hyphenation-de is installed. Besides: The same happened with beta3 and also OOO1.0.1 with Mandrake9.0. Maybe this can be corrected at next or (at least) the final revision. Re: [expert] Beta 3 first impressions
I had also some of those problems, eg. Timezone, printers,ISDN (but DSL was configured and works).- Upto now I could not install any printer (I have LaserJet6P, HP Deskjet990c and HP OfficeJet V40). They all are recognized, I can configure them but then an error like 'add-printer fails' comes. drakconf can not be started. There comes an error that something like 'gtk2-perl is missing'. I did not figure out what exactly is missing/wrong. [expert] 9.1Beta2 not usable (for me)
I found Beta2 is not usable at my workstation. I had most problems which are already mentioned in other mails: especially I did not get installed: - printers - networking (ISDN and DSL) - could not (re-)configure X-Server But the worst thing is: After installing beta2 I could not boot to my working (9.0) partition. It complained on file system errors on my working partition. Fortunatly i could solve this by reformatting the partion where I had installed the beta2 with the bootmanager (OS Selector). I will wait till the next beta has come and try again - hopefully successfully. W. Kasberg Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft? Go to http://www.mandrakestore.com

In OO you have to marke in Options/Language/writing aids (or wordbook?) the correct language (doe not forget to mark myspell).
